You guys don't seem to get it... its physically impossible for your bike to go those speeds with the gearing it has and the tires it has, and the power output of your engine isn't enough to push the bike to those speeds. Go do your math and figure out what the gear ratios are and you would find out its impossible. The pipes you are running won't allow the engine to even rev high enough to turn the rpm's you would need to reach those speeds. ROFL, I garuntee you that if you think your bike will go over 100mph you wouldn't be able to hold onto a bike that actually DOES go that fast. ...and just for the record, I do "balls up" and take my twister bike a hell of a lot farther than 300ft every time I run it. edit: Also, with your stock banshee, down a tooth in front, up one in the rear... you actually geared it lower than stock, and even with a set of hi-rev pipes you would be lucky to hit 70's mph

Whats better a twister cylinder or a super cub?
BigRed350x replied to Pedro's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yep, the twister cylinders are more expensive. You get what you pay for. The craftsmanship and materials used in the twisters are second to none. -
Keep in mind that we don't race on a track. We hill-shoot. Different worlds, and the bikes handle different. We have power loss through suspension movement, don't use a solid chassis with a wheelie bar, etc. We don't run a million paddles and try and hook up as hard as we can out of the hole. The bike in my sig actually handles pretty well on the hills. We intentionally under-paddle it in some situations. The few times it has seen a track it was run with a wheelie bar and struts.

Finially got the crossover tube he promised. His was bent when he found it, so he had to get one off egay, just didn't que me in on what was going on.

HaHa! I know what you mean. Its the same at Walden sand dunes up here in colorado. Skinny crap snags parts like crazy. I just look at your bike and imagine a set of +2+1 or +3 chrome a-arms on it how sweet it would be.

ROFL, hope you have magic tires! Cause those little 20's or 22's you've got in your pic won't get you to 105 with that gearing. Posting big dreams in a for sale ad doesn't help your sale, just makes you look like a fool to the folks who know these machines and what it takes to make them go that fast.

h&s streamline plastic custom paint job

Hey tripd's, send me some bigger pics to [email protected] and I'll post the bigger pics for you. Is it a flame job on them? My girl would love those on her banshee. -
You've got some detonation issues going on. If your plugs are backing out, don't just keep tightening them up and keep riding. Fix the problem. I'd try by backing your timing down a little bit and see if it helps. If not, then you have 2 options... bigger domes, to drop your compression to where the detonation stops, or change fuels. If it were me, I'd just swap to methanol and keep the domes and timing you have now. It takes a hell of a lot to detonate meth, and your engine will run cooler.

If you're looking to save some coin I'd mod your stocker or go with Alf's deal. He's a good guy to deal with. If you have the money to spend, get the one loco pointed you at.

Whats better a twister cylinder or a super cub?
BigRed350x replied to Pedro's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Twister cylinder gets my vote. Everyone and their brother has a cub. Simple fact, as loco said, the cubs take a lot less knowledge and setup experience to make them run right. Pretty much any base gasket and any domes any carbs and any pipes and they run good. The twister cylinders don't necessisarly require more porting, but they do require a more precise install and setup criteria to be met to run good. There is some additional case porting that needs to be done with the twister cylinders than the cub cylinders, which requires epoxy. But the cylinders themselves come set up with pretty high port timings right from louie. The twisters have a specific thickness base gasket, certain dome shapes, certain carb setups and are finiky with pipe designs. BUT, if you get them all set up right, the twister setup will scream. Plus, you will have a cylinder setup in the end that not everyone and their brother has. The twister cylinders also have changeable exhaust flanges and different changeable intake sizes. The twister cylinders also have better head stud alignment and will handle the stresses and flex that happens in the head during the compression and firing phases. I've got a 10mil big block twister (in my sig) and a buddy of mine has a 4mil small block twister. They are our favorite bikes out of all of them we have. I'd go billet over cast any day of the week. -
105mph eh? What gearing? I'm gonna call BS on that.

Holy crap your swinger is gonna be heavy. Ditch your swinger for a chromoly or 3/4 tube unit. JJ&A would drop quite a bit of weight off your bike too. The lighter you can make it the faster you will go. Your frame looks stock too. Go lighten that bitch, its free and every little bit helps. Drop the headlights and plastics too. I don't think you will have much of an issue. 250r's have never impressed me.

