    Bow question

The biggest thing is how the bow feels to you. Go and try them. Chances are you will know right away which is the right one. I know the Assassin has received awesome reviews but both PSE and Bowtech make great bows and either would be excellent choices. Even though those are considered entry level, with the new technology today they are now out performing the top end bows of only a few years ago.
  3. 2008 Thor Tahoe 26FS. It is the type that shares the living and garage space with beds and a couch that fold up out of the way. The newer toy haulers are pretty awesome. This one is a 30 foot long bumper pull with a ton of room inside and fully loaded it is light enough to pull with a 1/2 ton truck.
  4. Depends on the size of the garage space in the toy hauler... I can fit both my XP and Banshee in my toy hauler and it is a bumper pull so I still have the back of the truck open for another quad or bikes if needed. Ours has 14' of garage so the Rzr goes in first with the Banshee sideways in behind it.
  5. I have a 900 Walker Evans and love it... I have friends with a 800s and a 800le and they really like thiers as well. I have another buddy who just put a deposit on a 570le so we will see what that is like shortly. The 900 has way more power and suspension than the 800s but unless you ride in the dunes lots there are not many other places it makes that big a difference. I am amazed at how well these things ride and handle and the shit they can go through.
  6. Those are some awesome bucks right there....

    Muzzleloader 8pt

Lookin' good I have never tried a muzzle loader... but there is no separate season for them here so I would only be able to use one during rifle season.
  10. It is common for the bearing in the idler gear to wear out. As long as the gear is OK you can just put a new bearing in it. Be sure to replace the snap ring when you reinstall it as well.
  11. Good luck man... especially if you are using traditional gear...
  12. It was not a pass through... Shot him from about 12 yards out of a 17' treestand but it was a little forward... entered in the top of his left shoulder, passed through his chest, clipping both lungs, and out the right side at his arm pit, through the bottom of his right shoulder and stopped at the hide. Found the broadhead and a couple inches of the shaft in his right shoulder. The broadhead made just a little poke in the hide but stopped without going through. If the shot was back behind the shoulder where it should have been it would have been a pass through but in the end it didn't matter. It still got the job done.
  13. Here ya go... day 3 of archery season and I have my first archery buck on the ground... he is also my first velvet buck. He isn't the biggest buck out there but I was happy to take him. Probably only about 125-130... haha not even sure how to measure them when they are in velvet still. I have never had a chance at a velvet buck before, but this year the season started earlier than usual so I couldn't wait to try for one. I saw him last night but he winded me and headed right back into the bush... I never got a shot. Then tonight I went to a different stand, farther down the same trail, and out he came... he walked right under me... I took the shot at about 10 yards. I though he was going to smell me again and take off, so I didn't hesitate. What a great night.... now for a moose... that opens next week.
  14. This is not me... just found it on Youtube... thought it was pretty amazing... this guy has balls of steel
  15. It's almost that time of year again Bow season starts here on Sept 1st this year.... yee haa... Here are some pics of last years weird ass white tail after I got it back from the taxi. He was only a 3x3 but still scored 135 1/8... never seen a 3x3 like that before

    Sky Diving!

Ya I did it a long time ago. I did 10 or 12 jumps and was up to a 10 second freefall... it was awesome. I should have stuck with it but none of my friends at the time were into it so I was going alone. I never had to do any tandems though... must be different regulations here. Although it was almost 20 years ago as well so I'm sure a lot has changed since then...

    First Bear

Those look like cool cameras... I have a couple old Moultries right now, they take pretty good pictures but I know they miss a lot, and they are really hard on batteries. I may have to look into some of those ones, just not sure about getting a cell plan. I was kinda planning on some Reconyx. I have heard lots of good things about them, except they are pricey. No unfortunately that is not my property, it was just out on crown land. We have permission on some farmland not too far out of the city where we hunt deer and moose but there is not many bears around there. We have been looking to buy some land of our own to hunt on but just haven't found the right one yet. Hopefully one day... it would be nice to have our own private spot. My wife and I have even been thinking of moving out to an acreage but we're not to sure about the commute to work every day.

    First Bear

You bet I love bow hunting, it's even more of a rush. This was my first attempt at a bear so I took the rifle, also it was a spot and stalk. I shot this guy at 170 yards. If I was over bait I would have used the bow. I am planning on moose hunting in the fall with the bow. It's nice here because the bow season is before the rifle season so you have some time to get the bow out early when there isn't many other hunters around. If it doesn't work out you can put it away and bring out the boom stick once rifle season opens.

    First Bear

Not sure what he weighed, we dressed him out in the bush, and since it was my first one I don't really have anything to compare to, but it was all the 2 of us could do to drag him 20 yards into a bit of a clearing. I dropped him off at the taxi. on Saturday...I am getting a half mount from just behind his shoulders. It will be made to look like he is walking out from the wall with one paw down and the other raised to see his claws. She had another one done like that on her wall while I was there and it looked pretty good.

I eat everything that I hunt. All meat comes from animals... as I am sure you know... I just choose to go out and hunt my own instead of going to a grocery store to buy it. Wild game meat is generally much healthier than store bought meat. There is no steroids or preservatives or growth hormones, the animals are not force fed in pens to make them fat, the meat is much leaner and has very little fat at all. Some people believe it is cruel or inhuman to hunt but I believe the opposite. I have seen the way animals are treated in some farms, they live a life of missery just to put food on our tables. Most people don't know just how badly farm animals are treated. If I were an animal I am sure I would rather live free in the wild until my day came. Hunting is also very exciting. I am a bit of an adrenalin junky, as I am sure most people on this site are, and hunting definitely fits the bill. It is also just nice to get out into the out doors and experience nature. On some of my best hunting adventures I have come home empty handed. I have had birds land right beside me while sitting in a tree stand, rabbits and squirrels so close I could reach out and tough them. I have seen all kinds of wildlife in their natural habitat, just going about their lives. It is hard to explain if you have never experienced it. I have been to many zoo's which try to recreate it but it is just not the same, in fact it is not even close. I also get the trophies mounted. Some people like art on their walls... I like animal mounts.

    First Bear

Went out for my first bear hunt on Friday... It was a great day, brought this bad boy home.
  22. My riding buddy has been mixing his in the drum for years. I was a bit leery about the oil separating after time so I still mix mine in the can but he hasn't had any issues.
  23. Did you adjust, or at least check the gap on the pick-up?? I put a new one on a few years ago and had a tick for a while.... turned out the magnet on the flywheel was hitting the pick-up. It still worked fine but it ended up cracking it before I found out what it was.
