The stock stator will only push about 35W for each headlight, so no it won't handle a pair of 55W lights. I don't think it'll damage anything but you'll get more light out of holding up a Zippo. I don't know the story on HID lights, although from what I've heard they throw some mean light at the cost of using lotsa watts; they may not work at all without a battery.

ROFL Wallrat!! The only FF I've played since Square parted ways with the big N has been Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on the GBA, and it is by far the best thing on the little system. Moogles are the shizzle, if chocobos are still around are there moogles in the double-digit FF's?

Whats A Good Price To Pay For This Site?
BenBB replied to got1banshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
What would I pay? Whatever it takes, within reason...$50 one-time, $50 or $100 a year: can you really put a price on what you get out of it though? Do I think it should be a pay site? No. I think it oughta be free, just like I think you should be able to say pretty much whatever you want (a big attaboy to the mods for keeping it real). I don't like the automatic asterisk in the f-word but I'm not gonna get all emotional about it. Do I have the answer? No, but like everyone else I can offer opinions. If worst comes to worse I might suggest keeping the forums free, with the exception of a locked forum only accessible to paying members. Ideally the site would be self-sufficient, even profitable...it'll take alot of dedicated effort though, and might not ever pay off. NickyPap makes a great point, certainly some of us are capable of selling shirts, decals, calendars, etc. If Lee had a mechanism in place, perhaps people with these skills could sell some HQ gear, contribute part of the proceeds to the HQ, and still make a buck or two. Hell I don't know, if we knew what kinda coin was involved (via a counter or something), those more fortunate of us might donate to the cause... -
Everyone down for this weekend? Think I'll make it Saturday for the prerun, but it'll be late (like 3pm). Chris, tell Jason I got his number plates made but he might need to buy some more numbers for them (front & rear).

Very well could be a ball joint also as Stan said, I just had to replace one of my lowers due to a torn ball joint boot. If you can get it on a centerstand it's alot easier to locate the problem. Good luck.

Yes it's kind of a pain; to get to the sprocket you hafta loosen the left footpeg (and nerf bar if you have it), remove the shift lever, and remove the stator cover. I removed 3 of the little "fins" on the stator cover when I had it off so I could get a socket on the front sprocket and change it without going through the rest of that crap every time.

It musta got damn hot to melt the impeller, if it was me I would double check the jetting just to make sure. Your compression sounds good, I couldn't really tell if you were saying the problem would come and go or just happen when hot; alot of times an intermittent problem can be electrical but hopefully you're good to go...

No, you need to splice the two wires going to the key switch together to get it to run, then wire your tether kill switch to the black and white wires for the handlebar kill switch. The key switch works by grounding the red/black wire to black, so when it's "on" the circuit is complete, when it's "off" the circuit is open. This is opposite of the handlebar kill switch, and how tether kill switches work; when you turn them "off" (or pull the tether), the circuit is complete-white connects to ground and it kills the motor. So don't connect the tether to the key switch wires or else it'll only run when the tether is pulled out...

I love the HQ. I can always count on a laugh, chat with friends, and talk about Banshees...can't beat that.

Well put Abyss. I spent all day thinkin' about it too; had to drive for 6 hours (I'm usually at a desk or on a forklift). Right before I left the site locked up and I couldn't leave a reply in this thread, but here's the jist of it: Times change, and people change. You'd have to be a little more than naive to think that a good thing is gonna last. It's just time to re-align... Lee, keep us posted on what happens. We all appreciate all you've done over the years, and if there's anything I can do let me know. Here's hoping everything works out and my favorite place on the internet lives on.

On a side note, I think PC's are kinda like quads in that if a PC can handle hardcore gaming it'll do anything well...a quad set up right for MX can be lethal almost anywhere too (except alongside NYUK's beast but I won't go there)...

Almost the same system from Gateway (BTW I don't work for them so it's not like it matters which way you go; you gotta decide what's best for you, just another option): 510XL Only diff I see is 160GB HDD instead o 250, and logitech mouse instead of optical, oh yeah and it has a better video card...$1800 or $1940 w/3-year warranty. Lemme see what else they got and I'll post if I see better...

You might already know this but make sure the DVD burner is a "+" R/RW, or else you won't be able to copy all the fancy schmancy menus and features; DVD+R/+RW. I'll see what a GW like dat would run ya when I get a chance...

