All, I am in the process of getting all the little things ironed out for the RZ transplant. The biggest problem I have is trying to find this sleeve that slides over the inlet spigot on the 28 FS carb. I purchased these sleeves about 10 years ago from White Brothers and now they no longer carry them. Does anyone know where I can find them? Thanks Chris Oh ya, This is my first digital camara so if I screwed up, sorry.

Are the cylinders: 1) Stock bore? 2) Ported? Thanks Chris

Milling the head works. After milled do a squish test. Had my RZ head cut .030 and still had almost .050 worth of clearance. Had to take head off last week and send it back to get it re-milled. For porting, the intakes on my RZ non ported and ported are similiar. Depending on what kind of power spread you are looking for determines how much or if at all the exhaust port is opened. From what I have read Rz stock v shee stock the exhuast port on the RZ is 3mm higher. As far as timing goes I recall that you had to modify the existing stator on I think the 1984 model. For the 1985 models you could go aftermarket stator. I think??????, Don't hold me to that. For more info on the RZ do a search under my name. I asked this question and many others related to the RZ that may be able to help you. All questions were in 2005. Chris

If you can get an RZ motor do it. I finally got my RZ motor in my banshee this fall and even with the limited time I had riding it you could feel a difference in low end comparing my current banshee which has the same set up as the RZ using the same pipes. If you ned help with electronics and how to mount the CDI, Rectifier, Servo etc, let me know. I had it pretty efficiently, clean looking and professional mounted on the shee. I do not have the RZ in the frame at this time but will have it mounted in June when the SE comes in. can't wait! Chris

What is the best kind of 28MM carb out there!
Yaxy replied to r2n2d's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I have used 28 FS Mikuni's on my shee for the past 10 years. They are a great all around carb. I bought a new set for the RZ last fall and my total cost was $180.00 for 2 carbs. Chris -

Looks Good, For reference or ideas try NYRiders.com. Very similiar to your idea Chris -
As some of you may know the inlet flange on the Mikuni 28 FS Carb has a smaller OD dimension than the stock 26's. Back in the mid 90's I purchased a tube spacer/collar that presses over the inlet flange making the flange OD larger. I thought I purchased the collar from White Brothers but they do not sell it anymore. Does anyone know who where I can possibly find this collar? From my experience the intake boot will rip without this spacer. Thanks Chris

I know this is going against what most on the HQ will say but I had my first experience this weekend dragging shees and 450's with my FMF's I went to the annual drags in Boonville NY, 500' grass track and there were about 20 shees mostly with Toomey and a few with CPI's. My bike as I consider is very timid for a shee, a MX port, cool head with 21 cc domes, pump gas, V-force, FMF Gold series and 28 FS mikuni's. Ran 8 times with at least one to two shees running along side. The 6 times I got out of the hole straight I beat every one to my suprise. Ya you could argue it is rider skill, traction and consider other variables but after the first 40 feet they were looking at my tail light. Now Most had different heads and I am sure other things but these were all guys in there 20's and 30's running and did not appear to be newbies in the she world. However there was one guy that I did not get a chance to run that ran CPI's that would of smoked me but It looked like the shee had aftermarket cylinder on her. I have had the shee for 15 years and always wonder how my old school FMF's would do against other brands, Granted it was only 500 ft but the FMF seem to be a real get up and go pipe with very good low to mid to get me to that 500 ' mark first, and yestrerday that was all that mattered. As for the 450s' this was the first time I ran against them, The Hondas' were behind right from the time the tree turned green, I was not impressed at all. Piped 450's Yamies stayed with me for about 300 ft and then fell 2 to 3 quads behind at the 500 ' mark. Next year I will bring up the RZ and see how shee runs Chris

What type of riding do you do? In my opinion if you are doing a variety of riding stick with 28's or 30's I have 28FS Mikuni's on my current she and they work really well, and still good on gas. Plus Miluni's are cheaper then Keihn's I just bought a new pairs of Mik 28 FS for my RZ and the total cost was $180.00 Chris

This topic has come up in the past and I have found very few individauls that have figured out a simple way to hook up a kill switch using the RZ components. After several searches that gave fuzzy answers I reviewed the RZ manual and discovered it is very simple. Hook up:. Assuming you are using a Banshee key switch hook the black wire from the key switch to one of the post on the ignition coil. (The other post has a orange wire going to the CDI) You then take your black /white wire that also runs off your key swith and connect it to ground. That simple, Varified results tonight!! Ready to get her fired up next month. Thanks for listening. Chris

Bombardier has been putting SDI technology into there 2-stroke sleds since 2003. SDI technology is available in their 600 and 800 models and are great motors. Bomber also puts the same technology into their (Evinrude) boat motors. Simple and light weight, plus alot of power, that is what it's about. Chris

Common guys! One of you genius's out there has to know the answer to this question. Chris

Guys, Time is coming near to put the RZ in the shee and test her out. I would like to purchase the OEM bullet connectors to complete the harness but to date I can't find who the OEM is. I thought it was Deutch but that is not the case. Does anyone know who manufacturers the OEM bullet and Female connectors? Thanks Chris
-
Your logic sounds correct. To lean of a pilot creates a fast idle and typically poor throttle response. To rich of a pilot and you foul plugs. Set your air screw to the recommended two turns out. Get the bike up to normal operatign temperature put the bike in 1st or 2nd chug it and lay on the gas. If it bogs turn in your air screws until bog goes away. If you find out that it is better when the air screws are turned in all the way then you need to go to a larger pilot. Also the 2 turns out is a rule of thumb. I run mine at 1/2 to 1 turn out and no problems. Chris

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you that they are much metter quality and since I am trying to button up the RZ wiring I want the connections to be durable. I will try doing a search under MSD ignitions and summit to see what they have. I was hoping that some of the business on the site would jump in and say I have some I will sell ya. I only need about 12, anyone!! Thanks CHris

Does anyone on the board sell Deutsch connectors? I would prefer to use these waterproof bullet connectors ratther than the conventional connector. I can purchsae some from a distributors but they have a min order value of $50.00 Thanks Chris

If you really want to save yourself one order one from a dealer. From what my local dealer tells me is that he puts his spring order in in late November early December for 2006 deliveries. It is sort of a wish list in which he completes an order sheet specifying model and what month you want it. What is really nice is that Yamaha sometimes has a 0,0,0 deal. No interest, no payments, for 6 months at the time of pick up. Chris
