I would agree...1 or two sizes up on the main. A tad thin on that ring for my tastes, too. A lean condition on the needle normally would make the bike rev but not want to pull, or miss/pop/ping. You might be rich on the needle to be honest...bog is usually rich. Go up one or two on the main, then dial that needle in. Try the old choke trick...if you can. (yeah, I know....a bitch on twin aftermarket carbs.) If you pull the choke out a little and it gets better, than richen up the needle. Worse, lean it out. Make sure the bike is fully warmed up of course, Josh.

You're prolly ok. If the outer edge or race of the bearing is slopping around in the carrier, then I'd worry. I felt like i was driving over rumble strips in sand on my shee end of last year, rear bearing were shot. Carrier turned out just fine.

Marvin Shaw Comp Series. Call John @ Sand Toyz Unlimited. I have 'em on mine, LOVE 'em. Too stiff for the dunes (250 PSI fronts, 600 PSI rear) but for racing they're the bomb!!! www.sandtoyzunlimited.com

Search for YFZ shocks. Yes, can be done. Machining work involved to fit them, (Very little) Someone here actually did a write up on the whole thing. You will be wearing out the ball joints prematurely, though...beware.

Lucky to have nothing but good experiences with the cats on here. You can always try getting the local police (where he lives) involved...it is mail fraud. Best of luck to you... -
THE TRUTH THE HOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH

That's because when your reeds you bought off him arrive, there will be a mysterious chemical agent in the box. When you open the box, it will release itself into your bloodstream and reprogram your home and cell phone to call FAST Racing every payday to take all your money. You will walk around in a zombie like state of mind, muttering "You gotta be FAST or you won't last" or "Quick is good, FAST is better". Let the brainwashing commence... :yelrotflmao:  Sorry...had to make light of this whole thing. I bought a ton of stuff off Jeff. But, i also bought my carbs and pipes used off other members. I told him I keep it in the FAST family when I can, which is often...but, money is money. Not only did he say "I understand and don't blame you".... He also said, as long as your happy and riding, that's the most important part. Those were literally the words out of his mouth. Some used car salesman or Spam King he is....  -
NOt if it's sluggish between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle. That's all Needle, and just starting to get into the main. What needles are you using now?
-
Yeah, if you're not soley drag racing as Loco said, stick with inframes. Also...what kind of motor do you have done up? A stock or near stock banshee will not benefit as much from drag pipes...you need opened up porting, compression, timing and larger carbs to take advantage of drag pipes/setup. Since I got to Silver Lake, I chose Shearer inframes...gotta have silencers and sparkies to ride there. If that wasn't an option, I'd try Shearer out of frames or GRR as well. I go to a track that is a few minutes from Grand River Racing... alcoholbanshee has GRR out of frames...and yep, that bastard is loud as all hell. Hate being next to him when he starts it up... (Luckily....I'm only next to him on the line for about 1/2 second till the lights come on, right Roger??? )

St. Clair Shores here.... I'm only gonna ride Clarksville Sand Drag and Silver Lake this year, and of course Lake St. Clair and White Lake when they freeze. Although, 50 degree temps in December doesn't sound promising anytime soon... I'm gonna pick up a 450 either later this year or next, then I'll be hitting the trails again. I gotta tell you guys, the UP has phenomenal trails, and they welcome riders up there unlike down here. They know, just like snowmobiling in the winter, the ATV industry brings in revenue. Instead of 3 short months of the sleds, they can gather 12 months of revenue if they take care of the ATV crowd....and they have so far!! It's so cheap up there for hotels, etc. rriggs is from MI too.... I'm looking forward to a lot of riding next year, and have met quite a few cool cats from the HQ.

Josh...glad to see you like 'em and are still using them. To be honest, I had 35PWKs and angled 6 inch Pod filters. With my inframe shearer pipes, you don't need the wrap on the exhaust... Mine clear the filters/outerwears by at least an inch and a half or so. I'd get the Shearer pipes first, then decide if you need the header wrap.... I ran mine all year at the strip and dunes, never even THOUGHT about melting me outerwears!!

