  1. stock head or aftermarket head? sounds like an issue with that side. how far was the motor torn apart?

  3. my clutches have always rattled until i pull the clutch in. i think especially with aftermarket clutches where you take the stock cushions out they have a tendency to rattle. and i agree about no loctite. the springs keep constant pressure on those bolts. theyre not going anywhere. dave, i dont think the basket will even turn without that washer behind it will it?
  4. if you ever depend on your reserve it might not be a good idea for you. flow is good but you get it at the cost of the reserve.

  6. no, the extremes use springs on the actual gear shafts instead of in between the shift forks. my tranny seemed to be doing that exact thing. it would make a full revolution almost and then bind up. i figured out that my gear shaft was bent. i replaced it with another one and it solved the problem. i rode my 2-4 duneable for 4 years with no issues. upshifting and downshifting with or without the clutch. never had a problem.

  8. ive got NO experience with the fox shocks, but here is what i can tell you. a guy in minnesota a few years back ran them for a season. he is a good rider and had a decent setup. the next year he comes back with elkas all the way around and goes faster. to me, his bike seemed smoother on the hill and that can make a world of difference especially on a shitty hill. just my observations as i have no hands on experience with them. i know that he liked the elkas much better.

  10. thats the thing Denny, everyone wants me to be a judge. i get PM's from both sides with all these points and they all think they are right. hell, i dont wanna be a judge to that shit! like i said, in the couple extreme cases i checked into it myself and when the members didnt even answer me some simple questions, i took that as an admission of guilt and banned them.

  13. ive heard nothing but bad shit about that dude from WCR. all i know is that if i had a bad tranny from him, i would expect same day turnaround, not fucking 3 weeks. the guy warranties them and then fucks them off for almost a month? not cool.

  15. you might be surprised how much better it will hook and handle with better suspension. its not all just about jumping. with the right rear end especially on a drag setup, the bike will launch harder and get more power to the wheels. to be honest, i would save up some money for some elkas or something comparable. you can always sell the works later. in my opinion, elka is second to none as far as shock quality and ride goes. plus, the guys at elka are super easy to deal with. keep an eye out for some used elkas. it doesnt take much to get them set up for your weight, riding style and arm length.
  16. i agree with jbooker and meat.. i really dont like top use rule #8 and i put it there to try to deter people from selling junk. i really only like to use rule #8 in severe situations such as one where a motor was disclosed as a certain stroke and then come to find out, its not what the seller said it was. ignorance of the item youre selling is no excuse. if i spend money to buy a 4mm motor, it damn well better be a 4mm motor. another scenario would be sending money and never receiving an item. thats uncalled for and a blatant scam. HQ doesnt need those types of people running around. other than those situations, rule #8 is not exercised. i think there have been two people banned in the last year due to extreme circumstances and in both cases i tried contacting the members myself through PM and e-mail with no response and both people had been online many times while i was trying to contact them. in this specific case, i think both parties are at fault. more information should have been disclosed and more pictures should have been asked for.

  22. i agree. i dont think it was luck at all. i rode on my old stocker with the eibach spring for over 4 years and i know for a fact that if it were on there, i would have eaten shit. part of the reason i was like "oh shit" is because i had forgot about the elka on the back considering it was really my first ride with the new setup. i dont think luck has anything to do with it because as the day went on and i got more comfortable on the bike, i got faster and faster. it just works that good. i do agree that suspension is every bit as important or even more so than motor when it comes to going fast. if you cant put the power down, its useless.
  23. stay away from the 450 front end. it belongs on the yfz450. just buy banshee based parts and you will be much happier.
  24. i want to have a spare tranny cut to keep in hand in case something ever goes south with mine. i need the two complete gear clusters on their shafts, a shift drum and the two rods that the shift forks ride on. i dont need shift forks as ill buy new ones.
