  1. Might just have a bad ring. I would have the cylinders and pistons checked closely for clearances and out of round. Cyls need to be checked top, middle, bottom, front to back, side to side = six places. IF you are well within tolerances could just do rings.
  2. Probably about 20 nuts, bolts , screws, rubber or dead blow hammer, Clymers manual, yamma bond/ three bond, gaskets, seals. About $20 for crank, $30+ complete set. Clean outside good before you take anything apart.
  3. Need a more comeplete list of mods/settings. Start with new plugs and clean air filter. Do you have fresh fuel mix? Where are carbs leaking? Bowl drain or overflow, might need new float needle and seat. As to trading it, a Banshee isn't for everyone, and set-up wrong for the use is for no one. You don't road race a funny car. Did PO say what type of porting/by who ? What kind of Toomys? With a little work you can get it set for what you want. Answer all questions the best you can for the best help.
  4. Start by cleanin tank, petcock, carbs. Check ALL wireing, grounds, switches. Ohm what you can.
  5. Virtually no difference between A-arm and J-arm frame. Extended arms are about same price. J frame is a little lighter. Some say bushings on J's wear quicker. I think that with equal wear a J-arm will move more because pivots are closer together. Only advantge of a-arm is you can use stock heel guards (gay) if mounts haven't been cut off.
  6. I e-mailed him , length he gave me was 38 1/2", Know nothing about them tho.
  7. Are these cylinders new to this build? I see in your sig that you have Vito's pistons, are they the ones with a cut-down on the exhaust side on the crown?
  8. Wouldn't the effectiveness of the pipe come into play at some point? IE, if you make say 185 lbs with a compression gauge, what kind of pressure is developed at 9500 rpm ?
  9. There is a shop here in Ortonville, I'll get the address and tele for you later today.
  10. where you located?
  11. Well, have you tried it? Have you looked through the "What jets are you running" sticky? Didn't notice when I read thru for my set-up for starting point. Any chance of help from pipe maker? Depending on your prefered break-in procedure you won't be able to tell main jetting until you're ready to rip it. If it were me on the first full throttle rip I would pull choke halfway, if it runs worse you're rich enough, better, you're lean. Here, found this for you, just skimmed it, but you might be real close.
  12. I would do the flush couple of times, maybe even overfilling it on the flush. Long as flush comes out clean all is good.
  13. As to the rad, run the hose from by the cap down by steer brg, etc. As to bog, we'll need info on set up, all jets etc, or you could try turning air screw a little one way or other. Post back
  14. Ok, so the guy you got i from went thru 3 cranks, including a bad one right now? Have you torn it apart yet? If not do a leak-down before, just in case. What mix ratio was he/you using? If you've taken it apart what does head/piston look like on that side? How much time was on these cranks before they failed? X-2 on matched cases and squish if possible. Post pics if you can.
  15. I wouldn't say extremly rich. Do you like how it runs? Like how plugs look? If not try one size smaller jets.
  16. Offer him $80, that way you're not out much when you realize it's not what you want.
  17. Did you soak the carbs or just quick spray? Pull pilot jet and look to see that you can see through it. Make sure that if you blow air thru pilot circut it comes out in carb bore. Small passage don't take much to clog.

  19. Funny this came back up. Put new bars on Larry's shee recently and did this. Must work cause I didn't notice it. Will have to pay attention next time I ride it.
  20. Check the sticky "What jets are you running" inthe jetting forum, see if you can find a simular set-up and go from there. Pull the main and pilot in one carb and see what they are and post up. I would guess 250-260 at least, 200 is stock main. Might want to try 27.5 pilot.
  21. I'll trade my FMF golds and $100 for your R-2s
  22. Shoot me an ASS CLOWN !!

  23. What type of riding are you doing? Don't need bigger intake unless you have a bigger motor (or heavy mods). Stock carbs/intake are good for double stock power.
  24. Did you clean carbs while it was apart? Are slides in correct carb? Cutaway faces air box. Float bowls on correct carb? One with "BB" goes on left carb. Choke crossove tube on? TORS or parking brake shit still hooked up? =problems. List your carb jetting/settings.
