  1. on my banshee it is the opposite. if you unplug the key hardness the bike runs. if you try and splice the wires it wont run. guess i got one of them banshees made on a monday.
  2. ive got one im a little too ashamed to take a picture of at the moment. a friend of mine bought a tatoo gun and practiced on fruit and slabs of meat for a week. one night we got all fucked up and i ended up asking him to give me an anarchy tatoo on my shoulder. well it kind of looks like it was done in prison by a recovering crack addict. i need to go and get it fixed. im sure it can be fixed up fine because it isnt THAT bad for a first timer, but for now i dont wear sleeveless shirts.
  3. i use atf in mine. you may be thinking why do such a thing, well an automatic transmission has a multiplate clutch plates and discs arranges in a pack just like a banshee. its also got gears and bearings and things just like a banshee. basically a 2 stroke gearbox and an automatic transmission are very similar except for the torque converter and the shifting valves and maybe a few other things. motor oil also has things that are not really needed in a gearbox. gearboxes dont have to deal with carbon and acid contamination produced by blowby combustion products. in a nutshell, any oil you use will work good. banshees dont carre what you use as long as its not cooking oil
  4. ive got a very nice set off an 06 motor. $10 shipped to youre door. shoot me a private message.
  5. they might. i had to cut the oem silencers an inch shorter to be able to fit them to my t5's. oter than that they bolted up perfectly.
  6. i have a head mounted flashlight that i use when i go spelunking in my girlfriends panties. other than that, theres ropes and such, for tying her hands and feet up to stalagmites so she can struggle but not excape. i dont know much else about the riging. just some silk ropes and a head mounted flashlight.
  7. cxompression testers with long rubber tubes (like the kind for v8 engine) will show less compression then one with a short tube because more air is inside a long tube compared to s ahort one.
  8. it depends on compression and timing as well as elevation. if you are not running on the ragged edge of compression and timing then youre premix can afford to lose some of its octane rating and still provide enough detonation resistance to keep you from blowing a hole in youre piston. personally with these hot florida weather and my compression and timing i wont use premix in my banshee thats over 1 month old. i use it up in the weedwacker, chainsaw, blower and i will also sell it/give it away to family that has 2 cycle lawn equipment. finally as a last resort my car. i have seen my dad use year old 97 octane premix in his chainsaw. that thing would ping really bad if you let the rpm's drop too low or used too much throttle. personally i hate seeing people do stuff like that but hey i cant save the world i can only do what i think is best for my stuff. the banshee scares me because the exhaust and intake is so loud i dont believe i would be able to hear it detonating. therefore i figure its better to be safe than sorry.
  9. if its too fast then all he needs to do is set the allen screw on the throttle limiter. thats sure alot cheaper than buying a 4 stroke.
  10. silencers dont really do much for performance. i removed my toomey silencers and installed the stock units so i can do wheelies without scraping the silencers. i couldnt tell a bit of difference in the power output so im just going to keep the stockers on forever and sell my toomeys.
  11. you could ride a cub on trails just fine. when trail riding the limitation is NOT youre motor, its youre suspsension plus rider stamina and skill level. ive ridden with other banshee owners who had everything from dune ported stockers to cubs and even a full blown cheetah with powervalves. honestly all of us are about equal in speed because when we trail ride it doesnt matter what engine you have you can only corner so fast and you can only take bumps and jumps so fast. doesnt matter if you have a stock motor with stock pipes or a powervalve cheetah and cpi's, the limitation is in the suspension and the rider not the engine. so basically a cub isnt worth it for trail riding. the power is kind of wasted because when trail riding youre never at full throttle anyways. hell porting for trail riding is almost a waste. a banshee is a banshee. focus on suspension and practice rather than the engine.
  12. you probably saw an rd400. its basically an old school banshee motor. twin cylinder, 400cc's (as you obviously know) and the 1 big difference is that its aircooled instead of liquid cooled. most people dont like those old 2 stroke bikes, you basically have to be a die hard 2 stroke freak to want one (i want one).
  13. congradulations on youre win. its such a great feeling to know youre faster than the next guy. i guess thats why so many people are addicted to drag racing. what a coincidencethat i drag raced a 250r last weekend as well. this guy told me his 250r had a high performance piston, big bore kit and a camshaft as well as the usual clamp on fake k&n filter. he was talking up his 250r like it was heroin. i didnt know 2 strokes came with camshafts! well i tell you what when we both took off from the starting line i just destroyed him. by the time he got 50 foot out of the hole i was 100 feet away. so after spaking him over and over again he tells me that banshees are quick outa the hole but his 250r is a top end bike and if we race from a rolling start he will beat me. so we race from a rolling start in 3rd and once again the banshee with its world destroying power let me jump out in front. it wasnt even a race! i also took on a 400ex with a 440cc big bore kit and high compression piston, drag cam, hmf exhaust and small front sprocket and again a fake k&n clamp on filter. again it was no compatition. i destroyed that 440ex like it was a 250ex from a rolling start as well as a race from a stop. and both riders of these 2 atv's probably weighed 130lbs less than me! gotta love the banshee. i know i sound a bit cocky, i know theres some wocked 250r's out there as well at 400ex's, but come on its not like there is very many of those wicked bikes cruising around.
  14. looks like a good low cost alternative to real paddles. i dont think the average banshee owner who plays in a sandbox really needs $200 a piece tyres.
