  1. yep, gotta be the boost bottle !!
  2. did you put the slides back in the correct carb (left/right) ?
  3. you gotta check to see if youre getting any spark. pull one plug connect it to the wire hold the ground to a head stud/nut and start it as you would normally. if there is no spark you gotta look at the electrical stuff if there is spark problem probly with carbs.
  4. the porting is done to the cylinders, not the head. the only valves in that motor are the reeds right in front of the carbs. there are a lot of guys that say they can port cylinders in most local cities. truth is there are a few really good builders. they are all on here. i would only let the guys i find on here do my porting. their work is tested by BHQ members and proven to be really good. FAST, Passion, and Herr, are the big names that come to mind, but there are others. just do a search on porting their names will come up.......call them and see who you like.
  5. dave, just wondering what info you can get from knowing the squish and the squish band. for example : my 4mil is 150 comp. the squish is .040 and the band is .200 (the cut there is a little tapered but that info is pretty close). i run about 103 octane race fuel. what does that mean as to how i should set the timing etc....... keeping in mind that i can run higher octane if needed. oh yeah, these are stock cylinders not cubs. i assume that those measurements tell you the same things regardless of which cylinders you are running, true ? Sorry sheerider, dont mean to hijack the post just figured this is a good thread to get more info.
  6. most people don't get all they can out of the stock carbs. i had stockers on my last motor and it ran really well. i wouldn't waste the money on carbs till you are ready for some badass porting. if you got the $$ to burn, get the reeds like loco said, it will make a diff. and get sum better paddles like dave said. maybe look into suspension mods to hook it up and handle better.
  7. people say that the twist is dangerous and too hard to handle in the whoops. have you ever seen a dirtbike with a thumb throttle ? hell no ! personally, i like both types (like SandRage). when my son was just learning to ride i made sure he had a thumb throttle, but now that he is better with throttle control he has even switched to twist. also my pwks are too damn stiff for thumb throttle !!! my thumb almost fell off after a couple hours riding. LOL i had to switch.
  8. damn man, thats a sweet lookin bike. awesome looking show as well.
  9. LOLOLOL hey, i love my banshee too. i was just sayin in all reality................
  10. Greg, there should be a grainger very close to you locally. if not just look up industrial supply companies in SD. one is sure to have what youre looking for BTW, sorry for that terrible loss SD surffered tonight..............
  11. the banshee is a ricer. isn't it ??
  12. :yelrotflmao: smartass
  13. i have heard over and over that the toomey pipes are better.......... i dont know for sure, but, i had a set of fmf gold series fatties on a ported motor with stock carbs (tors removed) and i really liked the way it sounded and ran. you would be hard pressed to get me to believe that the toomeys are that much better. if they are, i dont believe you'd be able to notice the difference in the seat. i think it is more of a preference (ford, chevy, dodge) thing. just my .02 .
  14. vf3s
  15. you need to give more info. where you are ? elev. ? temp. ? any porting ? check gear oil with dipstick threaded in.
  16. too bad not v drive, but very nice lookin boat anyway. sure youll have lots of friends w/tits durng the summer time.lol  lets here it for titties
  17. all i know is the kawi would top out, and the honda still had a little left. but like i said, till then they were pretty much neck and neck.
  18. jet drive.. or.. v drive ?
  19. shit. you guys are lucky. i usually send one........not receive one.
  20. bump for a good deal on a nice looking coolhead.
  21. i have a nice set with virgin ports, .040 over. can still see the crosshatch from the last hone. $150 plus the ride.
  22. i owned a 1985 tecate three wheeler. it was fast, no doubt, but i think people overrate them. it would keep up with the 250R three wheeler, but barely. it only had 5 gears to the 6 in the 250R, so on the top end the 250R had the edge. it would whip the 250R fourtrax with no effort at all tho. prolly beat a stock banshee as well (never raced one with it). but, put that engine in a four wheeler and it's not that impressive. and yes ! it did break down often. i put in a couple of stators and a coil in the 2 years i owned it.
  23. i've got a set of Sandstars mounted on Douglas blue label wheels. size 20x11x10. they have a couple seasons on them. ridden in sand only. really good shape. let me know if interested.
  24. you said you like to ride fire roads with stream crossings. for that you will need to keep the air box. you can get a modified lid with an Outerwears pre-filter in the top. you would still be ok to ride in most streams. the biggest thing will be keeping the stock box sealed at the carbs. it is a bitch, but a must. i have a friend that ran a 2 into 1 intake and carb. he hated it and went back to dual carbs. he runs 28mm PWK carbs now and he really likes it. he also has T5 pipes and mild porting. that bike runs pretty strong. you keep saying you want to beat all your friends bikes. what are they riding ? are they all stock, or are they modded bikes ?
