  1. The problem with all this info is that 99% of it is opinion and open to interpretation. A 4mil will run set up hundreds of different ways
  2. your levers/ grips and everything will fit
  3. What i mean was why didnt the welding thing work?
  4. soak it in wd40,just keep spraying it
  5. Electrical connectors on those are different, one or two of the years used a larger rear wheel lug pattern. you will go through upper arm bushings way more with j-arms,and aftermarket j-arms are out there, but can be a bitch to find. They are lighter obviously
  6. The guy earlier said that the spacer was to fix port timing when using a stroker. I stated that the spacer plate raises the port roofs and floors, but it doesnt do all thats necesary. When people say "it needs ported for a 4mm crank" The main idea is to lower the port floors, because the floors need to be the same height as the piston edge at bdc. BTW i dont like spacer plate motors either,You can get a noss head w/ custom stroker domes for under 200 i agree with you,i just didnt want the first guy thinking that a spacer plate does all the port timing thats needed
  7. The plates have nothing to do with making the port timing correct for a 4mil,they are for head clearance. using a spacer will raise your ports, but the main part pf porting for a 4mil is to lower the ports so when your piston is bdc the transfers floors are with the top of the piston. And you dont have to have your head rechamberd if you use banshee pistons with a spacer.
  8. Do they make 4mm serval cats? That would be sweet
  9. What puller did you have? I have welded the puller several times to flywheels without a problem with mig
  10. im cornfused, when you tighten down the carrier bolts, unless something is bent that should put it straight,or at least close. i always adjust the chain by hand by pulling back on the axle, then tighten the carrier bolts, then snug up my tensioners
  11. Lets see here, you will need the 4mil crank. port work. head work bigger carb setup ect ect ect
  12. gnarlys or pro circuits
  13. I am sure some people will disagree with me,but as long as they are starting ok,and not rattling to bad i have let them go as low as 90. i thought stock was 135,but i cant remember for sure. 110 is lower but i wouldnt worry yet.
  14. What type of pipe came off of it. If it was another aftermarket pipe i would try the 280's. If your replacing stock pipes i might ty a little richer
  15. I have had two of them leak through the exhaust because of carbon buildup
  16. If you want hp gains on a budget with your setup,Shave the head .020 thousandths, and turn your timing up +4
  17. im going to run it in my kx500 tranny from now on.
  18. Penzoil is not ideal,or optimal, but for your tranny you could go grab a bottle of the cheapest oil at a gas station, and it would be fine, just most oils are better
  19. I used one with no problems, but yeah it sucks to have to use their domes and o-rings
  20. I have run yamalube for about 2 years at 50:1 with no problems.
  21. I have heard pt mids are more like lows and pt highs are more like mids
  22. IF you cant notice a major difference in turning with a +4 or more swingarm, then there is something very wrong. I started out with a +2 on my 4mil trail bike and quickly switched back to a stocker when i noticed it turned slower Honestly a good rider is going to need to be able to lift the front end at will.
  23. Well that could be a few things,i would pull the plugs and check the area where the plugs seal against the head, sometimes it will get nicked up and not seal. Other thing could be detonation,if you are running 87 or 89 octane, try running 93,or if you are running 93 with mods try running some 100ll. SInce both are leaking i would think detonation but who knows.
  24. IF your keeping stock cylinders i would go with a stroker. Take for instance a stock port bike with 30mm carbs and toomey t5's,you are probably in the range of 45ish hp. Drop a 4mm crank in and lower your ports to run it correctly and you be up in the 60's for hp. You can get really high hp out of a big bore stock crank cub,but then you will have a mostly drag motor. STock cylinder ported 4mils set up right are monsters
