Thinking of selling my 450
BigRed350x replied to BigRed350x's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
I got it more as a backup bike to ride when I was working on the shee. Its a great machine and has incredible power in factory form. My only complaint about it is the suspension is kinda stuff for my style of riding. Even at the softest setting its still a little hard for my tastes. Its got more a 2-stroke powerband to it and hits really hard in the midrange. I've just always been more into the 2-strokes and the banshees and can't really seem to make myself as interested in modding the 450 as I am about the two-strokes. Its fun, just not really my kinda fun. -
Thinking of selling my 450

Honestly I have no idea man. I was more interested in what offers people put out there to see what I might be able to get for it. It is an 06 though, in really good condition with a sound engine. -

Which ball joints did you replace? All of the ones on the a-arms? Maybe after we get yours put back together we could meet up with both rides and trade back and forth. LOL Hopefully my truck will be fixed here before too long and we could meet in the next couple weeks and I could bring the 450 out and maybe we could meet up there at my ranch and I could show you around. Would be fun. - Jared -
Thinking of selling my 450

Oooh that's a tempting trade! I will actually have to think about that. -
Been thinking about selling my 450 or possibly trading it for another banshee. If I do trade, I woudl like to do a straight across trade for something of equal value. Not sure on what I would ask for it if I sell it outright. Give me some offers if anyone is interested or if you have something you would be interested in trading straight across show me what you got. 2006 YFZ450 Intake manifold from ebay w/ K&N Filter. Baffle removed from exhaust. I welded an older set of banshee pegs (minus their mounting bracket) to the footpegs on the 450. Made them a little wider for a passenger, since I was riding double for a while. I can cut them off or leave them welded on if you want them on there. Both front and rear plastics have been cut and painted black. Other than that its all totally stock. Starts right up and runs freaking awesome!

rod play? how much is a bad thing?
BigRed350x replied to yamaha04's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Man, I remember my old 87 had crazy side to side play and I ran the piss out of it. Thinking back now... I never would have run that crank now-a-days. I was a poor high school kid though. Ha Ha! Probably helped contribute to my engine blowing up every time i rode the stupid thing. Ha Ha! I've used cranks in the past that had a little bit of side to side play. (like under .100") one way. With no problems. I don't know an official spec though. Side to side is ok as long as its very minimal, but any up and down play... scrap it! -
Stop and hit up KP on your way to idaho. If you are comming from the west, just make the extra 5hrs to KP. Its well worth any trip. Least Ridden 10k+ acre dunes in the country. I live a half hour from them. =)

How do you start a flooded banshee?
BigRed350x replied to 370ccblack&white's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Its not really THAT common of a thing, but it does happen. Its usually due to not having the flywheel torqued up to the right spec. The flywheel moves a little bit on the crank and will shear off the key in some cases. -
2-stroke GoPed Sale/Trade
BigRed350x replied to BigRed350x's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
I'm looking for performance parts mostly. Just stuff to get this thing away from stock until I can get the bigger parts I'm looking for. Pipes, Reeds, Cool Head Shell (have domes already), bigger carbs, longer swingarm, etc etc. Basically anything other than stock stuff. I have a laundry list of fancy parts I want to get for my new 06, but I want to wait until I have everything on the list to build it up so I can do it all at once. In the mean time I'm just looking for the basic mod stuff to get a little more out of it so I can actually get out and play a little. Stock Sucks. Thing is gutless as all hell after having a 4mm cub. - Jared -
Sweet deal! You will love the powervalve I'm sure. I'm tempted to try a PV top end on my next buildup. Its still up in the air. Give us some ride reviews of it and what you think of it. Lets see the pics!!

