  1. Sheared the fucker off and trashed the caliper...anybody got one laying around?
  2. I actually rode a Honda the other day kinda fun heh, 'till I stalled the fucker and tried to kick it back to life...guess I ain't the only one that missed Big Spring huh?
  3. Stop it I'm gettin' all misty What's happenin' y'all, I'm still kickin' but just busy as hell, good to see a few familiar friends are among the living too heh. Short story long I got the divorce (after which I discovered there was a rat on the HQ telling the cunt what I posted-yeah that's right motherfucker tell her I said that too!)started going to college online at AIU to finish my bachelor's in IT got my son a Blaster and my RZ conversion complete found an awesome woman that rides recently addicted to Xbox Live and Halo 2 think I just got a part time job at UPS (like I needed that on top of 56hrs at current job AND full-time school, bleh)...let's see what else, oh just got a nice '01 Silverado, I'll attach some pics... Few things I've done in the last 6 months or so; RZ topend, Patriot ported, Wiseco 795's Port matched & polished cases Crankworks longrod RZ backcut tranny, drum, rails, Boonman's shift star Works rebuilt/resprung triple rate fronts, added rezzy's Welded/reinforced/powdercoated frame RZ electrical system and battery in the airbox PTR Revs (thanks JKJK!) Galfer rear wave rotor, pads, ss line Misc shit like seat cover, crossbar pad, PD kill switch etc. Brandon, Blasty, Bansh & truck I recently picked up Sidewinder as a sponsor, just installed their Ti chain and Tri-metal sprockets (beefy as hell), along with Xspeed helmets (thru sponsorhouse.com, pretty cool). Still have Patriot, PRM, Denton, and Works. Those ATVCCS races were a blast and I was in 2nd overall in Open A early in the season despite missing a couple (same as the NMDRC), but doing the RZ conversion took longer than I thought so I didn't get to race much this fall. Hopefully next year I'll hit every NMDRC race and at least the closer ATVCCS ones. And of course I'll be at Roostfest '06 Anyway yeah my swingarm is going under the knife again, hafta weld & reinforce it until I can find/afford a stock length round housing, or get Stan to fab me one out of some seriously strong shit, apparently I'm hard on 'em. Take it easy everyone
  4. I think Foamy's thinkin' about the same as everyone else here... http://www.illwillpress.com/kat.html
  5. Mighta been posted before, not sure... Kehler Quad link Tricked Out Custom Cycles page
  6. HAHAHAHA!!! Oh wait, I've been there, sad but true
  7. One more thing, take some pics/video, I want to see what the races are like down under!
  8. Alot depends on the course, but the basics are the same; suspension, reliability, physical conditioning, and saving time... IMO Banshees are pretty competitive in the open stuff with only minor mods like you already have. The big difference you'll see compared to the thumpers is that Banshees will tire you out faster in the tight stuff-clutching, shifting and hanging on when the power hits does wear on you. Anyway for reliability, some good ideas are full chassis/a-arm/swingarm skidplates (I like PRM), reinforced rims (beadlocks aren't really a necessity), tall tires with lotsa plies (I prefer Holeshots, 23" front and 20" rear), make sure your cooling system is up to snuff (I run Water Wetter in good quality 50/50 antifreeze and water, put some foam around the radiator so air doesn't flow around it), make sure your jetting is dialed in, and make sure everything is mechanically sound (compression, cables, etc.). Saving time, I run an IMS 5.5 gal tank, minutes lost in the pits refueling are hard to make up. Tearoffs help in muddy conditions. Use a camelback. Don't pit for longer than you have to, and avoid it if at all possible (I carry a tire plug set and a can of fix-a-flat, CO2 flat fixer would be better). Physical conditioning, well just ride as much as you can, as hard as you can. Desert/XC is alot more about stamina and bulletproofing your machine than anything else I think...you can't win if you don't finish. If at all possible ride the race course beforehand and do the prerides, memorize the hairy sections and where to really open it up. Suspension-get the best you can afford, it WILL pay off. Long travel isn't always a necessity, unless you're over 250lbs, but it doesn't hurt if you got the bucks. If it's open desert get it as wide as you can (+3 a-arms, +4 axle). Don't flip the rims or get more offset than stock (at least the fronts), when the wheel is more outboard of the spindle it'll tend to jerk the bars with every little rut. I like Lonestar's axle, mine has been through hell and back. My Ricky Stator +2 a-arms have worked great, most aftermarket a-arms seem to be pretty good quality. I run Works front shocks and love them, best bang for the buck and mine are perfect for what I do (the stock Ohlins rear is a good unit). A steering stabilizer should help, I need one but haven't been able to take advantage of my Denton sponsorship yet, there are some real high-dollar ones out there but I haven't tried them. On a side note I like the front end high to get through the whoops, stiff front shocks and 23" front tires makes getting the front end up for whoops alot easier, especially when you're dead tired on the last lap. Other than that, just remember the little stuff; traction & gearing to suit the course, fresh fuel, clean air filter, etc. Good luck!!
