  1. A local builder is doing mine. 4 mil Hot rod crank...
  2. Try spraying some WD40 around the intakes while running. If it revs up, then you have an air leak...
  3. Sounds perfect for stock heads....
  4. I ran a set of 34's on my setup and lost 8hp across the whole curve.....They were terrible, I spent countless hours trying to dial them in, bought different needles, pilots, and mains and still couldn't get it right....got rid of them and cost me a lot of money....But that was w/ my setup...every shee is different, thats what makes finding the right carb sooo hard......
  5. uummm.....The k&N is great for all around, get the prodesign adaptor plate w/ K&N and outerware.....I've heard the K&N isn't that great for the fine sand in the desert, but I wouldn't know since I don't ride desert, but I do ride everything else and love my K&N. I never have any sand in my carbs when I pull them off...
  6. You should be very close for that elevation. Best way to tell is to run it wide open in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds, shut it down, coast to a stop and pull the plugs...black is rich, brown is perfect, white or tan is lean.....You can run it w/o the lid, but I don't think you'll get much gain w/ stock exhaust but will notice huge gains w/ pipes....
  7. I'd go w/ 330 mains for winter and 300-310 for summer, 25-27.5 pilots, needle in the middle...
  8. Mains are too small...my shee did the same thing after my air box mod....Ran mint until I held wot for a couple of seconds, then it was like someone hit the kill switch....Kinda of confused me at first and the only thing I did was cut the air box lid...so I upped my mains 2 sizes and problem solved.....Also when I ran 34's, I had a 165 main, you might want to go up a few sizes anyways...My Pt's also needed a larger main compared to my PC pipes......
  9. 190's are small....even for stock pipes...I used to run 210's for stock pipe and stock filter...240 w/ K&N. Now I'm running 300's w/ a midrange pipe and K&N w/ air box mods.....
  10. I love them...Great pipes for all around. Great midrange to top end pipe...
  11. What are you scared of???? You won't know unless you try it, it won't hurt anything, but could help you out a lot......
  12. Well, your showing pwk carbs in your sig.....Keihin carbs have a different jet size than Mikunis....Which carbs are you running???
  13. Go up on the mains and adjust the air screws for throtte response...most likely the low end is whats rich or lean, not the mains...
  14. Sounds like the jetting or a pilot might be clogged...Clean the carbs w/ an air compressor thoroughly and make sure the air screws are the same...
  15. I wouldn't run a large carb unless you have some drastic porting....Don't have any experience w/ single carbs....
  16. Can't help you if you don't tell us your mods, jetting, any changes to it?? Any antifreeze in the radiator? Water pump working? Compression?? We need all this...
  17. The needles only control 1/4-3/4 throttle....If you have a bog from 1/2-wot then the air/fuel mixture is different between the needles and mains....I'd leave the needle position for now, dial in the mains w/a wot run in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds and check the plugs...Dial in the pilots and air screws, then the needles....A richer pilot will affect the needles and mains since they are working all the time regardless of throttle position.....
  18. Carbs are most likely out of sync......I've seen really old plugs do it also.
  19. I wouldn't recommend that, it might clean the oil out also which lubricates the pistons and lower end bearings.........
  20. Your too lean on the air screws.....Try .5 turn out from seated.....Lean will make it hesitate, if the air screws improve a lot, then try a 27.5 pilot. My friends shee didn't like the 27.5, but yours might....leave the needle position..
  21. Hey Brandon, start w/ 165 mains w/ the air box and no lid, middle clip position, 48 pilots....to start...
  22. I'm putting a 4 mil stroker w/ long rod in mine w/ low end porting...Should have it this week..I agree w/ porting and pipe matching....Can't expect a midrange pipe to go w/ drag porting.....
  23. I'm busiest between May and June, so anytime after or before.....So I'd say July or September since August will be too hot...
  24. 280-290 mains, needle is 4th clip from the top, stock pilots and adjust the air screws to throttle response...
  25. They emphasize all around...any pipe is noticeable a HUGE improvement over stock on top, but the Pt mids pull harder on bottom as well as on top..
