    Yes, piston pushes on 1 pad, then draws caliper over ( on slide pins) so other pad pinches other side. Ya know just like cars &... trucks.

    Check compression, spark & did you do a leak down? Lights are on a separate winding than the ignition

    How do you know its not plug or spark? Pipe full of gas rats nest in pipe Float adjustment Bad float needle and/ or seat ...

    TORS kills ign. Completely, p. Brake limits the rpms ( very low) but idles fine. Fyi

    What does it do above an idle? P- brake rev limiter?

    I meant on key plug. Should be B/W, B/R, R, Br Those are tied together so it'll start w/o key sw then. connect as said above.

    What year ? You sure the black doesnt have a red stripe <2001 Black on harness goes to B/W on main switch And R/B on harness to B/R on switch B/Y should be TORS & not hooked to black ( but i assume thats all disconnected any ways?)

    Float level ? if its flooding down low ( not using the flooded fuel to lower the level) it'll be way under power down low, then when it clears out ( and uses enough fuel to not overflow anymore) the power will seem more cause it coming off of no power down low? Tip up on end too, to see if there's fuel in the pipes?
