between 90. 93 octane will be fine they will run on 87 i did in mine whenit was stock i ran it for about 2 months before i relized the sticker by the tank that says high octane only lol

you probably should tear it right down. if he blew a hole in the piston it was running to hot / lean. aperentally if a bike is jetted perfect you can hold them to the bar for along time. i still wouldnt hold it for any longer then 20 or 30 seconds. take a look at rippens hill climbing videos at walden him and his buddies got there bike pegged for quit some time. im thinking it was jetted to lean.

things happen in three. as the old saying goes. that sucks man sorry to hear. is the boy OK? he will be a ladies man now. he will be able to tell all them about if war wounds lol

Can't figure out if they make different versions
yamaha04 replied to KaosBanshee44's topic in Product Reviews
i cant remember what mine looks like but that pic may not be the actual one for the banshee it could be like a yfz one and hes just using it to sell them. iv been stuck like that before i see something and the description is right but the pic is off. -
when i had my bike stock i tryed to ee what it would ride like with the airbox lid off. i could ride in 1st and 2nd but couldnt get into 3rd because it wasnt jetted for the extra air. keep the carbs you had before just switch out the top piece that has the idle screw. then check all your tors wires then check and see if your carbs are going up at the same speed and are going all the way up and are coming all the way down. then put your airbox lid back on if it runs good your jetting is lean and you need a bigger main and maybe move your needle up a clip.

I'm not sure abut the front spindles but for the rear axle get a piece of hard wood and hold it against the end of the axle and hammer on that with a Minny sleghammer they get rusted in place sometimes. the shift star is easy take your clutch cover off. take your clutch basket off and pull your shifting mechanism out then the star will be sitting right there all you have to do is take the center screw out and put the new one back on and reassemble.

again when he first joined he couldn't spell at all but and i would get so frustrated trying to read his post and understand what he was trying to say. back then it was his grammar as well as the spelling was bad so it was very hard to understand. but he has gotten a lot better. I'm 22 and i got help in high school for spelling. what the teacher told me to do was read. read everything i pic up and you should eventual start remembering the words that you read and how to spell them. but the problem was i hated reading and never read a book in my entire life. the trick is you need to find something you like to read like posts on BHQ that's what i started doing. even before BHQ i would go on the net and read anything i could about car bike everything that interested me. so keep up the post reading and maybe try reading a little more on the net somewhere and eventually it will come to ya.

i remember when you first joined and shit man you where very bad. i have the same problem as you except no so bad iv never been good at spelling. anyway your not alone keep working at it and you have improved a lot from when you joined

aftermarket stock port cylinders.
yamaha04 replied to yamaha04's topic in General Banshee Discussion
yah i guess eh i was thinking you could get them sleved aswell. but it would be cool if a company made some aftermarket cylinders for like MX or agressive trail in a 4 mill apllication. -
i was thinking the other day. here in canada we still have the banshee in 08 but im not sure whats going on for 09. im sure yamaha has alot of cylinders kicking around in there warehouses but whats going to happen when they all dry up. i know theres alot of options for cub's and big drag motors but is there any aftermarket companys makeing a simmalar to stock cylinder. or maybe even a cylinder that came ported for a 4 mill, with light porting like a dune or trail port.
-
theres another guy makeing some ones like ESR, they are alittle cheaper. that digital one is kick ass though i might want to get that lol http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...4.cWAT.m240.lVI

you need pipes its a whole new bike with pipes. you should just go and bore a 2 stroke out to the max and call her good. if you blow it up then you just screwed a set of cylinders. and its either time for a resleve or some new cylinders. a set of pipes and rejet and you will spank that grizz. stock pipes are the most ussless no good POS there is. trust us on this one and get some pipes. 4 strokes tipicaly last alot longer thats why people bore them out. with a two stroke its kinda pointless you dont gain much more power and if you clog a jet or something and it runs lean your @#$%ed. you just blew her up. just like above said more air in more air out. if you try and port it yoursef your going to be putting moreair in but still useing stock pipes so your not getting any more air out then before. might even make your motor run worse. pipes, reeds, rejet and its a whole different bike. not many bikes can keep up with a good tuned piped banshee.

yamaha04 replied to WinchedWolvy's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
yeah seems to be a pretty good place. if i every forget how something goes back together i head there lol -
yeah i noticed they had them i only need the one side but it looks like for the 2004 one that go with the white platics and the metalic red frame you have to buy both lol shitty. all the other years are like 5$ each lol
-
thanks anyway jeff. yeah ot started makeing the nosie after the first 3 hours i had my motor back together. then everytime aftet that when i started it, the sound whats there right away. i was always nervious about the sound so i checked my compression all the time, the compression stayed up all season. but the noise got louder as the season went one. but the performace of the bike was aways the same aswell it never ran like shit. accualy i ran good beating pretty much everything i raced other then the ported bikes. if its my crank bearings can i check them by just turning them and listening and felling if the spin freely. or can i use some feeler guages some how?. when i get my cyilnders back what should the ring gap be?
