DO NOT Deal with Sprocket Specialists
locogato11283 replied to locogato11283's topic in General Banshee Discussion
ive always had o-ring chains. the 530 i have no is also o-ring. i highly recommend the D.I.D chains and primary drive sprockets. they held up very well for me. -
not a terrible day. ran pretty consistently. second run was better than first, but couldve been better than that. pulled the front end off the 3rd jump. still cant figure out what caused it. stephen put a spankin on me and ran a 6.9 second run. i couldnt top it with my 7.1.. but, heres my video. oh yea, i need more gear. the 19/40 is too low.

you should be able to find 520 chain that is just as strong if not stronger than any 530 chain. part of the reason i went with 530 was to be able to run the wider sprocket on my big motor. i have crumbled 520 sprockets with my 10mm cub so i can imagine what my DM would do to them. i have no personal experience with sidewinder, but have read some good and some bad reviews on them. personally, i ran primary drive stuff for years with d.i.d chain and never had an issue. -
Damn!!!! I was expecting to see the video! You need to have someone with a digital film that stuff! It can be helpful when trying to identify mistakes or spots where you could go faster..
-
hell yea guys! thats what i like to see!
-
before you have it PCed, you should grind of all the excess material and clean it up. youd be amazed at how much extra stuff there is on the rear caliper...
-
try them before you send them off. they might work better than you think. also, you may only need a little stiffer spring instead of the re-valving.
-
i kind of figured that much. all i know is that id rather bend a $30 shift fork than trash a shift drum that would have to be re-cut or trash gears that would have to be re-cut.
-
thats why yfz450 shocks belong on a yfz450 and honda shocks belong on a honda. youre totally changing the geometry of the banshee front end by running the 450 setup and its never going to be as effective as banshee arms with properly set up banshee shocks.

yea, id hate for anyone who doesnt own a large atv website to have a bad dealing with them. i am confident that the customer would get screwed with no reach around. hes a fan boy. fan boys always try to justify actions because of their love for the company, person etc.. even though the facts are there and its inexcusable. yea, and i can bet that if any sponsor on HQ had a bad dealing in some way, they would go out of their way to fix it. the guy is just butt hurt i called out his precious Sprocket Specialists. yea, thats the thing. they act like this is my fault. like they didnt make a special call to make sure the chain would clear. PBI was recommended to me by someone on ATVDR. i will be giving them a call. -
id have a billet tranny if they werent so damn expensive. i also heard that robinson is not so great to deal with? also, if you go to the billet shift forks and take out the weak link, whats the next thing to break?
-
i agree that the NOSS head is a better way to go. you can PM David Noss directly here on HQ. his screen name is "dlnoss"

plug check is for checking the jetting. i dont see the point of doing them. ive been riding banshees for 10 years and have never once done one. i will do wide open throttle plug checks and thats it. by doing the plug chop you waste a set of spark plugs.

DO NOT Deal with Sprocket Specialists

Yep. And keyboard racers buy sprockets too. You call it drama. I call it letting potential customers of a company know that they have shitty customer service and will shit on the little guy when they can. Like I said before, if it weren't for the fact I own this site, I am 100% positive that she would've told me to fuck off and that would've been the end of it. -
go with the +2/+1 arms and properly set up shocks for them.

Hiding behind a keyboard? EVERYONE here knows who I am. Get real fool. I don't care if they will or won't. But for all the individual guys out there looking for sprockets, I urge them to go elsewhere. I don't know who you talk to but she is the manager there. I talked to her and another lady that was very nice. So you're not a Dee Dee fanboy, but you are a Sprocket Specialists fanboy. Makes sense. -

One racer? Man, you're really not very smart huh? In case you hadn't noticed this thread has nearly 250 views. The thread on ATVDR has over 100. People talk. Just because you're a fanboy of Dee Dee and Sprocket Specialists doesn't mean you should kid yourself about the reality of this issue. If you think they will only lose business from "one racer" you're either extremely naive or very stupid. My vote is for both. -

No way I am modding my freshly powdercoated sprocket hub. That's not the issue anyway. I know it can be modded but I am not going to do that. I was told it would work and it won't. Still not my fault and I am eating $30 and two weeks of my time over this crap. Sprocket Specialists has shit for customer service and I will never buy from them again. At the rate this thread is getting views, I hope that it will put a dent in their profits. I have a hillclimb this weekend where there will be 1000 spectators and 200 riders. You can bet that I will be putting the word out to all of them too. -

Before anyone starts in with, "that's not the right kind of chain nonsense," I thought I'd go ahead and measure the widest part of the inside link on my 530 chain and my old D.I.D. ATV chains. D.I.D. 520 = .585" RK 530 = .583" I just wanted to put that to rest before anyone tries to bring it up. -

Here is the update: I talked to Dee Dee again today, who was very short and very rude with me. I stated again that this was not my problem and that we bought the sprockets based on the information she gave us. She said that my dad was confused and asked if the Banshee sprockets would fit on a Banshee hub, which makes no sense whatsoever. He absolutely did not ask her that as I was standing right there when he was on the phone with her. I told her that she was specifically asked whether or not the chain would hit the hub and she states that she does not remember being asked that. Of course she doesn't and it sure doesn't make any sense for her to make a call to find out of a Banshee sprocket will fit on a Banshee hub either. She told me that she would refund me for the full price of the sprockets but not the $14 shipping that we paid originally. She also said that she would not pay for return shipping and that she will be closing out my account when she gets them back. I said well you might as well because I will never do business with you again. Then she goes on to tell me that she will get them back in and turn right around and sell them. I was like, yea I am sure you will and that's part of the reason I am not eating a 30% restocking fee. So I guess I will be sending the sprockets back. For good measure I took some pictures of the chain on the sprockets on the stock Banshee hub.. 39 tooth. It's hard to see, but the inside link hits on some of the arms. Not all, but hitting on one even is more than enough reason for me to not run them. 38 tooth. Notice how the chain is hitting so bad it won't even continue on around the sprocket. -

No it does not work fine. The chain hits the hub arms. I tested it on both the 38 and 39 yesterday and both hit. The 38 hit every arm and the 39 would hit a few depending on how the link sits on the sprocket above the arm. I am not using a 40mm billet axle. I am using a stock Banshee hub with a LSR stock size axle. She was told exactly the setup as I was standing there listening to the whole conversation. It's not like it's a complicated question anyway. She was asked if the chain would hit the hub using a 38 or 39 tooth sprocket. Pretty simple. She made a phone call and called back stating that the chain would not hit the hub. I can take pictures of it if need be but what she told me would work and what she sent me will not. Still not my problem and they should refund my money 100%. -
yep thats what i use. cheap 99 cent flat black spray paint from lowes. works better than anything ive ever tried.
