I painted mine with some high temp paint. I'm not sure what kind it was just that it was for high temp. It's great so far...

what should i do to the nipples on my carb?
Ruko replied to BURKE_DADDY's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I am also running 34mm Mikuni carbs so I went out and had a look at mine. There is three vent lines coming off them both. One on each side and one on the bowl. I don't know what would happen if they were blocked off but if they are supose to be there I would leave them open. Just put a hose on each one and run it down under the carb. That's how mine are. -
Idles, but does not go when I hit the throttle
Ruko replied to Rodeoranger's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Make sure the park brake is also unhooked. There is a wire coming from it that needs to be disconnected as well. A buddy of mine had his do the same thing a couple weeks ago. He unhooked the TORS but it still wouldn't go. Then he shook the park brake wire and waalaa it came right back to life. He already had his plastic back on so he rode like that all day and unhooked it later. So his next mod will be a TORS removal kit. -
I have Sanddragon arms and I am very happy with them. Quicksand is also very popular... searchy searchy.... I just noticed your signature says you have an 87 in which case it would be J arms not A arms. Unless it's been converted.

Rode a couple times now on my Sanddragon arms and they are great. I got the MX arms with the lower shock mounts moved out to fit 450 shocks. I am using Elka shocks off a 450 and the combination is awesome. They look and ride great.. I would definately recommend them.

I've crossed the border a couple times to come down there and ride the dunes at St Anthony's. They only check our I.D. nothing about the quads. We came down once with an enclosed trailer and they just opened the door, had a look inside then closed it up again. The next time we had an open trailer and we just showed our I.D. and kept going. They never asked for any paper work for any of the machines in either direction.

They are now in the For Sale forum... I think he said $40.00 for 2

Works shocks have a ride hieght adjustment. There should be a ring on the top that the spring pushes up against. You can adjust that up or down to get the desired hieght. It doesn't affect the ride just the hieght.

We do a lot of winter riding here in Canada. We have found Spider Trac's with studs work pretty good, but only up to about a foot of snow. After that we break out the sleds. A studded Banshee on a frozen river with little or no snow kicks ass.

Try "extreme-fabrication.com" Or call John @ 435-688-7352. I've got a bumper and some 6-pack racks from him. He makes good stuff and he's great to deal with.

I like the 10" a friend of mine had 22-11-8's and the sidewalls seemed to roll a lot so he switched to 10" and likes them better.
-
The question was if they will fit.... so if it is a 10" diameter rim then they will fit. If it is only an 8" diameter rim then it will not. As far why would you want to... I run 22-11-10 Turf Tamers on a 10x8 rim and they work great. If you put them on a 10x10 rim the rim edge sticks out so if you hit a rock or something it hits the rim, which not only looks like shit, it could bend the edge and cause a leak. On an 8" wide rim the edge of the rim is set in a little bit so rocks and things bounce off the tire and doesn't beat up the rim as much. Of course doing that you have more of a chance of cutting the sidewall of the tire. So it's kinda six of one half dozen of the other. But Ive been running Turf Tamers which I believe are only a 2 ply tire for three years... the tread is done so they ready to replace... but I have never had a leak since they were installed. I have friends who are bending rims all the time but I never have.

He said he has a 10x8 rim, so I would think that is 10" diameter and 8" wide in which case it would fit no problem.

JTM Products makes some bolt on swingarm extentions. I have a +5 and it works great. It bolts on to the stock swingarm with no modifications so you can just take it out whenever you want. I got mine for drag racing and hill climbing but now that I'm used to it I just leave it in most of the time. I've had mine for the last two years and it's been great. When I got mine they had either +2 or +5. I found their number in a Dirt Wheels mag but if you're interested I could get it for you.

Any time you change your jets or needle you should do a plug check before riding. I have also heard when they're lean they run and pull really good... until they melt down.

20x11R8 tires and 8"x8" rims, will it work?
Ruko replied to BansheeCrasher's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Ya they'll fit just fine. -
Ya you can fit them without changing the mount but they raise the front end about 3/4 of an inch. If anything I would like to lower the front about an inch. If I rasied the shock mount the front end should sit a little lower than stock. Also if the upper mount is higher they shouldn't extend down so far to cause the "ball joint failure" which has been rumored to happen. At least that's what I was thinking...

What size domes??

I have some 450 shocks on my Banshee already but I am running Sanddragon A-Arms with the bottom mount moved out to get the right length. They work great but now I want to put some 450 shocks on my girlfriends machine. I have it all stripped down to have it powder coated so I figured why not make new upper shock mounts and raise them up an inch or so?? I read through most of the other posts about 450 shocks and didn't see anything about moving the upper mount. Has anyone tryed this or have any thoughts about it???

HOW CAN I FIND OUT IF MY MOTOR IS STROKED
Ruko replied to wildbansheeboy's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If the crank is still in the cases and the cyl's are off... put a ruler or something on top of the case to measure from. Then push the rod all the way down and measure how high up it is to the top of the rod. Then pull it all the way up and measure again. The diference is the length of the stroke. Stock stroke is 54mm, so +4 would be 58mm. Longer rods and shorter pistons can be used with either stroke. -
me too... I use a mechanical temp gauge and made a "T" fitting to go in the rad hose. Then mounted the gauge on the front fender bolt in a cup. It works good.
-
Hey those look like mine... I just got a set of a-arms built by Sanddragon with the lower mounts moved out 1" to fit the 450 shocks. They fit and work awesome!!! The shock spring is close to the top a-arm but with a little adjusting they clear just fine. Thanks again Andy

Does anyone know if you can mix Engine Ice and Water Wetter??? And if you can would there be any benefit?? I am running Engine Ice now and it says to use it straight and not mix it with anything but I still get hot if I am riding with the wind.

I have a Magura hydrolic lever and it works awesome but they are pricey. It is way easier to pull plus it is really nice and smooth. You can also get an EZ Pull lever to reduce the stiffness of the clutch pull. The EZ Pull are alot cheaper but I think the hydrolic is worth the money.