I'd start looking electrical then. Could've got moisture behind the flywheel at the stator, pickup coil, etc. Could even be something real simple like bad plug cap leads from the coil, they're known to go bad, and new NGK plug cap ends are less than 10 bucks a piece.... As said, bad or weak spark will make it pop/miss in higher RPMs. Does it have a timing plate? Is it too far advanced or retarded? What about a flywheel key, possible it sheared?
-
A couple of things. T5s really shine with a timing advance and lightened flywheel. you get on the pipe sooner. I can tell you from personal experience you need to get a better pipe for cubs. I had stock carbs and T5s when I first built my cubs. 33 to 35mm carbs and Shearer, CPI, GRR or other pipes compliment the power delivery and timing of the cubs much better. Will the bike run with FMF? Yep, sure will...but, I think you know you're missing out on quite a few ponies by keeping those pipes on.
-
You can buy a fully assembled drag/dune bike cheaper than you can build it yourself. However, then you don't have that "built by me" thing going... "Full Port Jobs" is a wide open possibility...one man's cleanup port can be another's MX/Dune port....all depends. T5s work very well with most porting, and yes they will work on drag porting. But, point is...if it's already drag ported, you will benefit more from a top end style drag pipe... If you want to build a ground up or turn key bike...and don't mind dealing with shipping, let me know. I've got a guy that can do it all up pretty cheaply, and his shit runs very hard. Your wallet is always the limit...let me know.
-
That would be my first thought...however... A shorted wire, failing coil and/or failing stator can provide similar results. Weak spark will make it more evident for higher RPMs. A quick check of the plug should tell you something. If the jetting isn't suspect, start tracing wires for bad ground, frayed wires, etc. By the way.... Did you recently remove the TORS? That can cause some problems, too!!
-
I think you mean a flywheel puller...and make sure you get the right one, that threads into the flywheel. A jaw type will permanently damage the flywheel. I'd get this thing torn down, checked out and go from there. I'd hate to see you start buying go fast parts when you might need a crank, bearings, etc., critical components. There are quite a few cheap bolt ons that will give you a noticeable bump in power. Timing plate is cheap, 35 plus shipping, shaved flywheel is nice to...less than 60 or so. However, the real power is in porting. The engine is apart now, so...the project/bike may not run a bit longer if funds are tight, but....if you save a few beans and get the porting done, it will be well worth the wait IMO. Any builder will tell you you're better off waiting until you bike is ready for a fresh top end to port the motor (Rather than tear down a perfectly good running bike...) Now is that time!!!

THE TRUTH THE HOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH

Rippen...there is a LONG thread on there about Andy @ GRR...(Grand River Racing Sux..etc.) Yes, Andy was cocky in his replies. But he got 100% thrown under the bus and trashed. I don't believe he is a site sponsor anymore (I Think he used to be...not sure). See the pattern? I bet my last dollar if he was a site sponsor, it would've gotten deleted right away. Now...that being said... I've personally met Andy at the track. Yep, he's cocky on the boards. However, nice as can be and VERY personable... Answered a few questions I had, and I enjoyed speaking with him. His shop is VERY close to the sand drags I go to, so...he has some representation there. Point being....if he was a paying member or sponsor of PS...that 15 or 20 page thread would've never, ever happened. -
THE TRUTH THE HOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH

Yep...helluva sales pitch here. I'm sure Jared called him up right away to buy...uh, oh, nothing. Just advice. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=70816&hl= Yep, another had sell. Answered this new guys questions completely and offered to help on the phone...I'm sure IF he sells that 189.00 VForce setup, he can retire. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=70499&hl= Yet another classic...tells this guy to go to an autoparts store to get what he needs, and offers the name of the autoparts store. No mention of PM or selling here: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=70777&hl= Holy Shit....I'm sure Jeff sold this guy a cub motor once he bait and switched him for a simple shifter adjustment... :shoothead: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=70734&hl= His next three posts are for VForce Reeds, stocking stuffers, and carb jets. Which...the user asked for. Ok, salesman of the year there. Next thread is about syncing carbs. Which Jim @ Passion AND Bob @ RB replied to. they must be sales men of the year too. And that's just the last few posts.... Yeah, like he didn't offer help in any one of those. Odaen....you say you have a problem with said builder, yet I don't read here anywhere what he did or didn't do for you, if you've ever talked to him, etc. Maybe you're just a little sour cause you got a spanking by a FAST bike, who knows?? Either way, I stand by my statement of....you obviously haven't worked with or talked to FAST, because those of us who have rate his service, pricing and helpfulness top notch. -
I thought the book was way better than the movie, and I haven't read a book in years. (I gave helldriver my hooked on phonics years ago, he still hasn't returned it...) I personally like Dan Brown's writing style. Angels and Demons was a better book that the code, I thought. I also read two of his other books, deception point and digital fortress. If you don't like the code cause of his style, don't bother picking the other books up, same writing style in each. For the Code and A&D, that's what made me not want to put the book down. I think I finished each in 4 or 5 days. But after those, the other two took more time. You kinda felt that pattern of his style. I thought they were all good books, but A&D was the best IMO....

