what size haulers to get for hillshooting
rubberneck replied to blanco25's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
How long is your swing arm? I have 22/11/8 9 paddle ultralites, and only a +2 arm. They hook really well, probably a little too well. Cant keep the front end down on launch, even if on top of the bars. But for the riding i do, i like them. Probably with a longer arm they would be perfect for dragging on my bike. I got them from DaveI and i believe he said he used them with a +4 arm. -
Ooofff!

I cant say how enough about how happy I am with my set up. 4mil cub, timing +4. Shearer smallbores, 39PWK's My compression tested out a bit on the high side at 190, but i dont plan on changing it. Great so far for duning. I also geared my bike pretty low at 13/41 with 72 RO 9 paddle ultralites, and it works great for general riding. the low gearing allows me to handle the tight stuff and still be able to keep it up on the pipe, and if I want to go fast just start grabbing gears. I have +2+1 A-ARMS, works shocks, +2 roundhouse swingarm, +4 durablue axle and it handles great. I also just installed some yfz450 front calipers and that is an excellent upgrade.

Front Brake setup and hubs

If the payment does not come through on the master and lever, let me know, i got dibs. -
Preaching to the choir brother. I didn't say it was right, but unfortunately probably a reality. I think it will fetch more than 10k but not 20k. There was a sick HS customs bike on PS not too long ago and the guy finally gave up i believe when nobody was biting at 14k. Sucks big fat bizzals, but i guess that is the reality of a shitty economy.

That bike is absolutely sick. I love it. Sadly though, I dont think he will ever get that much for it. There were some sick bikes of similar pedigree on PS for about 12-14 k that weren't selling.

Viagra was actually an accident. Sildenafil (the real generic name for viagra) was being developed as a blood pressure med. During the trials, they realized it wasn't all that great for blood pressure, but one of the side effects noted by test subjects was hard-ons.

The straight cuts are available in 2 ratios. Stock I believe and a higher ratio that will give you a taller final drive. That is the set you want for the asphalt that will let you drop down on the front sprocket.

Before you lean it out, do a proper plug chop. That is the only way to know exactly what the mains are doing. If it is lean, it can make it break up also. Spend the 4 bucks for a set of plugs and chop em. Better to be safe than sorry.

engine colant leak, need some help
rubberneck replied to Toomey Banshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
This is what first popped into my head. There is an aluminum tube that goes through the side of the case and connects to a rubber hose that runs to the head, inspect all that really well. Also, there are rubber plugs in the bottom of the stock jugs that can go bad and leak. -
Need to know elevation you are riding at. Also need to know what air filters, pipes and any other motor mods to even get you close.

I put an xr kill switch on the bars and put 2 of these waterproof kill switches from trailtech in the tank cover like bansheeman did. You could mount them anywhere in a 3/8 hole though. I like where rippen put his. May do that if I go to aftermartket plastics. My tank cover is black and you dont even see these unless you look. Digi cam is broken or i would post pics. check these out they are great. Push on / Push off http://www.trailtech.net/040-LS-B.html

Sounds like a great deal to me. That kind of deal on any day is amazing let alone a Sunday. Nothing a few turns of the tap cant fix. Its agood idea to chase all the threads anyway. Makes assembly go real smooth.

Sweet, put together the dates and I will try to get the weekend off. Pretty much any weekend in Sep should work with enough notice.

Ok, so we were out at pismo this past weekend. Was fooling around with the cub motor doing some jetting adjustments. Decided I was going to do a plug chop because the nasty wind we had had all day finally died down. Me and my cousin jumped on our bikes and I only threw on my helmet, despite the fact that i had my flak jacket and knee/shin guards laying in the trailer. Only going to go do a plug chop anyway right? Well ran the new set of plugs, and everything looked pretty good. I looked at my cousin and said hey, weather is sweet lets go for a little ride. Well about five minutes later, I was doing a "side hill" across the face of a dune. I dont know how to describe it but basically the bike is pointed uphill, and you are just giving it enough throttle to sort of powerslide across the face of the dune. Its just kind of fun. Well, I hooked a rear tire on a hard spot of sand and flopped the bike over on my self. Didn't really hurt untill the paddle drove across my chest. (remember that flak jacket) :shoothead: Oh yeah, did I forget to mention, i didn't hook the tether kill to my self, so when i came off the bike it didn't kill it. Hence the reason the paddle gave me a good ass kicking. No biggie, nothing really hurt but my pride, so i jump back on fire her up and off we go. By this time the sun was starting to go down so it was getting a bit difficult to read the dunes at certain angles. Well I came bombing over a dune and made a run for the bottom. Problem is the bottom was a lot steeper than it looked. I kind of realized it at the last second and jumped on the brakes hard. (thank god i put those yfz450 calipers on) Too late though, plowed into the bottom of the dune and bottomed the front out hard. Didn't come off the bike, but bashed my shin hard into my new billet stator cover. (remember those shin guards) :wallbash: Lesson learned, I bought all this shit for a reason. Im not getting on the damn thing anymore without all of it on. 4 days later and my shin still looks ugly. Still had a kick ass time though

