19mm for a 28PWK, according to www.carbparts.com (go to Keihen, then tuning, then jetting). Bigger PWK's have a different float height. Hope this helps...

If you have stock 14/41 gearing, throw on a 13T front and see what you think. Bumping up the compression is gonna help alot, but for now just the front sprocket change should make a nice difference, and unless your chain is reaaaaally stretched you should be ok with it. If you want to play with the ratios (and have Excel) I've got a gearing spreadsheet here, that some HQers put together back in the day.

Kermit dunes, TX vs. Little Sahara, OK
BenBB replied to 98bonerSTOCKshee's topic in Riding and Events Forum
Mapquest sez OKC is 500 miles, 9hrs from Kermit. Kermit is worth checkin' out I think, I haven't made it to LS yet so can't compare, but the area is huge. There are no fees, regs, rangers, or facilities (small asphalt parking lot, 4 or 5 covered picnic tables; no water or potties). That map looks like the place, right on Highway 115 between Kermit and Andrews (the dunes are about 5 miles outside Kermit, that map is in Km). The parking area is right in the center of the pic, right where that road (county road?) intersects 115, at the North corner. If you guys plan a trip lemme know, I might be there. -
In the US, I think it was just '84 and '85 for the RZ. Check out this website: http://www.ifrance.com/rd-rz350lc/ Not sure what that is if it's a '70, may be an air-cooled RD or ????
-
Right on XT, the RZ conversion would probably be the easiest, if you can get a good running motor complete with electricals you only gotta worry about 1) exhaust flanges (a muffler shop should be able to fab them cheap, it's just a 2-bolt flange with a short spigot that matches the OD of your pipes), 2) mounting a small battery, or using a battery eliminator (eliminators are all over ebay, I'm going the battery route with a very small 12V Interstate battery), 3) mounting the PV servo somewhere and 4) you may hafta dent the left pipe, depending on what brand you have, to clear the PV housing on the left cylinder. If you go the CR500 route locogato can hook you up I'm sure, his is damn nice, a very clean installation...just bear in mind you'll have to fab motor mounts and possibly a custom pipe. As far as where I'm at, Patriot Racing has my cylinders now...I sent them for a fresh bore & 795 pistons while I had a few bucks, and sent Dan a sponsorship request letter (I also sent 'em to a select few others, heh). Being the ultra-cool professional that he is, Dan is gonna sponsor me with free shop labor and his cost on parts, WOOHOO!!! So now he's working on the porting, gonna see if his cost on Twister and Crank Works for a long-rod crank w/TZ and max-load bearings is any less than TDR, and will work some magic on the RZ head when I get it together and can check the squish clearance. I'll get a 1-piece base gasket from Vito's and do the port matching myself with a little guidance from Dan the man. I've got all the electricals rounded up except a battery and a mount (thinking the inside rear of the airbox...my work is an Interstate dealer so the battery will be free), I already got the RZ gears backcut and have the RZ shift drum (with a boonman-modded shift star) and RZ forks ready to drop in the Banshee cases. I've got the RZ crank core ready to send off, and I've got the right size flanges for the exhaust, just need to measure the pipe ID when I pull them to have a local shop weld on the spigot. I still want some new TDR reeds, and ABM-Banshee just got us a sponsorship with Twin-Air, so I'd really like to try their setup but will need the whole mounting flange (totally different than my K&N & UMI adapter)...only thing is I REALLY need to get that PRM swingarm skidplate and chain guide or else I won't be able to run anything except TT. I had August off between races, but now it looks like instead of tearing down the motor I got my hands full with...women trouble heh. I know what you mean Meat, back-to-school time with clothes & shoes will cut a paycheck down damn quick, my son's summer off ends in a couple weeks. LOL J.J., "where's the raise?" it's like they're sharks, smell that blood in the water heh. Meat are you still gonna go with a stroker crank? I'm sure you got a core already but I'm gonna have an extra (the original Banshee crank), I'll PM you when I hear for sure what Dan can do on them...you might hafta become an official member of our team Wide Open Racing with some decals and get your butt out to a race once in a while but it might be worth it...

Right on Meat, happy birthday a day late!!