OK I bought this thing from a guy on another board. It took a little time to get it tuned right, and I must say that it scared the hell out of me the first time I rode it. Its crazy fast. We left black tire burnout marks all over the machine shop with it last night. LOL It has a lot of aftermarket parts on it, but I'm not familiar with these things, so I can't really tell you much about it other than what I was told about it. I am 185lbs and it will get up and boogy real fast with me on it. retardedly fast. Scared me enough to bail off of it the first time it got in the powerband real good the first time. I jumped off and picked it up into the air and let it spin down. It was nuts. I bought it thinking... hell yeah this will kick ass. got it all tuned then realized I don't really have anything I would do with it. Its WAY too cold to ride around here in town, and I have a damn truck for that. All I would be doing would be pissing off neighbors with it. So I'd either like to sell it or trade it for some banshee parts. It would make a great christmas present for some crazy bastard teenager or someone who's still a teenager at heart. Its fast, way faster than the ones you buy at local stores. Its built for racing and speed and does its job quite well from the few times I rode it. It needs a little TLC (could use a new throttle cable and a new spark plug wire cap) but runs and looks great as it sits. It took me about 3 hours of tuning on it (wasn't familiar with the little carb it has) and got it running really damn good. Throttle is REALLY snappy and responsive. Bored to 29cc, Ported (don't know by who), high perfomance exhaust. billet racing wheels, o'neil racing handle bars, 3rd bearing support, aluminum deck, powder coated race clamps, walbro carb, ddm race gas tank with cover. I'm sure it has other stuff too, but that's all he told me about it. It looks good and runs awesome. I just realized I don't have much use for it after I bought it. LOL I got it for $280 and it didn't run when I got it. I've cleaned it up a lot and got a spare pipe for it. I'd like to get $350 shipped for it, and it will come with the spare pipe. Or Trade for some aftermarket banshee parts. Let me know what you have if you are interested in a trade. I have a totally stock banshee that needs some stuff! - Jared If I have time tomarrow I will get some video of it running down at the shop and will add it to this post when I get home.

Good Point made here.

I went screaming around the sand dunes a LOT wide open. For minutes at a time. No damage. Just like the other guy said, be sure your jetting is good or your won't be too happy.

Holy crap, 7G for a frame!?! Seems a bit high to me, for the couple of pounds you lose it doesn't quite seem worth it to me. I dunno what you look like or anything, but a diet would seem a lot cheaper and a lot more practical to lose 20 something lbs. haha  EDIT: Wallrat you beat me to it! Bastard! lol

2006 YFZ 450 Tricked out /trade for Shee
BigRed350x replied to maraudernkc's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
LOL, you haven't been around any fast 450's then. I have some friends you wouldn't want to ride with. I think the guy above you cleared that up quite well. -
Just pull them out and grow up dude. That was gay. I've been stabbed by way worse than that and have the scars to prove it.

It sucks that he broke down way out there like that, but come on guys... shit happens. The fact that the guy (whoever it is) is working with him to try and fix the situation is good. Might not be a free total replacement, but he's doing SOMETHING. That's what matters. Its hard to tell how much is too much and how much isn't enough sometimes. It would be tough to measure how thick it was in that one spot unless you had a set of machinists mics or something. A flywheel can be picked up on ebay cheap, and he said he would re-cut it, so the guy is doing something for him. Yeah, it sucks it broke for him, but thats the nature of the beast. we all do stuff to our bikes that decreases reliability, but its a risk we take for the fun we have. Hope you can get things sorted out man. - Jared

Gotta love freaking walden altitude. People don't really understand what the alitutude does to your performance. I bet if we took some of the big bikes from walden and took them to sea level it would be crazy! Lots of tuning though. I would hate to meet someone who rides sea level at walden trying ot tune their stuff. That would be a jetting nightmare... 0ft to 8000+ft. My ranch has elevations from 7000ft all the way up to about 8800ft. It gets to be a pain in the butt when I go from KP to my ranch back and forth every month. Fuel injection would be sweet, but I'm still skeptical of it right now on quads. Havne't seen very many FI ones run as good as I thought they would.

Wondering if anyone has tried this..
BigRed350x replied to kubiac3's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
DC Conversion and an eletrica fan that will fit just inside your fadiator shroud does exactly what you are looking to do here. Seen a lot of them like that at the walden dunes. You will need the DC conversion to really take advantage of the fan though. If you are jetted right and getting at least a little bit of air moving through your radiator you won't need it though. If you need a fan to cool your bike, your jetting is way off, or you need to get your ass back in the saddle and quick sitting around idling all the time. :ninja: -
2006 YFZ 450 Tricked out /trade for Shee
BigRed350x replied to maraudernkc's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
Actually its not that hard or expensive to get the 450's to run with the banshees. Once you get up into the bigger stroker motors on the banshees its about the same to build both as fast as the other. A pipe, intake, cam, nitrous, etc isn't really that expensive if you compare it to a head, reeds, pipes, porting... -
Holy Fucking Shit I laughed so hard at that post. What a bunch of douche fucks.
-
That's gay, your left leg would be all jacked over just to ride it.
