Just cleaned carbs. No gas getting to Engine
Yaxy replied to sg30721's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If your bike has been sitting for 4 years and there was gas in the carbs then they are probably plugged with green/white powder. If this is the case youy may find it very difficult to clean the pilot jet since the whole is so small. You can try it but it will probably be easier to buy new pilot jets. I would also dissamble yourc arbs, strip them down and clean them completely. You may also want to put a bit of gas in the cyulinders through the spark plug holes. This sometimes will help draw fuel out of the carb once the motro fires up. Chris -
Thanks Ron, I kind of figured that. Has anyone else had experience with this question? Chris

I purchased friction plated from Vesrah and steel plates from Barnett for the RZ. I know on the complete Barnett kits you do not run the cushions, but do you need to run them on the Vesrah's. Also, what are the cushions supposed to do? reduce noise or something? Thanks Chris

Small Sputter at Low RPM Right When I Pin It...
Yaxy replied to Stinger's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
If you have not cleaned your carb in a while, I would start there since the problem does not seem to be a recurring issue. Make sure all jets are removed and cleaned preferrably with an air compressor. Install, Sync carb cables and then your idle and see what happens. If still prominent then drop your needle one position. Chris -
Small Sputter at Low RPM Right When I Pin It...

When you say a sputter/bog what do you actually mean? I like to think of a sputter as a rich condition. A bog is more of a lean mixture problem. If a sputter I would say riase your needle one position. If a bog I would say turn in air screws all the way. If better you may have a dirty pilot jet. Chris -
Thanks guys, i will remove the silicone with some Brake cleaner and proceed. Chris

Guys, I assembled the bottom half of the RZ a few days ago and torqued all the nuts and bolts to factory specs. This afternoon I decided that I need to split the cases and check one more thing. Can the crank seals be re-assembled or is there some form of squish factor that is no longer present since they were already installed once? The seals have 0 run time on them. Thanks Chris

What are your plans for your build, Stroker? Cubs? Porting, Suspension? etc.. Chris

I had Patriot port my RZ cylinders this summer and the cylinders look professionally done. I am anxious to try the motor out but it won't be until November this year if my Rockets come in. Once complete and running I am planning to provide a ride report next srping. PS: Dan has extensive knowledge with the RZ motor. Chris

Wobble extensions are good, You can also buy a "Crowsfoot" from Sears. I has to buy one for the innew nuts on the EZ but haven't had a chance to use it. But I amassuming I will use both the above to torque the nuts down. Chris

haha, that was good. Chris

I have LSR's and I like them. From what I have seen there are two versions LSR offers. 1) Fully adjustable Camber 2) Not fully adjustable Camber There should be a couple hundred buck between the two. Chris

The Royal Mountain Hill climbs are awesome. I live about an hour away and been going for the last 10 years or so. Some of the bikes and quads are awesome. It only cost $10.00 to get in, you can bring your own beer (cans) and there are alot of chicks. Hiopefully it is a rainy day. iIlove it when the bikes go flying into the wood. Plus the red necks are historical!! Chris

What pipe brands will fit RZ conversion?
Yaxy replied to Quinlan's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
What kind of problems are you having with the rockets? My RZ was just ported to run Rockets but with all this termoil going on with Rockets I can wait. Either way I also hear that the PTR's will work fine. Other than that I guess you have to dent the other brands of pipes. Chris -
I purchased a set of cases for my RZ and I want to powder coat the top case black. Has anyone powder coated their cases and is a high heat powder required? Thanks Chris

Thanks Joe, Hoping to see those cases soon. Chris

I would say use the 28 Mikuni's, I run a 20 pilot and a 270 main and I fee they are very good on gas. Plus you can get the 28 plus the cable for about 225 New if you shop around. Chris

Typically there is a transistion of fuel between the pilot circuit and the Needle Jet/Needle. Through my experiences a bog off throttle response is caused by not having the carbs in sync or to lean of a pilot jet. My recommendation is to go to 35 pilot, leave the needle where it is, turn out your air screws 1.5 turns. If better in comparison with the 30's then you are on the right track. If bog is still there then turn in air screws all the way. I highly doubt you would need a pilot bigger than a 35. After this I would try richening the needle clip one position. Chris

Here is what my Mikuni manual says, dated 2004 Pilot - 60 Main -200 Needled Jet - N-8 (169) Jet Needle - 5F21 Assuming the above What I would do is start with 30 pilot and 290 ,main. Sync carbs slides based on cables and then do the idle screws. (IMPORTANT) Set air screw on side of carb at 1.5 turns out. Ride shee, put around crack throttle, If still hestiant than turn in pilot all the way. If problem persists but is much better you need to go to the next larger size pilot and try the above again. If you think pilot of 30 is rich you need to start playing with the needle clip position and then possible you may need to swith needles. Personally I think 30 will be the ticket and not much larger unless you are not running the air box or have any kind of wild porting. Chris

If I am not mistaking VM28 is a round slide carb. If so, 60 is way to big, You should be in the 30 range. I have a Mikuni brochure at home that gives me all the sizes and all the factory components and part numbers. If you would like I can check for you. Either way 60 and 290 seem way to large for factory settings. Chris

I have the Golds series Mid/Tourques on my 89 and wondered the same thing. I called FMF and they told me that mine are the same as today's fatties. Those old school silencers sound awesome!! Chris

I have the same exact set up as you but have mx porting and I run the AirBox. I run 20 pilots and have used 15's and have great throttle response. Since you do not run a airbox I would say 30 would be about right. Chris
