  1. are you asking if you would be able to carry a set amount of fuel strapped to the bike and go 155 miles? there is no way, a 2 stroke is not by any means a fuel economically designed motor. Are there rules that you have to carry the fuel your self and can not have a team setup ahead of you at specific locations that can refuel you? There have been many guys run a baja 1000 in the past on banshee;s. they can withstand the constant riding as long as they are built well and get proper cooling. The biggest factor is fuel.
  2. yup i have heard of alot of guys that run big cars that do it, i have only heard of a very small amount of guys doing it to bikes though. It truley does strengthen the parts, but I believe they have to be brand new or they wont treat them? I might be thinking of a differant method though.
  3. they are very ez to split, remove the jugs, remove the stator and clutch cover, pull the clutch and all the hardware, remove the flywheels and stator and unscrew the screws on the top of the case and fill the halfs over and remove the nuts on the bottom, use a rubber mallet to wack the cases and they should come apart. Do your self a favor and buy a clymers manuel, they are worth thier weight in gold for someone trying to learn how to do it them selfs
  4. what rear shock was on the bike at the time? was it valved and sprung for the swinger and the rider weight?
  5. i am on a gov computer right now so i cant tell if the picts post or not, i am using the links that are in my pm so let me know if they showup or not.
  6. your lever should be turned all the way in, that way as your clutch plates wear and your cable stretches you can adjust it at the lever. It works with the stocker because the length of the set screw probly. trust me i run the exact same pancake, the cascade is made by packard racing. it works, you just didnt have it adjusted right, even though the arrows said it was
  7. ideal is 40, your fine with what u got
  8. you can not always relay on the arrows to mean your clutch is properly adjusted. the arrows are nothing more then a guide. on my motor i disregard the arrows all together. I leave the springs and screws all the way of the clutch and hold the pressure plate by hand. turn the pancake screw until i feel it hit the rod/ball and then back it off 1/4 turn and bolt everything back up. if i were to go by my arrows my clutch would fall apart
  9. npoe thats right, it should have come with two washers, one goes on each side of the bearing and then it slides through the pressure plate like u have it.
  10. just drain it out and let it sit with the plug out for a few hours, then pour atf type f in there. it will be fine. I used to use Gearsaver 80W and swtched to atf and havet had any probs because if it
  11. i assume you mean staor and pickup? Banshee's dont untilize a crank sensor
  12. Twister makes good products. For the most part all of these guys making billet intakes are all indentical
  13. i have heard of the pipes being broke tha way but not ripping the flange off the motor with it.
  14. yea that rubber gasket is too thick, if you tighten the piss out of the screws it warps the gaskets and allows it to leak.. Make sure you put a little loctite on the screws so they dont fall out
  15. So was your buddy killed? Per the article it sounded like he was just injured and sent to the hospital? Either way, it still sucks
  16. it's pretty common that they leak, come to think of it, i dont recall ever seeing one that didnt leak. Someone was saying they had good luck with the liquid thread sealer, but it sounds like yours isnt leaking at the threads? i put my rubber gaskets on and used a small bead of yamabond on both sides to seal it ... you can try that
  17. i like camping the washes down by the railroad track. Gecko is too far from all the drag racing and the good dunes. You have to go to like wash 15 and farther to get away from the huge crowds and to get away from all the dust. At night washes 1-13 are really bad with all the dust kicked up throughout the day settleing in your camp!
  18. Unless you like paying 150 a night or more your drive to a "reasonable" motel is going to be around 45 mins from the dunes. And trust me it isnt by any means nice, it is a total shit whole with a bed thats 80 bucks a night. Anyone that says that it's not worth camping out there is high, you just have to know where to camp to saty out of the crowds and get out of the dust.
  19. Oh I got that Dave. I was simply pointing out that you can get a good idea more then one way I don
  20. yup u sure can
  21. Although it is by no means an exact sience, yo can measure the deck hieght( amount the piston sticks out of the cylinder, and then use a mic and measure the edge of the band to the inside of the dome and this will be right around your squish. so if your deck height is 12 tho and your domes band is 30 tho, your squish will be around 42 tho. plus or minus the human error factor. Or just do it the ez way like you have been and bend the wire over and turn the motor over. I use wire thats only 60 thou thick when i tested mine, and the numbers i got measureing the deck hieght and the band came out the be the exact same as the wire.
  22. you can run a spacer plate to raise the ports back up, and it will run, it just wont run like a raped ape until you get it ported for the stroke.
  23. you are a pretty good ways out. you need to tighten it up. What thickness base gaskets did you put on there? You can either drop the base gaskets thickness, or cut some domes.
  24. you need to adjust the clutch at the pressure plate adjuster if its that far out. drain the oil, pull the clutch cover and its in the center of the pressure plate. search pancake adjuster and you should find details how to do it. make sure you turn the lever adjuster all the way in before you start, you want to adjust it as much at the clutch as possible
