  1. Excitement got the best of me so no preliminary checks. I am hoping it is just the seal (even though it is brand new). It would suck to have to crack the case again just to reseal it. I always refer sides as I sit on the bike (something I picked up from working on cars) clutch side is right side and stator side is left side. I'll take a pic of the smoke in a little bit.
  2. Sorry bud but you have after market reeds. I don't run any reed stops on my reeds. It looks like you have FMF Torque reeds. PN-327-010105
  3. the left side is barely smoking and the right side is puffing bad. I am going to test all of it tomorrow.
  4. I just wear a glove and zip it down. Don't hammer down on it too much because you might have to get it off later on down the road.
  5. I had the engine out of my Banshee because the case was broken. I got the case welded so thats all taken care of. While the case was spit I installed a 4mm stroker crank and also added a Trinity Stage IV head. So I got the engine back together today and installed and decided to take it for a ride. I go around the block and pull back into my driveway and notice a nice trail of smoke behind me. So now I have to determine if the case didn't seal or if I blew the crank seal out. This sucks!!!
  6. my old boss use to take the paper gaskets and soak them in water then install them while they are wet. it makes them seal great but harder to remove when time comes. It will basically glue them self to both surfaces.
  7. The carb switches are stupid. It will keep it from starting in fear of over revving. The parking brake will keep you from revving but will idle.
  8. You can go with a "woods" port job and a cool head with 20cc domes and that will boost your power alot! Suspension will be more difficult. You do trail riding as well as dune. you will have to find a happy medium there.
  9. Do you still have the T.O.R.S. set up on your bike? If so unplug the black box next to the coil on the left side of your bike. One other thing your bike wont start if one of the carbs is stuck so make sure they both move freely.
  10. Damn! I would almost feel bad for recommending him. He might need some sleep after pulling all them hours. But then again he has to pay his phone bill somehow after returning all the calls.
  11. Do you have the choke tube on? Did you have both the carbs apart at the same time? the bowls are different. How about fuel in the tank? Stupid question but sometimes you over look that. Please don't think I am calling you dumb because I'm not. Good luck.
  12. Sorry for the hijack but do you have any more pics of your bike???
  13. i agree. Even though it says reserve doesn't mean there is fuel to be used. there are 2 tubes on the top of the petcock and they are different lengths. they also have filters over each tube. I ended up taking the filters off the petcock and installed an inline filter. that way i can see fuel in the filter and I can see when it needs to be changed.
  14. With my engine I always ran 94. It just ran great on it so that is what I have stuck with. My Brothers 400EX says run Premium gas only. I recently went on a 40 mile ride and did some hill races on a single tank of fuel.
  15. has anyone ever looked into Eddie Sanders? http://www.esr250.com/banshee.htm#powervalve
  16. WOW! with 270 jets my bike would over heat and ping like a SOB. You might be baking those plugs right out of your bike. When my bike was running lean I went through plugs left and right.
  17. I agree with the timing plate. You can shave (mill) the head for cheap and it will give you more power. A good set of reeds. Have the T.O.R.S. been removed?
  18. I have had a set of B8ES in my bike for almost a year and have not had a problem yet. I think you need to look at your fuel mixture. How about your oil mixture... How is your spark?
  19. take and place jack stands under your lower ball joints. This way you unload the ball joints so you can do a shake down on the front end. Also check your front rims and tires to see if you trashed one of those.
  20. I am running Sand Geckos and have had no problems. I havent done any major dune riding yet but plan on it in the fall.
  21. Well for the stock jugs they make pistons that are .100 over bore. that is the largest I have seen. Then there is a big bore kit in sizes including 392, 421, 443 and 465. They dont stop there. it is all in your riding style and experience. A brand new off the show room floor banshee has crap for suspension. If you are just looking for more power than look into pipes, cool head, timing plate and maybe a port job.
  22. you want a little play on the shaft. if you don't that means you have a constant load on the shaft and ball which can weld the shaft to the ball.
  23. the more timing you add the less low end you get.
  24. A lot of engine builders are assholes because they are so busy they don't have time to talk to customers and all the customers call and want to talk to them which makes them further behind. I've been there.
  25. The bolts on the timing plate were tight. I had a hell of a time getting them off. I have only had the flywheel off one other time and I am using the correct puller. It is now time to call them up and complain.
