Ebay ported cilinder jugs from Hi-tech Horsepower
RILS replied to Fre530d's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I would not spend that kind of cash on a set of basically used set of ported oem cylinders.Ive not really heard much about the porting by this guy ,but you can take your time and find a set of used cylinders from a known bulider for way less rhan that.Look in the forsale here and at planetsand and ebay and you should beable to pick some up reasonable.I think there a set of trinity bigbore stage 4 cylinders in the forsale section here now for 375 with pistons.Ive seen a set of cylinders set up the same as this and they ran pretty decent but i here trintys porting verys so the one i seen could be a fast set or a slow set but eathier way it did run decent.I hope this helps. -
Why do you say that.I race everyweekend with mostly 4strokes on a track that favors them"short and slick" and have yet to be beat by one yet.Theres oly been two that can run close to me and one was a new suzuki moded 450 and a moded yamaha450.Im just interested why you would say that,im assuming they must be spanking you.
-
Throw that sob away while you have it off.If you dont sink it up in mud or water you will be much happier with the pods. They make everything from rejetting to rebuilding the topend so much easier.
-
I run itp mxr6s and they are super light and hook like a mofo on most terrain "good luck on gravel"but they are really soft and wear pretty quickly.Im proably going to try some kenda claws next time ive heard a lot of people having good luck with them.
-
I would say that your timing will proably be more like +6 with the plate advance and the modified ignition.Im not sure about the wiring. As for your starting problem you could be rich on your jetting.
-
It sounds like it could be a little rich.Put a new set of plugs in it and drop your pilot to a 27.5 and you could come down on your main 1 or 2 sizes and see how they look. You may have done that plug in.I would also check for air leaks but if you cant find one maybe this will help 30 pilots do sound riich to me the main might not be off to bad .I ran 340main 27.5 pilot and 2 turns out on the airscew and had pretty good results, but i think a 330 or even a 320 might give better results. When i ran this setup i was running stk carbs, jugs and reeds with trinity pipes and pod filters. When you get your cylinders dont go put a huge jet in there you might be suprised at where you end up with them.I found that mine seemed perfect witth the 340s in there after porting the increasd flow will pull more fuel through the smaller jets.

Reeds may richen it up a bit ,but leave it alone and run it and check your plugs.

What 200-235 thats a big diffirence.I would ckeck the gauge.Ar you running stk stroke? Both of those numbers are really high.I run 18cc domes on a fresh bore and get 185-190.I run 111octane you might ckeck around at some race shops i buy mine for $5 a gallon if i get 55 at the time.As for your compression iwould try a diffirernt tester to be sure and if its that high i would go to about a 20cc domeI personaly dont like anything above 180 for gas and ive never ran anything else so i couldnt tell you about what they run on alky.If you noticed a difference in power by going up in elavation your proably running lean at lower elevation, you should make more power lower because there is more oxygen in the air.

7mm stock cylinder vs. stock stoke cub
RILS replied to jay shafer's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I agree alot thers alot more to it than motor. The longer the race the more the horses will shine. -
What pipes should I get for my ne wBanshee
RILS replied to Quinton's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
trinity or cpi tie. t5s fmf in that order. -
You can use the plugs to help keep the moister out of them, and clean them alot.Thats why i love stainless its the best thing trinitys ever done.
-
I have been going thourgh the samething.I would suggest calling david noss or cameron at redline racing either one of them can set you up with a set of domes for around $75.I was going to go ahead and put mine together and use the cylinders that i have but i talked to these guys and decided to wait and get my spare set of jugs done for this stroker reason being my transfers have been raised and will proably be to high for the stroker, but if your cylinders are stk you should not have this problem.Anyway you can call either of these guys and they will anwser all your questions and set you up with exactly what you need and proably ship them out the same day,i think they usually keep some stroker domes on hand.

Moneys not a big issue so that helps.Im tring to decide between the proven vforce and the unproven magic syestem. For most this would proably be a easy choice, but im always curious and a lot of times learn the hard way but a lot of times thats the best way.I may pick up a set of both and do a comparison and let yall know how it works for me and then sell the one that i least like.Hell the vforce are bringing nearly new price used.