Damn you guys have been busy too, I've had other shit going on so I haven't even got a damn skidplate yet. Is that bearing on the starter? Can you get a sealed bearing? I'm still waiting on my jugs but chances are I won't be able to do the motor work until after the season is over, but we'll see what happens. Hope everything goes all right with both of ya, don't get lazy on the month off heh, September will be here soon...

I like your chocolate chip cookie theory Ducman...factor in a trillion years or so and it'll even fall into a cold glass of milk, heh. Evil, hookas evolved from Coca-cola can pipes, and in divine terms the hookah begat Tuned Port Injection. If you really want a real mindfuck consider for a moment if the entire universe as we know it is just one grain of sand at Glamis... Dogboystoy and Holyman, really good stuff there, most beyond my comprehension but very interesting reads. On Dog's side, I think that given the almost inconceivable timespan, anything can and does happen, even life itself (as someone else mentioned, when given a near infinite amount of time, mathematics and probability go out the window). Sure you may never make a cow out of cow juice, but who's to say if you tried for a billion years you couldn't come up with an amoeba or a toaster? On Holy's side, where did the universe come from in the first place? I mean, SOMETHING happened, whether it was created in an instant or not we'll probably never know, but time and space had to come from somewhere, who's to say it wasn't by virtue of an unknown cosmic entity? Perhaps He "banged" out the universe and bailed, perhaps He checks in every million years. On a closing note, how does religion explain the dinosaurs? How does science actually determine if something is "alive" (the difference between a jar of all the chemicals that comprise a human body compared to a living one)? Not being a smartass, just curious. -
LOL Proquad!! Question is, did you get injured throwin' out the old one or bangin' the new one?! Hehe, sorry man I know it's tough, hope everything goes well. Tats sounds like yer already well on your way to movin' on, that's a good thing man, take it easy. Truth is I'm going through the same shit as both of yas, separated now and soon to be divorced, already met a woman that is 100X better but gonna take the time to find out for sure. Don't sweat it guys, be yourself, enjoy your life and don't let someone else drag ya down...there are some good women left out there, once you know for sure what you DON'T want it makes it alot easier to find the right ones...

LOL some funny shit in here, I can see both sides' point of view...I guess I have our forefathers to thank for being able to do that, and their offspring's blood spilled to be able to talk about it...freedom baby. I heard something funny once, someone said "I don't think going to church makes you any more Christian than standing in the garage makes you a car". Personally, I think that humans have a spiritual capability, and that we each have our own way of expressing it or experiencing it. I take a minute every time I'm at the dunes to appreciate the beauty of the sand and the clouds, and yeah when I'm really in a bind I'll have a few words with the "big guy" upstairs, just in case. To me, it's like "to each his own"...it takes all kindsa people in this life, believe what you want to... -

I'll throw in a couple cents. If you're running dunes and desert, unless the trails are super tight, get +2" a-arms. Most aftermarket a-arms will be forward (I run Ricky Stators also and would recommend them, they are 5/8" forward). Also go with a +2" axle (I run an LSR Axcalibur and love it). The a-arms will come with longer tie rods, you'll need to use your stock ends. One thing I might mention is that the stock Banshee rear shock is an Ohlins. It's a very good quality shock and fully adjustable. Unless you go with a no-link I don't think you'll gain a whole lot from a multi-rate rear shock since the stock linkage is progressive. If you really hate how the rear stocker works, you can always get it revalved and/or resprung for your weight and riding ability (Works, Janssen, Derisi and others do this). On the swingarm length, I think it all comes down to traction. Sand draggers need that extra length to keep the front end down. MX & TT racers gain alot from shorter swingers for better traction and tighter turning radius. Most of the XC guys I've talked to like the stock length. So if you're constantly spinning, consider a shorter arm; if you're struggling to keep the front end down, go longer. Either way get a round-housing (or Honda style) swingarm and carrier, it is WELL worth not having the chain adjustment nightmare of the stocker, and will be stronger. A-arm brands I would recommend; Ricky Stator, Janssen, Quicksand, Roll Design, Leagers. A-arm brands I would avoid like the plague; anything made by American Star (some places sell them as their own but are ASR-like Alba and Magnum-they suck). Axle brands I would recommend; Lonestar, RPM. Axle brands I would avoid; Durablue (not firsthand experience but I've heard enough horror stories). Shock brands, well get the best you can afford but I run Works fronts and love them, for the money I don't think you can beat 'em. Elka, Axis, TCS, Ohlins, etc. are all good brands and if they are set up right you probably couldn't tell much difference when riding, but anything is better than the stock fronts. Another thing to consider when you're upgrading is an axle locknut like Alloyspecialties, shockwears to keep the shocks new, and a good chain like DID X-ring if you hafta change the length. Good luck.

