  1. br9es plugs (common sled plugs), are 1 range cooler than stock. b8es is the stock plug. those br9es plugs didn't cause that melt down.
  2. when i put reed spacers on mine, it lost top end bad. take off the reed spacers and try again.
  3. its not your coil or stator and it doesn't matter which plug gets what wire....the coil fires each plug @ the same time. i never played w/those kehin carbs that you are using, so i can't help on the jetting.....you know, tell you wether or not you are too lean. double check for air leaks around the boss intake, like others have stated. i've read on here, that they have air leaks? maybe crank seal?
  4. valin, i don't know if you will be able to get away w/91 octane, on 65mm bore, 21cc domes, and +4 timing, as i believe i was getting a little deto w/93, 65mm bore, and 21.5cc (or so) domes. you have TSR?
  5. there should be a raised "ring", that's stamped/punched in the head gasket, that goes around the cylinder bore....that faces up.
  6. i'm coming up w/196.8* duration, w/your exhaust port deck to roof dimensions and assuming a .017" deck height.
  7. correct.....i was assuming he had OEM port specs, before i seen that in his signature he has a drag port, so raising the ports an additional .020" or so would more than likely be a bad idea. nitrocircus, you're best bet is to just machine the head/domes, to get the squish clearance correct. of course you'll increase the cc volume of your head some.
  8. try vitos, otherwise just stack up 1 more base gasket. you could also increase the squish clearance by machining the head.
  9. no problem....glad you found the issue.
  10. i believe you need to get a whole new or used crankcase, as the cases are line bored i believe. not a good idea to use the top half of "X-guys" crankcase, w/the bottom half of "Y-guys" crankcase. someone, please correct me if i'm wrong.
  11. you can mod the stock timing plate, to get +4 timing, or you can order one from rickey stator, or find one on ebay. here's the link to modding the stock timing plate...its like 7/8 of the way down the page.....question #56 to be exact. http://bansheehq.com/index.php?option=com_...2&Itemid=28
  12. huh, that's weird. would you be able to post up a pic of that? i'd really like to see that. i didn't see that on those ebay cylinders.
  13. my buddies shee used to break up on top end and it turned out to be the coil. do you have a buddy that could borrow you a coil for testing?
  14. i thought vitos has some too.......X2 on getting the squish down to at least .050".
  15. snope, are you working on some cylinders that were suppose to have been ported by vitos? if so, is there work looking like $hit or something? i haven't personally seen vitos work, but i have seen some pics of some cylinders on ebay once, that were suppose to have been ported by vitos, and it didn't look jaw dropping good. hope that helps.
  16. looking good valin.....which cylinder carbs did you choose to use off the OEM srx rack? the center and mag i assume? keep us posted how it works out. oh, how does one go about turning the fuel spigots up?
  17. which chambers should come out to just under 21.8cc?? my head that's shaved the .030", or a stock one?
  18. oh no, not 24.3cc after .030" cut. 24.3cc is bone stock head. i don't know what my other head cc's up to, that's cut .030". i have 2 heads, one cut and one not. i should have cc'ed the head, but didn't.
  19. no problem. now, if i have some sled questions in the future, maybe you can help me out then?? 10.9:1 is too safe IMO too. that's why i had to shave off .030".....LOL. also, i forgot to say, that w/OEM head and OEM gaskets, your squish will be .080". i cut .030" off the stock head to get .050" squish. if i remember right, my squish velocity is @ like 29 meters per sec now.
  20. now, i'll have to go out and measure up one of my extra racks of srx/viper carbs and see it they would work. now that i think of it, i think we'll need to run fuel pumps tho, cause our sleds w/these carbs use fuel pumps......huh.
  21. ok, stock "2GUY" head.... 15* band angle .042"-.045" step cut 24.3cc volume, w/spark plug TSR says @ 6.5:1 ratio (which yamaha claims is what a stock banshee is) is a 10.9:1 full stroke ratio don't know off hand what the center to center is of the intake boots. i've always thought myself of choping up a rack of srx carbs and bolting them on. sounds like you got the idea that i was thinking last year......LOL.
  22. valin, i'll go out to the shop and cc up that head for you. then i'll hop onto my TSR and see what the full stroke comp is. i do know that yamaha says the OEM trapped comp ratio is 6.6:1. oh, what year is the shee you're getting? glad the cookie deleting worked for you.
  23. the trapped comp ratio or full stroke comp ratio, w/the 21's? also, i seen your thread about not being able to view others posts, and i had the same problem. i just needed to delete the cookies, then restart the computer and BINGO!
  24. i believe the stock shee radiator cap is a 13psi. get rid of the 22psi cap.
