  1. that sucks.. i know where a triple is that hasn't ran in about 9+ years i think..
  2. instal pipes start bike do jetting. i would go up at least 2 mains first. and i'm guessing stock carbs since you didnt specify. if kehieninehinenens get a few piolts up2 sizes and down 1 also. just so you have an assortment.
  3. its most likely a pickup gap to big, or its snufing the spark out at the higher rpms. try br9eix ngk plugs and gap them down some. like 20 tho to 18 tho. what coil are you using you could also be overloading the pipes but i wouldnt look into that till you narrow out the other stuff. the aftermarket stator COULD be causing it also. tell shear turbo's dont work. 200+hp and 100ft lbs of tq?? hmm
  4. pasi. have him adjust the needle so its just a tad rich on bottom or right on. you dont even need to ride the bike to do this usually, then adjust the power jet to richen it up on top. the lectron is super simple and very very fast to jet. (IF you have the right needle)
  5. the case hardening is pretty significant. i usually break about 1-3 bits doing these here. i also use coolant and cut them vertically. after the cnc is up and running i think it will go better. a lot of "old timers" were used to cutting easily machinable materials and then heat treating them. at least the old as dirt books i have read that seems to be the case. on a side note i finally got a big rotary table here to do override drums with ye ha! also i think i am starting to like really older machinery. the way they look and the just massiveness of the way they are built is really interesting to me. the 1910 Cincinnati belt drive horizontal mill i just acquired is sweet.
  6. the rings were not for reinforcement.. my fordged 10 mill from TDR ( yes the 8-900 buck one) and pretty much any hotrods 100mm's i have seen have never had a problem.
  7. i vote pink duct tape
  8. you will have to bore after the welding. and if the "welding" heated the cyls up over 350-400 degree's they have most likely lost much of their heat treatment. you should probably check the studs and make sure you can still tq the head to specs without pulling the threads. just a thought.
  9. yup i have had nothing but great dealing with them too.
  10. they do work. just i personally feel to many are only making boost after 9000 rpm. and seem to be ok with that i have my own idears and most revolve around what the outboard people are doing with them. there is just way to much closed minded'ness in the atv world. snomo's are having a blast with them.
  11. oh didnt know i wasnt quite broke in. just get your jetting close and seat the dang rings.
  12. yes and no. some swingers have a small billet adapter on the notch for the caliper mount. others are just a pin and that happens worse. you can either put a small piece of hose on that "nub" and take up the slack a tad. or just ride it.
  13. just jet it to what it wants.. 45 42 38 pilots. use the air screw to determine what the motor likes. then set main then play with needle for fine tune. you cannot just say oh your motor is ( bla bla) then say its going to need ( bla bla jetts) no matter what..
  14. or a 400 cheeta........ might be one already in the works. he he your injection workings are what i have been considering..
  15. mattoon billet basket anodized. fast clutch. NEW boss NEW pressure plate. bearing clutch pusher.. modded stock trans at least.. done ride n do wheelies..
  16. the rk heavy doody chain is weak as all get out. i think they are in the 4500 tensile strength range? get a better chain. like the rk mxz4 you need 7800+ on the strength listing. and stay away from those crap china chains if the chain costs less then 50-60 bucks its crap/.
  17. probably that and using scrap alluminum drops maybe? i mean why not. i can buy drops from a local aircraft machine shop that uses 6061 the chunks are the perfect size for heads.
  18. i had a dodge colt turbo when i was in school.. miss that little turd a lot. the waste gate was jacked up and it way overboosted,. would shred the clutch.. wow thats actually a really nice car. those heads were designed and built by yamaha actually. i also had a small toyota with an 18 rg dual cam head motor like that one. some dealer special order'd it for a "show car" they had built to show off the new designed celica? it was in a 2 door and barely ran when i picked it up.
  19. easy.. install on carbs.. try the main you like with the pj off. get main and all other jetting squared away. drop 1 to 2 main jet sizes open pj up turn down till it leans back down to a runable range. this works good with gas. then if you have weather changes that require a click this way or that way you have a nice "range" to work in. on alky set it rich as can be and tune down from there. after you get close use EGT or Head temp, OR plug readings to get spot on. no not planning on going to Georgia.
  20. ok i'll look for a number.
  21. will try for this event!
  22. the early calipers were much bigger pads. on braided lines with these calipers they are one finger brakes.. the lines screw directly into the calipers. easy to see in those pics.
  23. i'm fat and need valves and tq ha ha
  24. upper not all that important i dont think. lower one yes.