  9. Thanks Stan, wiring is not gonna be a factor since I'm building the harness from scratch, but I still don't want to get too crazy with the gussetting heh.
  10. The lighting coil is separate from the ignition coil, so yes it may run fine even if the lighting coil on the stator is shot. Also since it's a separate system, to check the lights you need to check the ground, wiring, connectors, switches, bulbs, and the voltage regulator (usually when that goes out the lights come on and then blow when you rev it up, but it could still be the culprit). More on the electrical system is in the FAQ below. Good luck.
  11. Rod that SUCKS. Hope ya find a way better job and can tell the old one where they can shove it... I do need a stock length round housing swinger, but my stock one is so beat I think I'm better off getting a new one, just found another crack on it pretty soon it's gonna be more weld than steel
  12. Thanks loco, got it stripped last night and gonna pressure wash it today, found a bunch of cracked welds on the rear shock crossmember, hadn't seen those before...
  13. I just got word I can get my frame powdercoated for dirt cheap, only thing is I'm in a time crunch; trying to get to a race in OK on Labor Day and not even sure if I'll have my motor back together by then... Anyway I just need some suggestions and/or pics of where I'll need it most (for desert racing-weight isn't as much an issue as reliability). I know the steering stop is getting some iron, that little fucker has bent a time or two. Steering loop, footpeg area, mebbe subframe...what else???
  14. Have a good one Lefty!!!
  15. LOL that's cool, 'cept now I need one for my toolbox for when I need some refreshment while turnin' wrenches, oh and one for the garden hose so I don't get thirsty when I'm washin' her
  16. Hell yeah they are, I'd be royally pissed Mike, after surgically removing the goods it's time for some demolition...actually I was just gonna take my old junk pc out and unload a box of shells in it last weekend but got rained out
  17. Scope out ign.com they have real good coverage on the systems, and babes and movies heh. Anyway you should find anything on each system's site (can't find one on the Revolution tho): xbox360.ign.com ps3.ign.com cube.ign.com
  18. Either one will work but since you've got resistor caps I'd use B8ES, especially if they were cheaper than the R plugs.
  19. It'll run either way, technically the orange wire should go on the "+" terminal and the black wire on the "-" terminal (the markings are on the coil near the terminals).
  20. Brad it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, of course starting with an unpainted surface is always a shitload easier (I was pullin' my hair out doing the front brake master cyl, what the hell kind of paint is that??! space shuttles oughta use that shit I know it would survive re-entry). Anyway mine came out better than I expected, damn near mirrored it. Almost as good as JKJK's that he did with the Eastwood kit...almost. These are his, get out yer shades:
  21. That's what I'm thinkin' too, just from lookin' at the frame & swingarm and EFI and front suspension looks like it would be damn good in the desert...
  22. I got mine apart now too, waiting on the longrod crank to go with my RZ cylinders heh, but anyway here's all the stuff I did while I had the cases split: Rebuilt & trued/welded crank with "max load" or "race" bearings TZ clutch side bearing (Koyo 70241-1) All new seals, gaskets Water pump bearing Yamabond or Threebond 1211 for case halves Water Wetter/Engine Ice Boonman modded shift star RZ forks RZ gears, backcut dogs 2nd-5th Pancake bearing mod for clutch pushrod Barnett clutch springs 2.5" hole under round clutch cover for adjustment Adjusted shift shaft Polished the cases, jugs, head, clutch cover All new allen head bolts throughout Wiseco 795's Patriot ported RZ jugs, modded head TDR reeds on my ported cages PTR revs I already had: Advanced timing via slotted stator plate holes Case saver K&N on UMI flange Fattys (might still try those) And if I had unlimited fundage I woulda got: Billet water pump impeller Billet water pump drain cover Hinson clutch basket Lock-up clutch & clear cover V-Force reeds 28mm carbs Billet stator cover & clutch side inserts Monoblock powervalved Cheetahs w/Nikasil Rocket pipes Fuzzy dice
  23. If you got the beans get it from Holyman, it'll be better than stock. Dave didn't I send ya an extra one when you did mine? Can't remember, but anyway, maybe you can help this guy out. Kermithills lemme know if you need a hand with the Banshee, I'm seein' a girl over in Midland and I could help ya out with the topend or whatever. If you've ever been to Stanton to the Outback park you prolly saw her heh, and/or her sons on dirt bikes. When I raced an XC a couple months ago there was a couple 16-year-old girls there (dunno if they were from Midland or Big Spring), one on a Bansh and the other on a YFZ450, if I was you I'd be all over that like stink on a monkey, when you get yours runnin' anyway
  24. Kinda depends what ya already got; air filter? pipes? Porting will probably get you the most bang for the buck but won't do too much good on stock pipes... If you haven't already you can do some cheap/free mods like shave the head, advance the timing, port the reed cages, lighten the flywheel, polish the exhaust port, clean up the casting flaws on the intake, dial in the jetting, and remove dead weight. Don't forget gearing and traction, like having a worn clutch it doesn't matter if you got a hundred horses if they don't get to the ground. BTW you in Texas? I need to hit Kermit when I get mine back together
