My project-yfz450/banshee love child. Opinion?
2strokespirit replied to bobilly's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Hey guys, I am on a YFZ450 rolling chassis now, trying to get it for a good price, this guy has 2, a 2004 and 2005 model. I am going to put a 4mm long rod RZ in it IF I can get a chassis for a good price. At the moment the guy wants way to much. Hopefully all will work out.. -
Sorry missed understand you, I thought you were saying that the Resister plugs are the B8ES..
-
You mean BR8ES..

Can you take a pic of this? Its kind of a interesting topic for me, something does not make sense.. -
Like said I am on my 3rd one, mine had the same problem, they sent me a new computer and it was all over. I had it for 2 years now, had a lot of issues with it but its fixed now, my internal batt just lasted a year. Make sure you connect the power wire After the regulator and everything is sorted and yes, run "R" spark plugs

My experience. The KFX450 will NOT beat a LTR in a drag race, they are probably the slowest of the bunch. The YFZ450 is a strong runner, the oldest of the bunch but probably the quickest out of the mark..

Guessing about 65HP if everything is setup properly.

1 Pipes & K&n filter 2 V force 3 reeds 3 Porting + cool head with the choice of domes (call a builder for dome size) + stroker crank 4 Carbs 5 suspension (front) 6 Suspension rear 7 boost bottle :yelrotflmao: ... just joking oh yeah and when your money dry up and you think its enough, then... 9 4mil cub 10 bigger carbs again happy for a few months 11 sell 4mm setup on ebay 12 10mm cub 14 bigger carbs for 10mm cub 15... 16... 100... 101... everyone on here will have their own opinion. But thats the nice thing about banshees... or maybe not so nice thing :yelrotflmao:

I am not bragging but I think I am n good rider, I've got pro circuits, v force 3 and K&N on my bike with 4 degrees timing advance, My friens has an LTR with cherry bomb, full system and DMC TFI, we run next to each ohter, the YFZ also, right next to me, you won't be beating them with bolt ons. Get a port job with the bigger carbs, game over...
-
Good job, I supposed you've split the cases to clean it out. If there is the smallest bit of piston remains in there, your crank bearings will be toast in the first few minutes of riding.. Good luck!!!
-
Yes you can, but its a waste of money.... getting the point? Its not the real thing...
-
Sounds good, but I would keep the wiseco pistons ..

I know its not a banshee, but thought I share it, it has banshee blood in her veins.. Here is one of the bikes. That was a frame sitting in my garage fro 4 years and got its second life. She runs hard, but those drum brakes is not up to the task for stopping her, I knew that was about the only thing that set me back, but I only use this bike to drive to the farms around me. I am going to fit CR250 Front forks with disk brake and clamps soon for better front suspension and front brakes, it will help allot. The rear suspension is quit good and hard enough, the front is way to soft, I had a CR500, still in the family and a 2000 KX500, this bike runs next to them... shes fast trust me.. and I like her on the gravel roads...

HI there HQ I've read all the RZ topics on here, I love the RZ motors and know them well, I've built them in go karts and dual purpose bikes, thats how much I love them. Although I know them well, I have no clue how its going to run in my banshee. I am building a 4mm longrod RZ for my banshee with Pwks, programmable CDI, pro design head and Programmable powervalve controller and cdi. Passion helps me out with the porting specs and dome design. I am building a woods/trail motor a good all rounder. The RZ already has good bottom end power because of the YPVS, have no clue how its going to be with the added 4mm. The power valve controller can be programmed so you can program it at what rpm range it should open and how much degrees!!! The hand held computer is used to program both the cdi and YPVS, a lot of you guys know this, but I thought I just mention it again. I am waiting for the last bits to arrive from the states and then I will be putting to whole thing together. I will be running a battery, BANSHEE stator, not the RZ stator, wired a regulator/rectifier into the loom, this is all real easy, I don't know why some said there is a lot of wiring issues. Oh, just for the interesting bit, a all stock banshee is about 36-37hp a all stock RZ (31k) is 58hp and the (1UA) is 61hp. I will keep your guys updated and make a video if everything is together. My next project after this one is a 4mm RZ YFZ chassis quad with LT suspension!!! I thought I just share a bit to the guys that are thinking of building a RZ.. If anyone wants to share how their RZ run, post it up...

I have seen broken spindles on stock banshees, the forces on the spindles is not so much more by adding a spacer, or flipping a rim. Guys that jumps a lot, after a few years because of metal fatigue the spindles broke, with or without spacers, YES the spacer will probably make the fatigue happen faster over a certain period, but nothing to worry about, some broke earlier without spacers, I don't like spacers, but had used them for years. Point is, after a few years if you are a MX guy the spindles may break or will last, even an a-arm may break, look at that guy who broke the laegers arm in 2. Maybe if you don't jump that much it will last longer.... nothing lasts forever.. the ball joints on a stock suspension will last years even with spacers. Flip the wheels, put on the spacers, who knows if tis going to break..

I am with JB, bigger cooling service, helps out a lot on the slower trails, never overheats with the pro design. There is a lot of guys that say if your bike overheats with a stocker, you have other issues or jetting issues, nonsense, you can be jetted spot on, but on the slower trails it will overheat on a very hot day and its there where the oversize rad comes in very handy.. I do some fast cross country in SA and on a hot day in the desert, 50 degrees C it will run very hot (not overheat) on wide open throttle, and the jetting is spot on. With the oversize it just runs cooler for sure...

Banshees eating up rear sprockets
2strokespirit replied to rubberneck's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
You said you never had this problem before? You bought 2 new sprockets for both the bikes. Doesn't this answer your question. Someone here already said the Jt sprockets are junk... Just get 2 primary drive sprockets and see if the problem is solve. -
My opinion is that there is a passage blocked in one of the carbs, I know the carbs are just 2 years old, but it also sounds like a weared needle jet and jet needle.
-
Well, i found out about this after 5months that i bought my bike, the dealer said they get that now and then, thats why I went out and measured another bike. Another dude told me its common with banshees, thats why i just leave it like it is, I am pretty convince that the problem is with the manifacturing of the swingarm. I am going to fabricate my own with the roundhouse offset bearing carrier, to get the problem fixed.
-
Well this is very interesting, I have a 2006 that i bought new, has the same problem, i bought it new, never crashed it. I now have HD a-arms and gforce axle, still the same, i went out and measure another one, the same thing, i am glad i am not the only 1. I don't like it though. With the left about an inch shorter on the left side (rear) when the right almost inline with the front, was almost the same with the stock components, but now i have aftermarket axle which is adjustable, does not matter how i adjust it, the left is always almost an inch off, like said, same thing with the stock suspension and this is still almost a brand new bike. Is the distance between your front en rear wheels on the left and right the same? I have noticed that the swingarm brackets that holds the bearing carries are not very straight on differant banshees, mine looks 'bent', if i view the bike from underneath, but still not so much to score an inch. I think its because of mass production, but then yfzs should be like that also.
