  1. someone out there must have a banshee w/stock pipes, that want to upgrade to smooth transitioning woods type pipes
  2. i guess its namura....... http://www.mfgsupply.com/ATVEngineYamNamura.html you should also be able to get them from marshall distributing.
  3. I believe its either namura or vertex that makes high comp pistons for the banshee. They are out there, as I've seen them before, but I would rather see you change out the domes or shave the stock head, to increase sompression. Nobody mentioned either that a thinner base gasket will increase compression.
  4. I have for sale a used set of ceramic coated PSI banshee pipes. in the pics you can see where some cracks have been welded up. the pipes have a few little dents in the entry part of the pipes. nothing that will happer flow or how the banshee will run. these pipes have a very smooth power band and are meant for low-mid, so they would be fine for the woods, etc. asking $60.
  5. ethanol is bad for your 2-strokes. its a solvent and washes oil off of the bearings and other engine components. i had 3 yamaha sled engines go down this winter from that shit ethanol fuel. two of the three burn downs were from BP 93 oct w/10% ethanol and the other one was from a local cenex gas station. i called amsoil and klotz and both companies told me that they know that ethanol washes oil off of the bearings. amsoil said they changed the formula on their dominator, intercepter, and all 4-stroke sled oils even, to be more sticky and more willing to stick to the crank bearings when ethanol fuel is being used. klotz told me their oil would withstand 15% ethanol, but no higher. both of these oil companies make decent oil, and they both stated that the ethanol is junk. two of the 3 sleds that went down on me, were running yamalube and the other one was running amsoil. moral of the story......keep that ethanol shit outta your 2-strokes (banshee)!!
  6. i'm a little guy.......144 to 147 lbs (depends which scale i go on :=) there was material taken off of the O.D. on both sides of the 2 nubby things, where the pickup coil gets its reading/signal from. there was also material taken off the face of the flywheel.
  7. I had my flywheel lightened last year and did notice that it would slightly rev quicker when in neutral and when driving it. I paid attention for it wanting to fall off the pipe easier and for it to be doggy on the start, but noticed it hadn't really changed from when I had the stock un-cut flywheel on it. Maybe I got lucky?? Lightened flywheel seems to be working for me.
  8. Jbooker82, its ok to use yamabond as the head gasket. Its only gotta seal like 140psi in there. Lol. Also, its ok to use duck tape as a base gasket. If you need to change the port timing a little, just apply another layer of duck tape. See how easy it is to fix things.....I mean cobble things. haha. Ahhh shit....the things some people will use yamabond for. At least he didn't say to use rtv silicone. I've seen clear house window caulk used for head gaskets before. The shit that redneck mechanics will do.
  9. I'm gonna say over-revving. I gotta rebuild a banshee for a guy locally. He broke a rod and has 18 inch tires just like you and same broken rod scenario.
  10. Yeah, they don't advertise at all, but sometimes its the "quiet kid" (SLP) that you gotta watch out for. Know what I mean? Good to hear that there pipes are good. I've never even ran across a used set on ebay ever. I swear they only sold like 3 sets of pipes ever......lol.
  11. what happened in the past? i must have missed something??
  12. i agree. they make GREAT snowmobile pipes and i would ASSUME that they would have put that same quality into their banshee pipes. i always wanted to try them, but could get other pipes for less, so i went for the route that saved me $$$. i run the SLP pipes on my yamaha viper sled and they absolutely rock. strongest pipes on the market for a viper.
  13. i bought some carb needles and a head gasket from him. great guy to deal with. fast shipping, great communication, and reasonable shipping costs. would buy from again.
  14. Is the set of cylinders w/the cr250 reeds ported at all? Can I get some pics of the bore, port work (if any), etc?
  15. IMO, you might want to go w/shearers for drag racing. If you want to run your T5's some more, I would up the exh duration to 190* or 192*, and leave transfers alone, but raise rear boost to 42.5mm. When I get home from work, I'll measure up the height of my cylinders and see what they measure. I'll get back to you later today.
  16. I forgot to tell you that your blow down is 30*, which will give you a smooth power delivery and broader powerband......great for trails. What pipes do you have and what type of riding do you do?
  17. What pipes do you have now and what type of riding do you do?
  18. I forgot to ask who did the porting, cause its nice smooth and even work.
  19. First off, thanks for giving deck to port roof measurements, when asking "what kinda port job I got". Nice pics too. I thought base to deck was 104mm stock?? I don't have my notes handy, so I can tell ya if the base or deck has been cut. I ran your measurements, assuming .5mm deck height (common), and came up w/187.8* exh, 128* transfers (ports on the side), and 120* for rear boost port (could be a little more IMO). I would say you have around an aggressive trail port, to mild dune.
  20. The FMF needle....is there 2 and are they similar to vitos needles, where they were meant to fatten the jetting up after pipes and filter etc? If so, I'll take them and the stock new head gasket.
  21. This is where you really need to know your shit. You don't have your timings right on your ports and it can run like a turd. You can ruin a good set of cylinders quite quickly and then be out a good $300. Not to mention you need the 90-deg handpiece from cc specialties to do the proper work to the transfers. Your $30 dremel won't work here, or even any good elsewhere for that matter.
  22. There is nothing wrong w/running a OEM cast piston, as yamaha pistons are made by "ART" in japan. I NEVER had issues w/a OEM yamaha piston failing. I currently have Pro-X pistons in my shee and like them too.
