  1. I will have to try it out. Ill make sure I bring my stock sprocket along for the ride just in case I change my mind. I have been reading alot of negative feedback about dropping a tooth.
  2. And freeplay should be 0.6 inches? Thats what the clymers says... but I know mine right now is like 1.5 inches and that seems tight
  3. Done. Put it on a few min ago. Had to adjust the chain a bunch.... stupid question... how do you make sure the axel is straight after adjusting the chain.. im looking at the rear sprocket and the chain appears to go straight to the front sprocket.. but I dont just like eyeing it.
  4. Mods are in the sig. I am getting ready for the season and first trip will be to Glamis. Should I change out my stock gearing? I have a 13 tooth front on hand that I never installed. Any pro's and con's? Probably will be doing some minor dragging, but other than that just riding around.

  6. Is your oil milky? Have you done a compression check? You could be leaking coolant into the motor... is your coolant level lower than usual? If that is the issue then fix the problem and make sure you change your oil.

  10. First Time I have had the head off. In the process of installing a coolhead. Just wanted to make sure the pistons look right. Both of them look like this. Dont know what that black stuff .
  11. Have you checked your spark and tried different plugs?

I have a nice aluminum folding ramp that plenty wide and fits all quads (no positioning of 2 different ramps to get it just right) and it hooks onto the hitch so there is no way it can slide out from underneath you. However I quickly realized that it was quicker to put the bike in without a ramp, than to get the ramp out and set it up. So now the ramp is just collecting dust.
  13. Well.. see the problem is that I am taking them off the line.. I am starting in 2nd and I get ahead about 1 bike length.. then they start pulling me in. Clutch probably has about 30 hours on it.
  14. I've been thinking about that. Probably will get a Noss Cool Head & domes on the bike before my next ride.
  15. My current jetting is stock pilot, needle in stock position, 310 mains. Now the power feels good and the bike really punches with the mods below, but I am having some issues. When I race other bikes.. doesnt really matter which bike (raptors or yfz450's) for some reason I always take them off the line by about 1 bike length, but then they start to pull up on me really quick and pass me, and then finally when I hit about 5th I start to pull up on them again but by that time the races is pretty much over. Now I am pretty new to dragging the shee, so I am sure 60% of my problem is rider error, but its getting pretty frustrating. So I am thinking possibly I have a jetting issue. Any ideas on the jetting... the mid range kind of sputters so I am going to bump the clip down a notch. PS. My WOT plug chops look good.

  18. 1st question.... did you turn the gas on? 2nd question... did you check the plugs for spark? 3rd question... are the carbs put back together properly? After cleaning the carbs once I didnt tighten my pilot jet and it fell out producing similar results to what you are having.
  19. Never really noticed it before, so I assume it wasnt like that.. but it ran great regardless.. should I just not worry about it?
  20. Jetted up.. had to go 3 sizes up on the mains because thats all I had available.. but it ran like a raped ape (which is a good thing)... good cheap mod that makes some insane acceleration! Only thing I noticed that was off... was if I let off the gas it bike would kinda rumble and rattle a little as it got into the low RPM's for a secod.. so everytime I would rev it and let it come down the bike would shake a little bit... any thoughts on that one?
  21. I adjusted the pickup coil gap and it seems to be running better... .almost right... so maybe I just need to jet up 1 size. Thanks for all the assistance.
  22. Checked the timing plate.. still set right at the case splits at +4.. took flywheel off again and the woodruff key is seated.. torqued the flywheel to specs... same thing... think going up 1 size on the mains will do anything.. .feels rich right now

I just installed a Ricky Stator adj. timing plate (+4 degrees) and a lightened flywheel from boonman (awesome job duder!)... put it back together.. started right up.. reved good in neutral.. however after warmin her up I took her out for a spin and it seems to bog right before hitting the powerband and bogs through it.. jetting was dialed in perfectly prior to this and I doubt it made that big of a change... if the pickup coil gap was off would it cause this situation?