K&N's are great for the dunes I think. You might check a couple things tho; did you put a dab of grease inside the rubber where the K&N mounts? Is your K&N getting old? (they do wear out eventually and develop holes in the gauze-hold it up to a light and see if there are any big holes) I don't ever oil the inside, just spray down each pleat and let it soak in. The only problem I have with mine is loading up in severe dust. Good luck.

Happy b-day guys, tats sounds like you're gonna have enough for tha three of ya's, heh.
-
Damn coop, sorry to hear that. I agree with Lukkyphil tho, you will regret it if you sell it, just give it some time and don't focus too much on the accident, these things happen to all of us so don't let it get the best of you. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Like the cross-hatch pattern that a ball hone leaves. That's all I did when I re-ringed, just ball-honed the cylinders. Take a look at the ports when you're done and make sure there's no sharp edges, you might need to chamfer them just a lil. I'm sure you won't have any probs, like tats said it's just everything (but the head) X2. It never hurts to double check the bore for wear, and mic the piston skirts, but other than that just get the ring end gap right and you're stylin'. Oh yeah, don't forget to follow the torque pattern on the head and jugs.
-
ROFL! I guess it's true what they say, "never compare yourself to others, they are more fucked up than you can imagine". Nothing against anyone, just comforting to hear I'm not the only one with funky habits. Thought of another one; I always put up my tools (and yes every one of 'em has it's place) right after I use 'em. Pisses me off sometimes because I'll spend more time walkin' back and forth to the toolbox for a 12mm wrench than using the damn thing.

If Kerry made that speech I'd fall out of my chair. If Bush made it I'd wonder who taught him the word "abrogating". If anyone else did, it would be a landslide (I still say George Carlin oughta be running the show). The rest of the world already hates us, let's see how they get along without anything from us but a fucking retalitory daisy cutter when they cross us...

Walt; 1280x1024 32-bit with an Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4200 that way outstrips my measly 46.6K average connect speed. Yes yes would love to see the covert apparel shots!! Oh yeah, forgot to mention, the site is a big improvement over the old one, much cleaner and well laid out. The old "fade" from page to page was mildly irritating but they've always had so much good stuff I can't afford that it was always a good place to check out the products...
-
Same here, wish I could check it out. That's a hell of a purse, hope your cuz does well. For sure get some pics and have fun in the pits.
-
One more?! Are you crazy? I limped in on the second lap, that track was brutal, I don't know how the Experts made four...
-
Looks great Walt. I'm on dialup, the load time wasn't bad and the flash or whatever worked well (atvscene.com takes much longer to load I think). Excellent sharp graphics and layout. I didn't mind the white type on black background. I'm not a fan of popups but didn't mind these, and they do load fast. Minor details; the product pages have very small type, even on my 19" LCD. It looks like they are catalog pages, and the overall layout is VERY good, but reading the text takes a little squinting...and it won't scale any larger when I maximize the page (yes I'm too lazy to find and use the magnifier thingy). Still it's legible, and I'm sure it's perfect in printed form, but that was really the only thing I found to mention (not criticise). Gripes (yes this is sarcasm); where's the BHQ link? More babes! More pics of K&K rides: the for sale quads had decent pics but it would be cool to see more quads, along with the bikes, like in the showroom page. Yes I'm a pic whore, gimme, heh.

I'm a little paranoid about my Banshee getting stolen. I have a chain & padlock through the rear sprocket, the frame, and the stand...a chain & padlock on the garage door, leave the opener unplugged (hey most cons are that stupid), and a blanket over her just in case I have the garage door open while mowing the lawn so passersby can't see it. I hate it when the toilet paper or paper towels roll of the back instead of the front. For sure the pocket thing; right rear wallet, home keys left front, work keys & knife right front, pen in left front shirt pocket and cell phone on right hip (at work). Here's another one; I CANNOT stand having a splinter. If I see one, everything grinds to a halt and no matter what I'm doing I gotta dig that fucker out.