Getting ready to start my first build
BigRed350x replied to Stumbaugh's topic in General Banshee Discussion
A few little parts you should look into... Pancake Bearing Roller bearing mod on the shift star Billet Basket billet impeller Cascadeinnovations.net is a great place for parts, both OEM and aftermarket. Rockymountainatv.com is another great source for parts. As you build and come up with questions jump on here and do a quick search, if you can't find what you're looking for just ask. Sounds like you've got a good start from what you've listed. I would suggest 34 or 35mm carbs with a 4mil dune/drag bike. They are easy to come by and easy to set up. Also keep an eye on the for sale section. You can get a lot of the parts you will need from other members here for a lot less than retail. -
I'd get a hold of Firehead here on HQ and talk to him about the porting. My 10mil Big Block made 152hp, so your 20mil should make a lot more than 154hp set up right. Is that on gas or meth?
-
All the time and money invested and you couldn't manage to ditch the stock a-arms for a nice set of +2+1's? Nice bike man. Good luck selling. I've had my 10mil big block twister listed for a while now with no bites.
-
Sweet! Is that black bike the 12mil? Looks like it gets up and goes pretty good.

Cool vid! I don't know why you guys race over in all those whoops when you go just a little farther over and its a smooth hill. (at least it was last time I was there.) That's the best part about KP is there aren't stupid whoops like that at our hill. Nice n smooth top to bottom.

That's the twister in my sig. That's a kinda slow run on that bike. We were running 10-paddle extremes (which is WAY under-paddle for that bike) racing at 8500ft elevation, and geared low for races that long. You can see in the twister clip that it doesn't hook up for the first 2 or 3 gears. Once it gets 4th reved out and into 5th it finially gets traction and goes. lol We normally run 12 paddle or 14 paddle extremes. The rest of those videos (except the St. Anthony ones) are at KP or Walden which is 7200ft and 8500ft respectively. Look forward to riding with all you guys this summer. We usually do St. Anthony in july or august. Easter weekend we are hitting up sand mountain UT, then KP for memorial. Probably St. Anthony for the 4th. If anyone wants to come ride at KP with us, we will probably start hitting those dunes in late march / early april. - Jared

Here's some videos I have of some stock cylinder bikes cookin up the hills. There's some clips in there of my buddy gregrob who is 300lbs racing against the Hansen Performance guys on his FAST 4mil drag bike. If a stock framed 4mil bike can keep up with their little light-weight jockey'd bikes I know my 10mil Twister would have no trouble at all with them. LOL - Jared http://s260.photobucket.com/albums/ii14/WyoBanshee/?action=view¤t=797f554a.flv

I'll line up with your 12mil's with my 10mil twister. The hansen boys can sit on the sidelines and get video for us. LOL
-
I'm putting a video together for you tonight with clips of a bunch of our stock cylinder bikes racing, including the FAST drag bike up at St. Anthony with the 300lb rider right there with the hansen boys. I'll upload it tomarrow when I get to work. My connection here at home isn't fast enough to handle big video uploads. It will be up tomarrow sometime. - Jared

I used to wax 310R and 330R's all day long out at KP with my 4mil cub, and it wasn't set up right at all when I had that bike. A well set up drag ported banshee on methanol will have no problem handling a honda, even if its built up.

It depends on your carbs. On stock carbs your idle screw are on the sides, not the tops. The screws on the tops of your carbs are used for syncing up your throttle position and taking up slack in the cables. If you don't have the idle screws installed on your carbs and are running the tors removal kit, then go buy the idle screws and adjust your idle the correct way.

Stock Stroke Dune Ported Cylinders
BigRed350x replied to BigRed350x's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
You will have to get a set of domes made for the cylinders. It will need back-cut domes similar to what you would do with a 4mil stock cylinder build. Just measure the deck height and decide what compression you want (cc) and give those two items to dave at noss, or your preferred builder and they will send you the domes to work with these cylinders. -
Which locals are you talking about? We had a FAST 4mil drag port STOCK CYLINDER up there and we ran side by side with all the hansen performance guys, and have videos to prove it, and the rider was over 300lbs. I've got a stock cylinder 4mil that keeps up with a lot of aftermarket cylinder bikes out there. I've also had a 4mil stock cylinder K&T bike that outran cheetahs and cubs pretty easy.