Short answer; as others have said it depends on what you want to do, I've had the best luck with Gateway, Dell is fair, and Compaq & HP suck. Building your own is worth the effort if you like that kinda thing but may not save you any dough. Longer answer; f*ck Dell. Boss has one, wouldn't run C&C Generals (Dimension 2100, cheap bastard bought a Celeron w/Intel on-board video). No prob, just upgrade the video card. Called Dell just to find out if the bitch had a AGP slot...4 calls and an hour on the phone (while looking at the worthless online support), talked to two different Hindu motherfuckers that barely had a grasp of the English language and finally...no AGP slot. Yes I coulda just opened the case but I was at work and the PC was at his house, what else was I gonna do? Great, so it has an ISA slot, no prob, found a GeForce 5200 for ISA, slapped it in, black screen. OK, go to PNY website support, found a FAQ that said the power supply may be insufficient. Fine, got an ATX power supply, plugged it into the Dell mobo, and bzzzzt. Dead power supply. Might be DOA, so I get another: bzzzzt. WTF? Get back online, find out DELL USES PROPRIETARY CONNECTORS. Read that alot of people fried their motherboards as well as the power supply, and a few caught on fire. Greeeeeat. Old power supply goes back in (which is a pathetic 85W by the way), email PNY and finally get the stupid on-board video disabled so it would use the graphics card. Bottom line: Dell's tech support for home PC's is FUCKED. Their components are SHITTY. Yes it's cheap and yes you may never have any probs, but god help you if you do. I've had similar shitty experiences with Compaq & HP. Run. I've had excellent experience with Gateway, every time I've had a problem I talked to a competent tech, got the parts ASAP and had little to no downtime. Prices have always been competitive and systems perform excellent. Alienware looks great for serious gaming, but spendy. I was looking at a decent all-around gaming system from Gateway for $1100 that I would pop for if I had the bucks (similar Alienware was like $1600, no doubt better but is it $500 better?). If you don't need hi-power graphics you can get a decent P4 system for $500-600 from Gateway. One thing to keep in mind is if you plan on keeping the system for any amount of time, keep your options open: look for lotsa slots & bays, and don't sell yourself short where it counts (FSB mostly and CPU & memory clock speed to a lesser extent). Sorry for the long post, had to vent...

That was truly hilarious! LMAO!!

LMAO! That's just wrong man!

Justintoxicated's bike was doing the same thing @ Dumont, the plugs were brand new and tight, not real sure what the problem was but Indubitably's bike had a solution; one of those Trinity plug locks...

Need a little more info: what's your jetting now? temp & elevation? premix ratio? and how big are those tires? what gearing? On the outside it sounds like your mains are rich, but at the same time it could just be too much load on the motor with those tires, especially since it sounds like it runs well in the lower gears...
-
Everyone else is right on; check the float height and the float needle, all it takes is a grain of sand in the float needle and it'll piss fuel like mad. An outside possibiliy is that there's a pinhole in one of the floats, making it sink instead of float (but if both carbs do it it's a real long shot, when you pull the float needle shake the float and see if you can hear any fluid inside). If you find any dirt in there I would recommend an in-line fuel filter or at the very least pull the petcock and check the strainers, I've had one of those fall off and let crap into the carbs. Good luck.
-
I agree with everyone else, start with what you've got (if you're just adding the Deltas) and see how it runs; if your mains are perfect now I would think the only thing you might need to change is the needle clip position, but I would double check the mains just in case and go from there. Good luck.
-
I agree with sredish, as long as you don't go to an extreme like different main sizes. An air leak is a possibility, however it could also be something simple like float height not the same or a clogged pilot. I would check those things and clean the carb as well as you can and see if it persists. Good luck.

Amen. Get blitzed and have a sober driver; other than that it's all gravy man, make the most of it!!!

How Long Do You Last On Gas
BenBB replied to BaNsHEE ELiMiNaToR's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Duning or trail riding I usually get about 1.5 hours out of a tank. Last desert race was a 23-mile loop and I burned almost a full tank (didn't hit reserve, mebbe 3/4 of a tank). That's with 350-370 mains. I agree with lincster, depending on your elevation and premix ratio 280 mains sounds lean with K&N's...but bigger mains are gonna make your mileage even worse (of course if it's lean now you risk a meltdown)... Unless your floats are set way too high and fuel is pissing out the overflows, that's pretty much the nature of the beast; suck gas and go fast -
Man, you guys kill me

You can take the cylinders out to 0.100" over, so unless they are really bad you can (hopefully) just go 0.060" over. Not sure why your crank bearing let go, but sounds like it damn sure did. Gonna need a new crank, good excuse for a ported stroker, heh. Good luck.
