  1. You mean, what is to gain by modding or custom-fabbing a wiring harness? Nothing really from a performance standpoint. Mostly it's aesthetic (not having unused connectors hanging from the harness). If you're mounting your electronics somewhere else you can eliminate alot of clutter. And lastly, if done right you'll have a little less potential for problems; like routing the harness so there's less chance of rubbing the frame or pipes, maybe using newer connectors that have a newer or better weathertight seal, not having unused wires wasting space, etc. So yes I think you're right that there's no power gain through the wires, and neatness is probably the biggest reason (I'm sure you've seen H-D bikes that have no wires visible because they are routed through the frame, well that is just plain cool).
  2. Awesome coverage Meat! "Does this bumper look a little tweaked?" had me rollin'! Got me a new wallpaper too...
  3. Right on Meat!! Good to hear, now hope you get the lights wired relatively painlessly...
  4. That sucks. You might need to try a seal with a smaller ID. The stock seal size should be 10x22x7 (ID x OD x CC, in mm). You could try to find a 9x22x7 seal and try that...
  5. I run an Alloyspecialties locknut, with two allen bolts and it works perfect. I would recommend it.
  6. What kind of tranny oil are you using? Might need to switch to a Bel-Ray Gearsaver or Honda gear oil in the 70W or 80W range...
  7. Definitely time to invest in an Outerwear.
  8. Meat's electrical nightmare volume 2! J.J. is right on, you can just unplug the TORS control box. The only wire that matters going to it is the black with a white stripe-if that one grounds out it will kill the motor (it's the same wire that the handlebar kill switch uses to kill the motor, when grounded). So the BEST thing to do would be to either tape off that connector real well, or cut the wires at the connector and tape 'em up (especially that white/black one). The black is just a ground and don't matter, and the black/yellow only goes to the throttle switch and the TORS boxes so they really don't matter; they can just be cut & taped off. The only thing you need to solder together to make it run is the black/red to black for the key switch if you remove it. For the lights, the easiest way to do it would be to find the yellow, blue, and green wires on the wiring harness side of the light switch. Yellow is power coming from the stator (via the voltage regulator). Green goes to the headlight and blue goes to the taillight. Put the yellow wire on one side of the switch and both the green & blue on the other side, then connect the headlights to the green and black (ground) wires on the factory wiring harness. Good luck.
  9. Nice ones Nighty and tithead!!! Going to Nighty's page now...
  10. It's almost as if they designed the color to INDUCE nausea...
  11. Thanks nickxc. Here's one pic I have that shows the lower mounting bolt. Stock silencers have 3 mounting bolts per side, my FMF silencers only use the rear two (the front one is a bitch to get to anyway). This shot shows the lower mounting bolt. The other mount is at the top center, more or less, of the silencer canister. It uses the front bolt hole for the grab bar to the frame. I got my silencers used with no hardware so I cut about a 1" spacer out of some aluminum tubing, and used a longer bolt (12mm?) to go through the silencer, grab bar, and into the frame. Sorry but I can't find a pic that shows that one well. This pic sort of does but you can't see the spacer...
  12. SO WHAT'S IT GONNA TAKE? Veronica Zemanova sporting a Coalfest t-shirt?!??
  13. Could be a bent/worn shift fork, or possibly even a worn engagement dog/shaft. Did everything look OK in the tranny or did you have the cases split? How about the shift star?
  14. Yes it will.
  15. A sad day indeed STLBILL, but better to have your ex-Banshee screamin' for someone else than banished to your garage. We do expect a ride report on the Aquatrax and if possible pics with bikini babes, remember you're always welcome here.
  16. OK you're gonna need a butter knife, a roll of duct tape, and a car battery...j/k man. So you're gonna reformat the hard drive and reinstall XP? Do you have any kind of recovery discs or XP discs?
  17. Mmmmm rock babes...you got my vote man, and I'll gladly help out the rock babes when they show up so you and the wife don't have to
  18. I haven't had any trouble with mine, are you sure they aren't in a bind when mounted?
  19. Thanks akpopeye, good links for sure, especially if you're actually tryin' to build an RZ
  20. Naw G, I got it but the bronze bushing is cracked. It's probably OK to run it that way, and I will if I have to, but I've been looking for a new one.
  21. The higher wattage stators don't change the voltage/wattage to the ignition circuit, only the lighting circuit, and the two are completely separate so chances are your FMF just happened to go out shortly after you put in the stator. I think FMF quit making those AOF ignitions so it may be a common problem. On the upside, I've had excellent luck with my Dyna so hopefully you should be set...
  22. And IF we get the orders in you SHOULD have the shirt(s) before June 4th...
  23. Allright people, time to step up and represent. Yamahammer is trying to get enough orders to do the run of Coalfest shirts, and he NEEDS an email to him confirming the size and quantity of shirts you want. Posting here ain't gonna cut it, you need to email: [email protected] or if that doesn't work: [email protected] These shirts will be the same high-quality work that Yamahammer & Evil did for the Roostfest shirts, if you haven't seen them they are awesome. We NEED a minimum of 75 confirmed orders to make the run, so far Yamahammer has only received a handful of email confirmations. There's more info in this thread if you want to check it out. If someone is willing to order a few extra and sell them at coalfest, that would be great. Even if you're not going, this is gonna be a good-looking shirt with "Bansheehq.com" and a picture of a Banshee on it. EMAIL YOUR ORDER ASAP, to get 'em done by Coalfest the orders need to be in BEFORE Wednesday, May 19th. This is a rough layout of the shirt, bear in mind it will be short sleeve and the Banshee on front will be the best-looking one available:
  24. That sucks, yer sick AND it's Monday. Oh well, try and have a good one!!

    First Mx

Right on Wassup350!! Keep riding and practicing and you'll be in better shape in no time, you WILL get a workout on an MX track. I agree with QuadMX too about the long travel, +2 a-arms & axle along with good front shocks will make a huge difference for half of what the long travel alone will cost...
