I had a 7 mil stock cylinder built last winter and put it in a hill bike I rode at St. Anthony this summer. Had a blast! Exceeded my expectations. And yes, you will surprise a few people.

I had SLP do a Banshee crank for me last year. Cleaned, inspected, trued and welded, $90. They do mostly snowmobile stuff so they're getting into their slow season. Should be a quick turn around. If somebody has a set of cylinders ready to go, buy them, then sell yours. If you do that, let me know, I might be interested.

I'd check with Cam first, at least talk to him. He might have some cylinders and a promod sitting on the shelf. Or, Check w/ SLP in Idaho Falls. They don't do much Banshee work anymore, but they used to. As far as I know they still sell a kit. Plus their pipes of course. They could at least do the boring work and clean up the crank if needed. Not sure about the promod but you could buy one somewhere else.

Just jump on I-80 and turn right at Salt Lake City. Easy. LOL. It's a long drive for sure. I've done it more than a few times going to or from NJ or PA. Hope you're able to get out here and ride some day. It's a great place.

Beer and wine available at all grocery and gas station C-stores. Rexburg and St. Anthony each have a state liquor store for hard stuff. Their selections are limited so if there's something special you can't live without bring it with you. KAN has moved from Utah and is now located just down the road from Egin Lakes.

Alpinestar has released the new 2017 A-10 Full Chest Protector for sale in the U.S. I picked mine up yesterday from a local dealer who buys from Western Power Sports. So far I like everything about it except the shoulder pads. Putting the vest on and off with them attached sucks. I've taken them off the vest and probably won't wear them very often, if at all. There is a version of the new A-10 that comes without them for $30 less, but according to the Alpinestar website it's not currently being sold in the U.S.

The Egin Lakes store and campground are operated separately. Store opens in early April, but sometimes only part time at first. Campground opens in mid-late April, depending on conditions and when the campground host arrives from down south. There's also two private camps, Idaho Dunes RV and Sand Hills Resort, but I don't have much info on them. Sand Hills is a long way from the west end so you may need to pack additional fuel. The Egin Lakes host and his wife are good people. They work hard to keep the place cleaned up. We do our part and try not to make their job harder. Have a chat when you see them and let them know you appreciate the work they do. And if it's meal time, invite them in for a plate. The sand settles quickly to the ground, so just keep a short distance between you and the rider in front and you'll have clean air. Summer storms roll in fast and furious, then usually depart quickly. We love a storm with some good wind, especially mid-week. Then we go out the next day and ride on smooth sand with few if any other people.

True. The lens on the Go Pro camera makes things look much flatter than they really are.

"Steep and deep" is how I describe them to people. Some of the bigger bowls can easily hold a large football stadium. I've never ridden at any other dunes, so I can't make a comparison. But I can tell you they're big and a blast to ride. From what I hear from guys who have ridden at other dunes they're some of the biggest in the country. The larger ones at the west end are almost 400 feet high according to the literature on the dunes.

The main section of the dunes, west of Egin Lakes, opens for riding on April 1. Early April the sand is sketchy. The south slopes may have some dry sand, but the north slopes can still have snow and ice. Sand sometimes covers the snow and ice. Dangerous. By late April conditions are better. The campground at Egin Lakes opens around late April. Best sand is from May through September.

^^^^^^^ What he said. You can piece it together with parts from different vendors if you want, people do it and it works. I prefer to pick one shop and do all my business with them. Be a loyal customer and you've always got someone to call on when you have questions or issues. You should consider boxing up the engine and sending it to the builder of your choice.

I ride at St.Anthony. We ride fast, no jumping, and always make a stop at Choke Cherry Dune for some drag racing with who ever's there. I switched from stock to Alba +2+1 standard travel A arms and Elka Legacy standard travel shocks, front and rear, two seasons ago. No regrets. After talking directly to Elka tech support I didn't feel that LT offered much advantage, and, the front LT shocks are much larger and add weight. I'm building Shee #2 this winter. I wanted a lighter front end. Bought Alba +2+1 standard travel A arms and Fox Float 3 shocks. If you buy from Alba, tell them you don't want to pay full retail, they'll usually bargain with you.