Missing piston circlips, pitted Nosshead dome
RILS replied to CadillacBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Sometimes the clips break.I had a needle bearing "the one on the wristpin" come apart once and ate the cylinder, dome and piston up.I then went ahead and split the cases because i had no idea where else the little peces went and low and behold i found little metal chips in my crank bearings. -
Yea i was going to get one but I wasnt sure id beable to handle all that power.lol
-
Are they worth $200?Ive been searching and reading alot of stuff on this and I agree they are the most popular choice and that says somthing but I dont like to always follow the same path as everyone. On the other hand ive not heard many people complain about them just that they are not worth the price.Im just tring to let my setup breathe but dont want to waste 200bones allthough about any setup will cost this. How would you compare the flow of the stock setup to the vforce and others.

Well i just thoght i would share this part with yall.I was at the strip yesterday and I had just got threw smoking a guy on his new quadracer 450 and his sons 450r and then his 75lb son on his quadracer and he just could not beleive it.He stoped and took a closer look at the shee and said you need to put a boost bottle on it it would really rip then,so I told him that i didnt think they did shit and i must not need one because I havent been beat today anyway.I went on to explain to him that I will be installing my34pjs and billet intakes next week and the intakes didnt have a place for a boost bottle anyway. He replied that he thought the stockers combined with a boost bottle would out perform the pjs without one.I just laughed and walked away and am still laughing. Ok now for my questions ive got my new carbs and waiting on my filters, but im thinking my reeds will be the next thing holding me back.Im still running the stock cages and reeds.Im debating between three setups.Ive heard it said that the stokers modified will perform just as well if not better than the vforces. The next option is the vforces because that is what everyone seems to like, but im not real fond of anything that just snaps on so i will proably opt for the vf2s.Another option is the srp cages and reeds that magic racing sells. Ive not heard much about them I did a hear about them at planet sand and alot of guys said they were going to try them,But nobody had any experience with them hands on.Anyway they look pretty goo and claim 1.5hp over the vforce,so any of yalls opinions will be apprecited.

Im not sure what the squilling is it sounds like the throw out bearing. The cobra clutches from ford are not anygood imo.I had a 98corbra that was very lightly moded exhaust,378gears and some other little stuff I went thourgh 3 clutches and a tranny in 3 months the only tjing i could get to hold up decent was a centerforce setup.

You should not have a problem on pavement.Ive been smoking a lot of the 450s on 300ft slickass hardpacked dirt.If your running 20" tires then r,n a 15/41 if your running 18s run 16/41.Ive been running modded ones and stock one about 10 or 15 yesterday and in 300 ft of dirt if I hook up decent off the line they dont even hang. The stock ones dont stand a chance in hell even if I dont hook, but there really not that fast so on pavment you shouldnt have any problem. The one yesterday that was hanging with me was a pretty modded new suzuki and he would pull me off the line every time and then I would blow by him about 3/4 off the track but the new suzuki are the fastest of any of the 450s ive raced, but not fast enough.
-
I agree with this to a point.I dont know anybody that acutly runs trinity pipes thats not happy with them.Mine make great smooth power from top to bottom and rev really good.I coud not be happier with them.I dont know if they make more or as much peak power as the others but they make a good spread of power.I have seen a lot of fast bikes running cpi and toomey and a lot of other brands but the pipe is only one part of a huge combination of things that make a bike fast.As far as quailty the trinitys are second 2 none. They fit right, they sound good and they run good and mine keep getting better and better with every mod that i do.
-
Ive never used on of those to split the cases on anything and have split a few.
-
What is your elevation?Do you know the size of the carbs?Alot of things play a part i your jetting. Is it ported? If they were stk carbs I could proably put you pretty close but if they are like 34mm flatsides Ive never had an experince with them,But you need to know what the jets that are in there now are.Your going to have to drop the pilot down and get it to idle then proably raise the clip on the needle atleast 1 notch and run it.Look at your plugs and adjust the main accordingly. You could start by buying a few jets main and pilot 1-3 sizes smaller than the ones you have and just drop them down one step at the time and see where you end up.I personly would get a hush kit for the t5s and run them maybe get some spark arresters something like that. That would be the simplist thing to do and your going to lose a lot of power by switching back to the stockers a shee without pipes just dont make sense. But if you insist on running the stockers Ill give you a brand new set of stk pipes silancers and carbs wiyh pods and will put some jets in them that will get you close for those toommeys.

When most people do a topend they get a liitle collant on the pistons a small amout will not hurt anything.Draining your oil doest do anything for the crank its a totally differt compartment.