That's the same guy that has like 4 or 6 flooring stores in Florida or something, and is supposedly rich... He fucked over NYUK too, I'm pretty sure.... It's not the money, it's the point, I agree...and since this guy supposedly wipes his ass with Franklins, I don't see the issue....

First thing I'd do since you mentioned desert and Glamis is open up that air box. Any pipe you choose will benefit even more for better breathing. I'd get a K&N, remove the lid and get a pro flow adapter so the filter seals. Or, if you're really never gonna see water or mud, ditch the airbox all together and get a pair of pod filters. I thought the gnarly pipes were made of a thicker steel as well...so they don't dent as easily. I know on MX bikes that's the case.... FMF makes a fine pipe indeed. If you are going to keep the porting stock, stay away from top end/drap orientated pipes, like Shearer, CPI, Rockets, RDZ and Grand River. You said you want a cruiser...not a rocket. Well...those pipes listed above are great pipes, but are designed to be run on bikes with free flowing air filters, bigger carbs and aggressive port work. Toomey pipes are a fine offering as well. T5 or T6 will fit your needs.

Just did a compression test on my cylinders
dajogejr replied to differentstrokes's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
There's no way anyone can tell you with 100% certainty what octane you'll need. Personally...with a good advance on the timing, I'd run the leaded race gas...100%. Mixing pump and race gas gets real old, real fast. Unless you want to take the time to run full race gas, then mix...then backing it down till it detonates...etc. When it comes to octane, compression and timing, I'm on the safe bus. -
Dayum.... I thought it was a nice little jump comparing my 64mm stockers to the 68's in my cub. That's like David and Goliath on the bench... I'd love to see that thing run.
-
Yeah, please take the caps lock off, that's the equivalent of shouting on the net. What have you just done recently? Jetting, electrical, car wash (pressure wash)....spark plugs? I know you are in the midst of gathering Ideas on how to beat your buddies raptor...but, have you done anything to the bike at all?
-
Fm...with a Dyna and 18cc domes, you're gonna need race gas... I'm sure there have been a cracked head, etc., but blowing a hole would take a big bang, like nitro, NOS or turbo induced I think. It might mean less lift on the head... You'll be just fine. Just buy new Orings before you install the head. Many will tell you to reuse 'em, for 20 bucks, unless you JUST put 'em on, why chance it?

THE TRUTH THE HOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH
dajogejr replied to ORNANGE CRUSH's topic in Drag Forum
Jeff called me out of the blue to BS about this a couple days ago...I was busy at work and didn't have too much time, but...it's ridiculous. I'll say the same thing about PS here as I did to him. They are a wealth of information that you simply can't find here. But the whole thing about banning Jeff for not paying to advertise with them is a joke. There are PLENTY of shops on there that don't advertise and I don't see them banned. I guess that's the price Jeff has to pay for success and being busy. PS is a great informative site, but their admin and politics policies suck.... Say what you want about the HQ...but, you don't see people banned without a DAMN good reason, or posts being deleted if they happen to offend the wrong person or the wrong person's buddy.... Rippen...I agree with you. I respect odaen and his knowledge. I've told him that before. But this BS post lynching policy is stupid. He's never done a thing to you, bad mouthed you, etc. I know your reason is "he's a salesman and doesn't post much tech help on the forums". Well...if all he did was sit on the net all day, how would he get work done? Also....you obviously have never talked to him on the phone. Per Tyler Clark, I got the FAST clutch from him, beginning of last year. You'd have thought I bought a 4K Motor from him with as much help as he offered me. So...naturally, when it came time to spend cabbage on my cub, he got the call. If you don't like Jeff or FAST Odaen...fine, so be it. But don't talk about shit that you don't know about. By your statements and smart ass comments in the last few of his threads, it's clear to anyone that has dealt with Jeff that you clearly haven't. Don't PM me ...etc. If you have something to say, say it here.
