Banshees eating up rear sprockets
2strokespirit replied to rubberneck's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Get primary drive sprockets, if I understand correct, both has the same sprockets on?? I would say its the sprockets, but it doesn't make sense.. even the cheapest sprockets will last longer than a weak with almost no wear, unless they were made of plastic. The fact is, even if the alignment were off, it would have last longer... -
T-REX cylinder head studs pulled out!
2strokespirit replied to scotties_banshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
You have to get an insert, I hate helicoils, they do work ok, but the inserts is for sure easier and stronger. Insert is a small sleeve with thread inside and outside and you do get thin wall inserts, try contact Wurth, they sell kits. Wurth Time sert kit -
Wiseco and Hotrods are both made in Taiwan, but they have been used for years now in the banshees and other bike as a replacement crank or stroker. They are good and can handle pretty much anything you throw at it if, its trued and welded, go for them.

I am a Engine Builder in South Africa. I do everything myself, Except, PASSION helps me out with the porting specs. I port them myself with the info I get from him, he has been good to me, answering my questions and giving advice if I need a second opinion. So my vote goes to PASSION. Thanks Jim..

Bought new all balls crank bearings...
2strokespirit replied to Bansheeb0y5505's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Use BOTH clips on both sides, I would strongly Advice you too. The clips PREVENT the crank from moving sideways, the nipple only prevents the bearing OUTER from spinning in the cases.. -
Buddy's stock yfz 450 vs banshee
2strokespirit replied to kmac91's topic in General Banshee Discussion
To get used to the 2-strokes power band, keeping the bike "on" the pipe, some just cant do it, I know of people who are totally useless with 2-strokes. Some people has a feeling for a motor, AND FOR sure, for the average rider a 4-strokes are much easier to adopt and getting use to. I like the LTRs, I'll give them credit for the excellent power/handling combination, they are fast. BUT if you throw serious money into the 350 twin and the same into the 4-stroke, you will be crying on your buddies shoulder, "why can't I just beat that banshee 1 time", All the time... (in a drag or pavement race) BUT I like the LTRs, they are awesome, no jokes.. -
Bought new all balls crank bearings...
2strokespirit replied to Bansheeb0y5505's topic in General Banshee Discussion
You CANNOT run the crank without the clips, it will result in major damage, the crank will move under load and mess the cases up!! I just got a 4mm Hotrods with tho o'rings on the side, removed them and use the clips, the o'rings are just there to prevent the bearings from spinning in the cases in worst case, I put 2 drops of retaining compound on all bearing if the cases is a bit worn, it definately not to stabilize the bearing, the cases keeps it in place of cause. -
Sounds to me like a typical Banshee, not much bottom-end. Is this the first time you had a banshee?

Its typical Africa... We ride were ever we can, the Cross Country Races are very nice to ride, don't really have good photos of certain spots..
-
Yes it can, but I think you were save on .032", not ideal though.

Get some treebond 1215 or 1211, I our country Yamaha sells the treebond 1115 with a partnumber, so you can get it from Yamaha. I apply only a thin layer on one half, and just put the cases together.

Those where the days.... Wouldn't it just be easier if we all love 4-strokes...

Are you sure the unit are grounded properly? Are your + wire connected to the wiring harness? I have never have problems with mine... at least not in the first year. I am on my 3rd one. lol They have lots of issues.

In winter times or when the bike is cold and the oil thick, when you put it in gear its normal, just warm up the bike good and hold the clutch for a few seconds before putting into first gear. It could be that the clutch needs adjusting also..

Hi HQ My coil failed, so I was thinking to pay the extra cash for a Nology Coil, I know there was a thread like this 2 months ago, but are there more guys that use them? Are you happy with them? Are they reliable? Thanks

What will it take to beat a 700 Raptor?
2strokespirit replied to poorboy's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I have a 2006 banshee with just K&N filter pro circuits, and v force 3s. I don't want to sound like I am blowing my own whistle but I can ride, on a hard surface I have beat 700 raptors that is piped, but its very close, I weigh about 220lbs and that guy is a good rider too, we raced e few times on a 1/4mile to check top speed as well, my gearing was 14 - 39 with 20s. The banshee was faster as well... -
Looks very very nice, let us know how is the bump steer??

importing secondhand banshees from USA

Try some UK shipping companies, they will do it, I know most of the companies do not want to ship things with engines these days, I knew of more than one company in the Uk that had said yes to me, search online with google or try contact www.1stcontact.com -
How much do you think SHEE's worth?
2strokespirit replied to MarineNYC's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Ain't that the truth... -
I posted a pic of a crankshaft which I thought was a 4mm longrod it turned out to be a 7mm longrod. I wanted to send it back, after some thinking and doing some homework I contacted a big builder in the states to clear things out, I want a reliable 7mm RZ which can be used for what ever I want to do with it, I do not want as much HP as I can get out of the motor, just want a nice reliable 7mm RZ that rips.. So I am going to built it, already got the coolhead from pro design with the domes, pistons, bearings, crank. The builder, which I will mention if the built is finished, will be designing the motor according to my type of riding and I will do the porting according to the info I get from him. This motor will be linked to a Zeeltronic programmable CDI and power valve controller. On Friday I was still going to built a 4mm, but I think its time for a 7mm RZ, cant wait to feel the torque.... I will keep everyone updated on the project...

What is your dream banshee engine...
2strokespirit replied to 2strokespirit's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I have to be so honest, I just want ALL of them.... damn, cant decide! I am sitting here with a 7mm stroker crank brand new that I bought for almost nothing and wanne to throw that in the RZ, but there is a lot of work involve, has anyone done a 7mm RZ or stock cylinder 7mm all rounder? -
Some of us already have our dream bikes, some not, I am still in the process of making up my mind what I should built, in the end I will end up with both a RZ 4mil and a Cheetah cub 4mm. My dream banshee motor would be a 4mm RZ with match porting and cut domes with the Zeeltronic programmable YPVS controller and CDI... so lets hear what some of you guys would like to have under the gas tank..