Ok, so I love my 421 for everything but the fuel mileage. I dont really care so much about buying it, its just that it really limits my range especially when everybody else i ride with is on 4 strokes. I just cant bring my self to put on a bigger tank, just cant stand the way they look. Plus not everywhere i ride really needs the capacity. So my idea is to get a 6 pack rack big enough to hold a gallon or so gas can. That will give me another 25% in range. I just dont want one of the flimsy garbage ones that is going to fold up on me. What good quality racks do you recomend??. Looks would be secondary to strenght and fit at this point. I will only have it on the bike when riding at the spots that need the increased capacity. Thanks.

I dont run the VP because the only place to me close is the local stealer and they get an arm and a leg for it. I have been running Sunoco 110 just paid 7.40/gallon.

Matt Shearer finally got off his ass!?!?
rubberneck replied to Bansh-eman's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Damn it man. Just got done cleaning up the bike from this weekend and realized that after all the riding the left pipe moved some more. PUt a big ole nasty mark on the side of my fast head and wore through the paint at the cub cylinder. Havent pulled the pipe to see what it did to the chrome, but im sure it messed it up. I just hope it didnt do worse than that. I put a 3/8 spacer at the front mount, 1/4 inch at the stinger and tweaked the stinger tube a bit to get it to clear the carb cap and cylinder. Going to pull it off tomorrow, and machine some bigger spacers/do some more tweaking. Dang it. -
I dont know who makes ASR's a-arms. Fireball racing makes their swingers though. I know fireball doesn't make the a=arms becuase the owner of fireball told me that. I looked at a set from fireball this weekend on a 450r, and they are nicer than the ASRs. Plus ASR customer service suck big donky dong.

You know what, I like them. I was a bit worried they would be too much with only a 2" arm, and to an extent they are. I cant launch too hard, or its sky high in the front, but thats ok, because i really dont drag too much. I am keeping the gearing really low at 13/41 and i really like the way the bike dunes right now. Thing I like about the tires is i can cruise up to a hill grab a hand full of throttle and it just flat climbs. Would be real hard to get her stuck with those babies on there. Might be better off with some 8 paddles, but im not switching. May end up with a +4 arm and they would probably be ideal. Thanks again. Phil

Just FYI, for those without the tool to pull the bearing retainer. I didn't have one, needed to get the bearing out. Went to the hardware store and found a SAE nut that was slightly larger than the retaining nut in the frame. I just ground down the bottom half of each flat of the nut till it fit in the retainer nut and then used a standard socket on the top half of the nut to back it out. I would take pics, but my damn camera is broken. Worked great and cost me like a buck for the nut.

rekluse auto clutch YFZ aftermarked basket
rubberneck replied to Rune's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
That would be cool on the trails. My buddy has one of those clutches on his honda 450 dirtbike. Pretty cool to be able to lock up the brakes, stop the bike and not even think about the clutch. Nice to be able to crawl through the real tight stuff. Keep us posted, it sounds like a cool idea for the right application. Im sure with the right amount of machine work anything is possible. -
Hey bada450r, it was good to meet you man, thanks for the use of the 13/16 wrench. Hope you were feeling ok after your spill sat morning. I ended up nose divning the bottom of a dune sat afternoon and was pretty damn sore the rest of the weekend. Sorry I didn't get out to meet everyone else, the group i was with was being sticks in the mud and didn't want to hang out at the strip, plus I was a sore mo-fo. talk to you guys later. phil
