  1. lol with ur build i wouldn't settle for any less than VF reeds .... they're proven performers and there's noway the srp or pyramids can out flow VF........... VF has way more petal area!!
  2. awwww come on guys... ya'll know that everyone that has a banshee just has to have 100hp lol .... most dont realise just how much a good port and some minor mods can increase the fun factor ...
  3. a good woods/mx type port should be just what ya are looking for. there's alot of good builder's out there that can do the porting for ya, i would look into passion, gorr, FAST just to name off a few for ya.
  4. what type of racing? drag,oval,tt,woods,drag ????
  5. im pretty sure jim usually recomends shearer's ... but it depends on ur build, cause can port around any pipe. im sendin a set of jugs out for a lil passion when the next top end is due ...
  6. mxr4's hook up like a mofo ... i run the 18's on mine and a 15t frt ... and have more than enough top end
  7. http://passionracingengines.com/Products.html http://www.gopartsdirect.com/atv/onlinecat...troke%20Exhaust
  8. your cold start problem is most likely pilot jet / airscrew adjustment. from what you have said so far i would start out at a 290 main or mebe even a 300 and make sure to do a plug reading.... in my 98 with fatty's, k&n with outerwear, no lid i run 280's with the needle in the 4th clip and a 27.5 pilot and the air screw @ 1.75 turns out but im @ 800 to 900 ft, hope this helps
  9. pressure test that motor for saftey's sake ... of oil is comin outta the overflow tube then the gearcase is pressurizing ... only way that can happen is a leak from the crankcase to the gearcase when ya build a 2 stroke its best to use plenty of premixed fuel to flush the cases out, then use the oil you are going to run as build lube. just my .02
  10. im runnin the vito's i hear they're made by shearer and they are plain out loud ... loud idn't a good thing if you ride trails, we have lost a ton of riding area because of loud atv's. lol i hadda dvx400 that sounded like a harley with straights on it, that bastid would hurt ur ears. but lol ya can alway rip that pesky packing outta ur silencers and be loud tho.
  11. if your draggin' then i would look to some pwk 33 or pwk35 depending on where your goin with ur porting. in theory a smaller carb venturi should give quicker throttle response due to the increased velocity of the air passing thru the carb .. LOL guess i hadda brain fart LOL
  12. spark plug heat range goes up as the number goes down ie: a 7 is hotter than a 8. A.W. the reason some swap the rz or rd motor in is for the use of powervalves. they give ya more low end cause the exhaust port is controlled by the PV. lol the ultimate 2 stroke swap would be the gamma 500 WooooooooT
  13. ya the sideplate that was under the clip ya removed. most of the time they come right off, but they can be a bastid sumtimes.
  14. sometimes the sideplate will stick on the o-ring chains, take a small flat tip screwdriver and gently pry it apart. lol ya might have to get a little rough with it if it's really stuck.
  15. ya the stock carbs will run fine ..... ya will see a topend gain with sum bigger carbs tho. i would start out @ 350 main , 30 pilot, middle clip position, just my .02
  16. ya the rings on my 98 and 03 aren't molded in theyre just slipped over .. they where stuck tho, really stuck! LOL
  17. driiling them out is gonna be easiest, i went with straght cut gears when i put mine in.
  18. well here is my little fix for the problem .... there are some rubber rings on the radiator hose that keep the spring where it belongs. slide the rubber ring down to the point that teh pipe hits the hose, the ring will keep it from melting the hose. i ran mine that way for about 3 years and the rubber ring never got more than a slight scortch. LOL and ya don't gotta drain ur coolant either!!!!!!!!
  19. the spacer youare refering too goes between the grab bar and the siliencer. they should bolt up using the stock mounting points
  20. Every new bike or quad that leave's the factory is always " the hottest ,baddest, fastest thing around" especially if ur listenin to what the factory or the pro's, and magazines! LOL they get paid to give props to the machine even if it is a rolling pile of elephant shit!
  21. make sure all the hoses and tubes are connected to your carbs.. it soundslike ya may need to adjust your airscrew clockwise richens the mixture. as far takin the 450r's thats gonna depend on your tuning abilities and the stated of tune your motor is in
  22. most likely the clutch as everyone has said ... trans and clutch work on a shee is really simple.. my 03 has made a wierd knockin noise since it came home from the stealership, i was around back when the rz's 1st came out and we all know theyre basicly the same and i gotta say they are the noisiest obsene soundin trans around .. most noises in a banshee trans are the nature of the beast
  23. would go with some 38mm carbs and go with either shearer or cpi pipes .. just to be sure on the set up, ya can pull ur head and make sure the bottom of the tranferports are even with the top of the piston at BDC then check out ur squish LOL trinty is about lame as they come
