Only draw back to running it as is is that you won't be getting maximum potential from the added displacement. My son's runs good enough ,it doesn't even have pipes on it. You didn't say why you tore it down in the first place. Also ,what other mods do you have?
The one problem I see with that E-Gay ad is where it says no returns (?) . You ONLY get EXACTLY what you pay for. What I'd like is a BIG bore with something a little less than drag porting.
That's too funny !!! Exact same thing happened to me. Had to pull my son's 'shee apart after he drowned it in a mud hole. His has a 2mm solid copper head gasket. X-2 on the porting, piston will be 2mm below transfers at BDC , plus transfers will open late ,kinda like the difference between an enduro and a mx bike. upper would not raise 2mm because it has to do with degree of crank rotation. Do to lack of $$ , it will get porting and either mod stock head or cool head next time.
From what I've seen on here ign coils rarely go bad. The plug boots do go bad tho. I think for secondary coil test you have to use both plug wires. Stators do go bad especially if it's a Ricky or RS. Double check your tes procedure on the stator. On my son's shee I had to clean the poles on the stator ,inside of flywheel, and pick-up lugs on outside and gap P.U. coil.
I have known Mike for over 10 yrs. Customer service is top notch. Altho I can't comment on how his porting works , I have seen several examples over the yrs and he does smooth work . He does all his own machine work in house.
Whatever you do don't pry at the mating surface. It's not silicon , it's Yamabond ,threebond or simular, silicon is a no-no . Double check that ALL bolts and nuts are off , brg retainer on clutch side ,stator is off. Try holding by mount and smak clutchshaft and output. They can be a PIA , just keep at it. Seems to me ther was one spot I pried and smaked at same time. Your results may vary ,jmo.
X-2 on carb clean. Do them one at a time ,record jet numbers while your in there. Don't forget choke crossover tube on re-assembly. Pull plugs to be sure theyre good. Try the plug wire swap, it will tell you if your plug cap is bad ,they have a resistor in there that goes bad. The coils themselves rarely go bad. Post back with what you find. Don't ride the way it is now ,you will damage it. BTW, Welcome to BHQ !!
Time is money , so I wouldn't expct much for that price. I would want to talk to some that have had 'Shee porting done by them. Or even ride the bike. All the parts have to work in harmony for max power.
On my son's shee I had to pull flwheel and clean poles on stator (little rust) inside of f-wheel , pick-up nubs on outside of f-wheel ,gap p-up coil .016-.018 . BTW , welcome !!
Speed is only limited by cubic dollars. That being said port your stock cages , get some good reeds ,either low-mid or mid-high depending on type of riding. Could also mod timing plate for about +4* advance. What pipes you running?
20 ft-lbs both cyl nuts and head. cyl in criss-cross patern , head pattern is on head. Do both in stages ,10 ,15 , 20. re-torque head after couple heat cycles ,warm it up comepletly, cool down completely ,repeat , then re-torque.
Welcome to BHQ !! Did it just start doing this? Or did you buy from someone at lower elevation? Start by checking plugs ,cleaning carbs one at a time. Your description is a little (lot) vauge. Could you be more specific? If you do carbs , record jet sizes and post that up.
X-2 on waterproofing and outerwares. From your description doesn't sound electrical , tho it could be . Might try di-electric grease on conections and plug caps. There were Banshees before 4x4 quads, which are for PUSSIES and old farts. Also wether 2 or 4 stroke you have to prep your machine for wet/muddy conditions. Been riding 2 smoke dirt bikes long befor 4 pokes were even thought of as viable off road bikes and had no problems. It slays me those that are afraid of a little (or lot) of mud or water. Obviously 510's favorite trail has a water crossing.
