  1. .125 is to light, that grade of aluminum is for drag racing. get some .160 douglas, they are a good grade for dunes. btw watkins, dont get a 05 man, its gonna be red stickered. look for a used banshee that is from 2002 and older, they are green stickers. u want to be able to ride all year. 03-05 banshees are red stickered. Yeah I know about the silly red stickers.. kind of irritates me.. however, I would like something brand spankin new (just my preference) that way I know exactly what I am getting into and can mod the hell out of it.
  2. Also.. just to make sure.. i assume that the '05 will be the same as all previous years right? Because on rmatv they only list like tires for the '05... but if i go a year prior is shows me everything
  3. well just wanted to start off kind of slow with some basic mods.. the carb will probably give me enough trouble ( i am mechanically challenged ), so i don't think I will put new heads on it until next season. However, the nicest mod I will put on... get ready for this..... temperature gauge
  4. Ok, I will be getting an '05 Banshee in about 2 weeks and think I have figured out what Mods I want for the riding I am going to be doing (want some more low end). Here is what I think I need so far: FMF Fattys FMF Q Silencer K&N Filter Trinity 2in1 35mm Carb What tires should I get for dirt, and what should I get for sand? What sizes and brands... Any other ideas? Are the mods I listed worth it?
  5. Like they all said.. be patient your time will come. When they do let you out and then asked ya what you did all night, tell them the truth... because when they ask and you say "I drank 10 beers and 5 shots of tequilla" they will just laugh and think you are joking.. works like a charm.. always told them what i did and the never believed me ... but regardless just be smart and try not to find yourself waking up in the ladies bathroom at 7-11.
  6. I am curious what the 8th position of the 2005 Banshee's is. I know here in Cali, if its a 3 or a C you are limited to when you can ride it. If its not then its year round. Anyone have a 2004 or 2005 banshee that they could tell me what the 8th digit is in the vin?
  7. thanks for all the input. I'll stick with the banshee.. i want to do some trail riding, but also want to blow my buddies away on the straight aways.
  8. If I install a 2in1 Carb, will I need to worry about jetting?
  9. But at what costs? Will the 2in1 take away from the top end?
  10. I am new to banshee's. I have heard that you are supposed to always keep them in powerband... is this correct? If so, is it not good to just put around from time to time?
  11. The only reason I am asking, is because I heard that Banshee's have a great top end but the bottom end is weak. I am getting a banshee and just wanted to see if I would be able to do some trail riding and still have fun.... also I heard they can't turn well stock.. what can be done to resolve this.. or is it even an issue?
  12. ok.. how bad is the stock bottom end anyways?
  13. I am in the process of getting a new stock banshee and was wondering if there is a way to get more out of the Low End?
  14. So for just desert riding the banshee would be the best? One of my friends keeps telling me to get a Honda 250R because they handle better and are easier to maintain... any truth? Also, I've just heard banshee's dont turn very well... will that impair me in the desert or is that just for mx? I just want to have fun. Also, how hard is it to maintain a banshee... if I keep it stock will i ever have to mess with it? The twin-cylinders & carbs scare me, and I am not that good of a mechanic. Final Question.. is a banshee the best bike for me if all i want to do is have a great time in the desert without lots of problems?
  15. What is the proper break-in procedure for a new banshee. I want to get one next month and have it broken in and ready for the October desert season (red sticker).
  16. It sounds killer but I won't have the cash for another month (sold an investment property) so If I were to buy stock, what kind of break-in is excepted. Also I am in California and I understand with the newer two-strokes its difficult to get a sticker, and if you do get one you are limited to what months you can ride... any truth in this?
  17. Well.. I will be riding mostly out in the Desert on hard pack, and occasionally on the dunes. So not much trail riding. I think the banshee is the way to go, plus the name is kick a$$ What kind of upgrades should I do right off the bat? I heard new tires are a must.. any specific brands? Also, what is the general break-in procedure on a brand new "shee"? Just want to know what I am in for up front so I can plan my desert season. Lots of questions, but I am new to all this so any help would be excellent!
  18. Hey all. I am new to quads (used to riding my YZ250 dirt bike) and I am now looking at buying a Sport ATV. I have always loved Yamaha's but wanted to see what you all think. Some of my buddies have banshee's and love them. Here is what I want, something new, something fast, something fun. Price is no option (prefer under 9K). I prefer 2-stroke. Now I heard Yamaha has a new beast out that is killer (YFZ450). Any thoughts on what I should get? Is the Banshee the way to go?
