Getting annoying with 28pwks,CPIs, Help please.
bigboybanshee replied to ToomeySheeLE's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
I agree...definitely bump the pilots up one size, maybe two since you need the choke and a little throtte to get it started. I would also bump the main up one size too for good measures. Better to be a little rich than too lean! -
Cam mod is retarding the exhaust cam by 1 tooth  A stock yfz450 can be run at an MX track like it is...the shocks are adjustable so you can adjust them for how you ride...I would play with what you have first before spending a large chunk of money on aftermarket upgrades. I've seen people take some SERIOUS jumps on a 450 right out of the box. After you ride it you'll know what you want to change, if anything. I would get some better tires and play with the shock settings before changing anything...ride it a few times, see where you need the improvement and start from there There is a lot of good info on www.yfzcentral.com

Had a great time Saturday, hopefully we'll get to do it again before the track closes at the end of the month. I was real impressed with your banshee, I'm hooked on that override!! I think if we dropped your gearing a bit more and strutted that rear end I bet I could get a 4.3 out of it. I'm just glad you decided to get back on the banshee again after your accident....I had a feeling all it would take is one good trip on it and you'd be back in the groove again. Next time you come down, we'll have to get out to the track about an hour earlier and we'll take some time tuning it and messing with it in the field. Be sure to thank your Dad / Michael for coming out and your wife for letting you go! What time did you make it home?

I'm not sure how much PSI is in my shock, I bought it used...but it's one stiff ass shock. Here are a few pics of how mine sat with a link style swinger with the marvin mounted no link style...to kind of give you an idea of what sort of angle you'd be putting on it. I personally didn't like how it rode, but someone else may have had a better experience. If you compare mine to big blue's, you can see his bottom shock mount sits at least 2, maybe 3 inches lower than mine. The more horizontal of an angle you put on the shock the less it's going to function properly, IMHO

That is correct, trust me, I tried it for shits and giggles on mine and it felt horrible. As soon as I launched the bike the back end went straight down. I took it off the next day and went back to my strut. If you're going to run a marvin shaw back there, definitely get one to fit with the linkage unless your swingarm is setup for a no link, I totally agree with wes and dajogejr

421 cub, fully ported, override, cut gears, and nitrous are the plans, hopefully the money will be there to finish it :baseball_bat: Your banshee was amazing, it had a lot to do with why I went with the silver/chrome theme

Yeah, I got quite a bit from you. Probably wouldn't have been able to get it all done if it hadn't been for the good deals you were letting go Axle/carrier/hubs/brake rotor, wheels/tires, carbs/filters, both side covers and lockout clutch, and then there's the stuff I got that wasn't on that bike....cylinders, pipes, swingarms, some electronics I still wish I would have snagged that coffin tucked seat Thanks for the compliments, joshtruction  It will look different again after this winter, and should be quite a bit faster for the next race season :ninja:

Here are a few more detailed pics courtesy of BenBB's Jetting FAQ  And a link to his FAQ...definitely read this if you're new to jetting http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/jetfaq.html

conflict between ex girlfriend and banshee
bigboybanshee replied to bansheeseat$$'s topic in General Banshee Discussion
Took the words right out of my mouth! No matter what you could do to change the banshee from how it sits now, you'd still know where it came from.... I hope all works out for you, I know times like these aren't easy  -
Happy Birthday!!!! I knew there was a reason I got so drunk yesterday :baseball_wacko:

I keep going lean

Try a 27.5 pilot jet -
Why are you drilling them out? Why not just go to the shop and pick up the correct jets? I would try a 27.5 pilot jet...

Banshee starts and runs just dies when it gets gas
bigboybanshee replied to DreamShee03's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
TORS could very well be the issue...here's Chase's thread  http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...mp;#entry557013 I know this sounds simple and stupid, but make sure the air filter is clean. If it's dirty and clogged, as soon as you nail the gas it won't have enough air to breathe, and kills the engine. Just trying to help you rule out what it CAN'T be, LOL -
Welcome to the forums!!!

As far as the airbox goes, not sure what you could do to help that, especially since you're running the lid...you may have to clean the filter/carbs each time you run the track...maybe you could try sticking the snorkel back on, and cut 1.5 inches off the back of the airbox lid to keep the dirt from flying straight in there through the front  A 2 into 1 carb would be a great choice for better throttle response, and the cool head would be excellent to bump up the compression which would help out on the low end. I highly recommend you choose a NOSS head when you get one, dlnoss is an excellent seller, great product, great service. He can help you choose a dome size that would be best for your application. For the arm fatigue, I've heard of people cutting a coil off of each spring in the carbs which will relieve some tension, but if you plan to get a 2 into 1 carb setup, that alone will help out by only having to lift one carb slide, opposed to two. Also could try doing some workouts that will strengthen the muscles in your hand. Those little thingamajigs that you squeeze with your hand would be a good start. LOL, sorry I can't remember what they're called 280's sound about right for your elevation and mods, if it runs strong, I wouldn't mess with it
-
around 120 like chase said, but if there is more than 10 psi difference between the 2 cylinders, it's time for a rebuild/new rings
-
When you said you changed the jets after the head, did you have your head shaved or did you replace it with a cool head, etc.? If you had your head shaved, that could be why your bike is running hotter.

I've always used a rubber mallet or put a small 2x4 over the end and gently beat it out with a hammer. Using a hammer directly on the threads can cause them to mushroom out...been there, done that!

I haven't noticed any "bouncing" at all...I've never stood it up any further than the first 60' so I can't tell you from experience how it would act if you popped a wheelie at half track.
