your cold start problem is most likely pilot jet / airscrew adjustment. from what you have said so far i would start out at a 290 main or mebe even a 300 and make sure to do a plug reading.... in my 98 with fatty's, k&n with outerwear, no lid i run 280's with the needle in the 4th clip and a 27.5 pilot and the air screw @ 1.75 turns out but im @ 800 to 900 ft, hope this helps
