  1. weather was excellent. just no wind so it felt hot.
  2. ok so i tried the 2-1 trinity intake and a pj 38mm old cr500 carb. had a DEK needle lying around and also made up 2 other needles that were richer overall to try out. ended up at a 48/ 195 main on a set of super mild stockers, ( brindge clean up, exhaust port match on top, transfers rounded) it got great mileage. was fun to ride and seemed to pull nice on top. i like it so far. i'm going to keep playing with it and after i get the majorly ported cylinders back on will report back to this thread. this is not my only bike its my rider arounder bike. i'm not looking for full on drag racing power i want mileage, midrange, and decent roll on power with good throttle pull. so far its working great.
  3. i'll just have to hit them both,.
  4. then it will rain all day saturday again..
  5. the bore is round and ok in all 3 spots? is it already been bored and has ran cast pistons in it? if your lookign for OEM rings hat should be easy. if yo uneed ART or PROX rings that should be easy also. they all use oem style rings if i rember right, if you need NAMURA rings just buy the damn kit for 125 bucks. if you need wiseco's better check your clearance at the top of the piston most times the lower section of the skirt is maybe showing ok but up at the top of the piston there is a shit ton of wall clearance. if the motor "knocked" or rattled or had "piston slap" you better just get some new ones.. i have seen a lot of cast pistons not wear the bores bad at all BUT forged usually have pretty good wear in the cylinder and not as much on the piston. just what i have seen over the years.
  6. the stock trans has almost no space for the dogs to engage, so with nothing moving will almost always jam inbetween one or 2 gears going up or down. the shift shaft also has issues and the star / drum has some minor issues.. the problem you came into with the shaft binding is pretty comon you can plan on needing to replace the shaft between 1 and 3 years depending on how much you ride. also replace the eccentric, and spring when you do a shaft. you should have ok shifting after replacing and doing what you did.
  7. any competent " assembler" can buy one of those "kits" order domes from whoever "builder" they prefer. assemble the complete motor correctly and right pipe combo, carb combo should be able to make decent power.. the problems come from 'assemblers" who have no clue how to tune, how to set up bikes for problem free running or are just to arrogant or to lazy to take the time to really learn about these piles of money pits. every builder and everyone started from ground 0 no matter who or what they are. some just learned faster than others, maybe copied more stuff than others, could afford and spent the time on dyno's and advanced tuning techniques. and or are the BBD at the time. nothing wrong with any of that its how this whole industry works. let alone pretty much any thing revolving around money and life?! there is nothing wrong with a guy wanting to build his own motors. i support that all the time.
  8. i'll get the number of the filters i used. they are 6" at the flange and neck down to 4" or less at the back. a cone filter. k+n
  9. if you shorten the head pipes yes they will change drastically . i would personally try to cut them at the welds and reposition them to clear the a-arms. try and mount the long sections as close to the frame as possible and make the 2 lower pieces curve out then up trinitys are also stainless pipes so rember that when you weld them back up.
  10. both shops are great to deal with. all i have to say is at what point did i build some shit motor?
  11. hot rods crank about 400-450.. price on cheapo crank about 375 to 425 +.? so just have to ask why? and you shoulda modded the trans while you were that far?
  12. i include the modded shift shaft AND the modded star. i dont do the gears only i only do a complete package. i dont know who is doing jeff's for him right now. i will say i sent a couple to him and was working on a deal with him but it never came to be. he may have gotten mad because i engraved them with my name instead of fast. looks to me like 6th pinned the lower rod bearing let go piston to cyl clearance became 0 and piston hit head caused a bent rod. most likely if it dosent have 6+ years on the crank bad tune or lean out from running that far wide open with no power jet, bowl fuel capacity to support the added rev time.
  13. maybe from canada? or can you order the parts in the states if yo have the right part number?
  14. what ever happened to the whole thing dozer??
  15. i just dont think that rear is right... ??? nice table!
  16. jj+a is the best. the small amount of experience with the mod quad i have is that they tend to loosen up some for some weird reason?
  17. its a special shoulder bolt. you need to order OEM at least stock arm uses that.
  18. hsr 50mm lol
  19. i'm pretty much the only one in this group that has a drag bike. my slowest bike would probably smoke anything they have. but its all fun. i'd like to bring a dunner and one drag bike out. but space and other things may decide that one.
  20. mywhiteshee those steel or alluminum?? the powdercoating will not look the same as the anodize. BUT there is an anodize look powder out there. i have a very nice og gold set but not looking to sell them. put the OEM kfx450 tires front and back on them they are kick ass.
  21. i'm pretty sure i have a pair. i will look and let you know
  22. please dont cut that plastic!!
  23. i have one thats complete. no top end pretty sure bottom end is stock crank is toast. 500 + ship. no flywheel or stator
  24. on my 535 with 42/44 lectrons with big bowls at whitefield revving out 5th the bike never ran dry on top. i run a 15/41 gearing with a 1-5 override and hinson straight cut overdrive gears. i dont know how fast we were going but it was a long ways. the 2 others locally there when we went were shutting down as we clicked into 5th. BUT i tune my needle pretty dead on not really rich like some and the DMR pj seems to work well. that is a flat drag not up a mountain. i'm sure the added load of going uphill would change things up a lot.
  25. i might have to get another intake from ya jerry and give it a try with a larger carb. i have a 40mm lectron gasser might work great on.
