  1. Yup, AFAIK all years used the same flywheel. The stators are the same too just the electrical connectors changed a few times.
  2. Well I bit the bullet and took my stocker apart so I can drop a new billet basket on my gear. Here's what I found: The cushions are in perfect shape and as other vids on YouTube show the drive cushion is smaller than the opposite one hence the play. Every bike with a stocker that I've worked on had the same play as my original gif but I never opened one up before to see what was going on. I doubt it was close to failure. Other members have had the same experience here as well based on the search. For reference the shee is mostly stock motor wise and has a couple hundred hours total on the motor. It's an '01 so I will say it is certainly peace of mind to see what going on and have new cushions and a billet basket even though it probably wasn't 100% needed. I'm going to do the pancake bearing and shift star while I'm in here too. I was going to fix up the shee good enough to sell her but now I don't think I can part with her. I've been wrenching and riding this one for 15 years now so I think we're attached at the hip. Are there any members here still doing the shift star mod? If so I'd like to send it out.
  3. Yes, all washers are in place. I saw some folks in older threads using emery cloth so I'll give that a shot. I didn't want to try to remove my old gear and everything because I don't have access to a drill press.
  4. Yes it is, thanks. I noticed the spacer is extremely tight in the brass race of the new clutch basket. My old one slides in and out easily so I'm sure that's my issue. The brass race looks to be in good shape though with no obvious defects. It's just very tight. I can put my spacer in my old clutch basket by hand very easily. I have to hit the new one in with a rubber mallet.
  5. Got the billet basket and went to assemble everything tonight but just want to make sure I'm doing this 100% because it's a little different than I've seen before. Should the clutch boss and basket be able to spin free of each other when there are no clutch plates in? I seem to remember every other banshee having the boss and housing spin free but this setup does not. I did notice that the spacer that goes inside the brass race in the basket was hard as hell to get in whereas my prior one slid in and out easy. I'm thinking maybe it was just worn down. After I tighten the clutch nut to 90 NM the basket and housing act as one unit. Even if I put the bike in neutral it's still trying to turn the motor over when I push it. I'm certain all of the parts went back in in the correct order.
  6. Got any info? I live in Burlington County.
  7. Sold! I can't send you a PM though, it says you're not able to receive messages. I think I need a T Shirt and some stickers too so lemme know your PayPal and I'll get ya over payment. Thanks!!
  8. Wow, thanks broseph! Let me take a look when I get home tonight and see a little more on what I'm working with and I'll send ya a PM. Also, I see from a number of old posts no one is running the cushion rings between the clutch plates. Still true today?
  9. Did you go the drill press route or did you take an angle grinder to them?
  10. You can take an MOV on your iphone and convert it to a free GIF online. Then post it up to imgur and use the [IMG ] tags like a regular image. Rookie mistake. I should have read some more searched threads. There seems to be a 50 - 50 split in old threads between some play and no play. Some folks say no play. Others say 1/4" is ok. There are even some reports saying that Hinson baskets have 1/4" play in them after only a few hours. I thought some play was normal and it seems like most of the shees I've worked on have play in them but I've only ever worked on stock baskets. This shee doesn't have a ton of hours on it but the basket is original from 2001. Maybe 150 from the original owner and 20 from me. I'll probably end up changing it out, the $160 for a basket doesn't bother me but those rivets look like they'll be a *&$%! to grind off!
  11. The grooves look worse in the pics than they are. They clutch action is still smooth and I can barely feel them. I've worked on bikes that have had way worse so I'm not too worried about them. It's been a while since I parted a bike out but I remember all stock baskets having this play in them. Can't remember 100% though. Normally I wouldn't be opposed to doing some upgrades but I'll never ride this shee again. I've moved on to other hobbies. EDIT: Should have searched. Seems some play is normal.
  12. Thanks, I think I've been riding it like this for a while and everything else looks tight. How about the cushion ring? Clymer's shows a rubber ring behind the first friction plate up against the basket. I don;t ever remember installing one of those before and I don't have one now. Its been a while...... lol.
  13. I know I'm a little late but I ran 28mm PWKs for 1 year back in 2012. They are supposed to be great on woods bikes but I could never get them dialed in right and there was almost no jetting support for them. I went back to stockers and have run them ever since There are more jetting guides than you can shake a stick at.
  14. Withdrawn. Everything is all fixed up. Changing the clutch today just because. I'll likely post on flea bay and Craigslist. If you see it there lemme know you're from the HQ and I'll give you the BHQ discount. You guys were incredibly good to me all these years!
  15. I'll prob be hanging onto my Banshee so I decided to freshen up the clutch today. I noticed that there is play between the basket and gear as seen in the vid? Is this normal? It's been so long since I pulled one of these part I can't remember. The basket and pressure plate looks amazing otherwise and the bike has very few hours on it so I'm guessing so but I don't remember my other bikes having play like this.
