  1. Glad to hear...do a proper plug chop just to be sure your mains are dialed in!!
  2. No offense...I'm gonna have to agree...
  3. I fully understand being busy and not being able to reach out and talk to someone. However, you're gonna have to make some time as best you can. I honestly think you'd be doing yourself a dis-service if you didn't at least chat with a few of the builders...for pricing and their attitude/helpfulness. Your call...I've always had good luck with Jeff at FAST. However, he's not the only guy turning wrenches...so, take that as you may!!
  4. Conventional wisdom would say 220 to 240 main with stock everything, filter and no airbox lid. If everything is up to snuff...lean out the main. Careful...and check the plugs along the way...
  5. Nice pic...nice find. I guess I can't bitch too much about having to drive 4.5 hours to Silver Lake for dunes...those boys out east and north east gotta drive a helluva lot further than I!!!
  6. Very nice looking quad...best of luck with the sale... Bump.
  7. I use a strand or two of speaker wire to be sure the pilots are clean. They have very small holes, sometimes carb cleaner and/or compressed air doesn't quite get it all, a tiny speck of dirt is all it takes to clog a pilot... Or, for a few bucks, buy two new ones!! Since each carb has parts unique to it (slides and bowls) I'd strongly recommend tearing them apart, one at a time!!
  8. Your bike probably does work pretty well w/ 10 paddles, no doubt. But, I gaurentee it will be faster with 8 row instead... If you're gonna port it/build a stroker, keep the 10s. Bob @ R&B (machwon) does pretty impressive work for the price. I rode a banshee closing weekend at Silver Lake with his port job, and I was impressed...especially for the price paid... I truly believe you get what you pay for...and Bob does very good work as well...
  9. UP for sale are 21 X 12 X 8 hauler 10 row paddles. They are buffed sidewall to sidewall, they are NOT ultra buffs. On black label douglas rims. 72 inch rollout. Paddles are in perfect shape, no rips, no chunks missing, nor torn paddles. Just slight scuffing you can see in the pics due to the gravel parking lot ride at Silver Lake, and putting it in the garage to/from the back of my truck. Perfect tires for a 4 mil dune bike. Going with a bigger motor and more swingarm, so...time to sell these. 250 shipped via Fed Ex with tracking number, or 225.00 local pickup. I haven't even thought about putting air or checking these since closing weekend of silver lake (last weekend in October) and they are holding air perfectly.... Rims are in great shape as well. Will ship out next business day after payment received. I have perfect feedback here, check under my name for yourself.
  10. Dave Moore builds some top notch chassis. Not a whole lot cheaper, but very nice indeed. Check out davemooreracing.com
  11. Get a squeezeball for practice at work... Seriously, if you have an issue pulling a single throttle spring on a thumb...not sure what to tell you...if the carb is clean, etc., it should be a breeze to pull.
  12. Yep, 3 turns or more out, smaller pilot. Less than 1.0 turn out, bigger pilot. Really, nothing wrong with running it .5 turns out, but...you're really limited to adjustability then, not much room...that's all!!
  13. Put the 8's on....it's hooking too much. You don't need a longer swinger....lean forward a little more and learn to slip the clutch out without dumping it.
  14. Did you properly and carefully sync the carbs? Turn the air screws all the way in. .5 turns out from seated, keep turning the air screws 1/2 turn out until it wakes back up. Allow 20 seconds between air screw adjustments for the bike to "react" from it. Get rid of that snorkel while you're at it... A few basic questions. 1. Carb slides in the wrong carb? that can cause this. 2. Choke tube back in place between the two carbs? 3. Carb bowls on the right carbs?
  15. Fine point NYUK....but I think you'll attest to, you can build it from scratch and pay top dollar. Or, you can buy one built for a helluva lot less!!! Pretty safe to say not many of us can get back all the money we spent building our shit, but...you can buy one already done up for alot less than your investment totals....
  16. That video isn't impressive...I could light that car up after a night of budweiser, Jeigerbombs, pizza, nachos and a lighter.... :yelrotflmao:
  17. All depends on the dyno... Mid 60's, low 70's....
  18. I got RDZ/Shearer out of frames if needed. I can still get a pretty good price for my inframe Shearer pipes, show chrome....so, I'm not to worried about it. We'll see how she runs....
  19. Call Jeff...he'll respond quicker than an email. IN my bike, new basket, new inner and outer, 100% properly ajusted...and if I floor it holding the clutch in while in gear, it will creep a little. Nature of the beast if everything is in adjustment and basket isn't too grooved up. His clutch is home made, street/atv parts...and it works let me tell you. He'll tell you which is which....
  20. He smoked his breakfast. You can almost get that motor IN a bike for that much....
  21. I rolled over twice...and I was still on the bitch....
  22. for right now, you don't have enough motor to pull a 10 paddle efficiently. Believe it or not, if you went to 8 paddle, you'd be faster especially on stock swinger. I ran 10 paddle on my cub with a 6 over, prolly putting out a little more than twice the HP you have now. Now...if you're gonna build a bigger stroker motor soon, then keep the 10 row. For a simple bolt on bike, that is too much paddle....
  23. Then we've come full circle...LOL.
  24. Out of curiousity...how far did you bore it out to get to a 409? with no porting on that motor...45ish...if that. Power is in the porting, going big bore don't do much unless it's a HUGE motor...which, will always be ported?
  25. Brady...I PM'd you my info. I will give you a package deal on rear picked tires AND front studded tires if you are interested....let me know.
