Fouling plugs? any suggestions
Bansh-eman replied to Fastashell69's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
your carbs probly are not synced... ones opening more then the other... it wouldnt hurt in any way to check out that rusted wire though even it thats not your problem... call jeff at FAST he sells a sync tool thats a must for a banshee owner. are you sure the jetting is th same per side? -
thers alot more to adding a stroker then just the pistons... your going to need pistons to makeup the long rods... your head will need to be cut for the added stroke so you dont smake the head... your port timings will need to be changed.. you can run a spacer plate but your adding an extra place to leak and lean out your motor and blow it up... also with this you should look at reeds and carbs stockers will run it but not very good on top... also with bigger carbs comes intakes... and you should look at pipes or your choking the motor down.. not to forget a loger swinger to help control the new motor...and a stronger clucth to hold the new power... theres alot more to it then just adding a few parts and calling it good.

if you got the extra money try getting your self a stainless steel bolt set and have the screws replaced with hex heads... saves time money and alot less headaches in the future! then againb if not you can always replace just the screws and leave all the others just wont match is all -
that only makes up half your power... you need both to complement one another... you open one more then the other and its only going to work as good as the weakest link

i havent heard of anyone doing it but doesnt mean its not worth it... just havent heard it in my experiance.

i can not agree more... a clymers is a banshee owners bible... its a must if you plan on keeping ths thing moving on your own! -
you dont want to use a stock basket becasue when the lock "opens" it will break the weak metal that the stock baskets are constructed of... you can get a billet basket from many places.... they are much more then a stocker but should last you forever... as far as casuing any problems with other componants.. i havent heard of any problems from a lockup other then haveing 100% of your motors power go to your wheels  to be honest unless your pushing alot of hp your by no way in "need" of a lockup.. yea they are nice to have but a good clutch with hd springs will be more then enough in 90% of the cases.

the differance between a cold motor versus a hot will be only a few lbs... 150 is good...

how many turns out are your air screws? your mains sound rich.... they should be like a brown paper bag after ridig for a while... -
it doesnt really matter what your comprssion is... as long as its not low... when its low it means your do for a rebuild... but adding compression when its not needed.. like in a relitivley stock or partialy modified motor is nothing but a waste... all you do by raiseing your compression on a motor that doesnt need it ,is to force you to run higher octane fuel.... unless your running a pretty heavy modded motor you dont need alot of compression or race gas... so at 150 your motor with what you listed is pretty much deadon... adding un-needed compression is pretty much pointless.

ok so i got it narrowed down some... i need the solid yellow (high beams)and the solid blue (tail light) on one side of the switch.... then the other is the yellow with red stripe ( power wire ) i cut the green being its lowbeam and i dont need it... now i got 2 questions... i got a black wire for ground... im assuming i dont need it? also the yellow with red stripe at the end splices and adds a sloid red wire... anyone know what that ones for?

not necissarly, only way to check your jetting is pulling your plugs and reading them... 2 strokes arnt like 4 strokes you cant do your jetting by popping or backfireing... -

ok the throttle control is called tors... (throttle override system) it wouldbe wise to buy a tor removale kit and pull it off.. they casue more problems getting a bike to run then they are worth... are you 100% the gas is getting from the carbs to the motor? how long has the bike been sitting from last time it ran? if its sat a whiole yank your carbs and rip them down and do a FULL cleaning making sure the jets and all the passages are not clogged... make sure your flaots set right and are not dirty... these motors are a wasted spark motors (both plugs fire at the same time) ,you cant really get the timing set wrong you can just advance it to where its dangerouse to run the motor without damaging it.... list every mods and motor work done to the bike and i can give you and estimate on compression... a 100% stock bike should have a kicking pressure of about 120-130 depending how much the morot has been used... -

if you want more compression then yea you need smaller domes... but with your mods 150 isnt bad... why exactly do you want more compression? the gains are minimal versue the money you spend on the gas... right now you can run 50/50 and be perfect and you wont see really any gains by going to stright race gas..