  15. if i had my shee here i would pull the gastank and front plastic to take pics for you. sence its not here i will just type out the way i did it as best as i can. the T fitting has 1 bolt securing it to the frame. remove this bolt and slightly bend the steel front brake lines so that you can raise the t fitting upwards about an inch or so. now you run into the problem of how to secure the t fitting because the mounting holes no longer line up with the bolt. you will need to make an adapter with the dimensions of 2 inches long by 1 inch wide. the steel should be around 1/8 to 1/4 thick. drill a hole in each end of this piece of steel. put the original t fitting bolt through the steel and secure it to the frame. now go to the hardware store and buy a bolt and nut that you can use on the other hole of the steel adapter to secure the t fitting to the steel adapter you just made. now you have a rigidly mounted t fitting just like stock, and best of all you dont need to buy an expensive aftermarket flexible brake line. all you need for tools to do this is a hacksaw, a small piece of scrap steel, a drill with a drillbit that is roughly the size needed to install a 10mm bolt. you also need a bolt and nut from the hardware store. thats it man. about $3 in parts and an hour of labour (not counting the time it takes to drive to and from hardware store). and that is assuming you dont already have the required items laying around. i had everything i needed in my garage s it didnt cost me a dime.
  16. just because the impeller blades are plastic doesnt mean its any less reliable than metal. alot of new cars come with plastic impellers and last for 100,000+ miles. with that said, i have heard of an abnormally high failure rate of the banshee impeller compared to a car impeller. maybe its just a poor design? i replaced the plastic impeller on my new banshee with an aluminum model because i was worried about it. but after removing the stock unit and trying to break the blades, i realise that it was a waste of money. i couldnt break the stock blades with my hands. i couldnt get the shaft to dislodge from the blades either. maybe after some years the plastic gets brittle or something. i dont know really. but the stock impeller looks to be made out of nylon and nylon is a pretty strong matereal and it is resistant to water, oil and coolant.. not to mention that there is basically no stress on the blades. all they do is churn in water. also i used my infrared tempature gun to measure my cooling tempature before and after the mod. i noticed no difference whatsoever.
  17. if you live on a dirt road tell them to piss off because its perfectly legal to ride a quad on dirt roads in florida. otherwise youre breaking the law. but you seem to have some prick beighbors. my neghbors came over 1 evening with some atv's and we spun donuts up and down the street. as long as im not riding in anyones yard, they could care less about what i do on my banshee.
  18. honestly i dont think there is any difference in functionality between an extended stem and some bar risers. get whichever one is the cheapest, but trust me guys GO out there and get it done. you just cant imagine how much more functional the banshee has became sence i did this. this is one of those must have mods. i would have gotten this stem before i got my engine mods done if i knew how much better it would make my banshee.
  19. it really depends on youre riding style, the mods youve done to the engine, what tyres you have (bald tyres ovver higher fuel economy) and youre jetting. chase has roughly half the fuel economy as i do, although hes got a drag ported 10millimetre stroker and alot of other go fast parts so that is to be accepted. my praticular banshee gets 60 miles to the tankfull when i ride agressively on flat trails. i think the banshee has about a 3 gallon tank, so thats around 20 miles per gallon. by the way those numbers are gps verified. so no im not just pulling numbers out of my ass. i have gps which tells me my total distance traveled and i have to ride back to basecamp on reserve if i stay out long enough to go 60 miles. now im not running hard core swamp tyres or scat trak paddle tyres. im running oem dunlops which are a fairly fuel efficent offroad tyre. if i were to run paddles my mileage would drop, and if i ran tyres which have a smooth low resistance tread pattern (like a garden tractor type tyre) or if i just ran tyres with worn out treads, my fuel conomy would go up. jetting and air filter maintence plays a big role as well. i run my bike with the right jetting lean enough to have a good strong powerband jet rich enough to not hole a piston. i know alot of 2 strok owners tend to jet their bikes WAY rich on the premise that "rich is safe" but honestly running rich isnt any safer than putting youre jetting at the right spec for youre conditions. only lean jetting is dangerous on a 2 stroke so there isnt anything to be gained by running these things pig rich. id be willing to bet most all banshees are jetted way too rich. where i ride there are alot of them and at idle through half throttle some of these engines are so rich they sound like a 4 stroke and really lack low and midrange power because of it. if you are one of those guys who never cleans their air filter then youre mileage will drop. dirty air filters are a restriction and they literally act like a cold start choke, exxept they dont go away once the engine warms up, the engine stays choked and rich untill you clean the filters. a friend of mine has a banshee with very similar modifications as mine and he runs some huge main jets and pilots. his needle is also adjusted to be real rich. his fuel economy sucks compared to mine. his exhaust awalys smokes alot and spits out oil. plus he fould out plugs all the time. ivce only fouled out 1 plug sence i got my banshee almost a year ago and i think that was my fault for putting too much anti-seize on the threads. my exhaust only smokes when the engine is cold or if i run it REALLY hard and heat the exhaust up enough to start burning out the oil that gets in the mufflers. if you spit oil out the exhaust you are probably too rich. and oil has no lubrication benefits when its in the exhaust so youre basically wasting it. so basically, the point i am trying to make is that no one can tell YOU what fuel economy YOU are going to get. each bike and rider and riding location is different and all of these things have a huge impact on the end result. you have to go out and ride it to figure out what kind of fuel economy you can get.
  20. got a lonestar +2 steering stem installed. all i can say is WOW. rider fatigue when standing up is greatly reduced, plus i feel more stable when going through rough stuff. also shifting while standing is much easier. normally during semi agressive trail riding i would fatigue around the 2 hour mark. now i can ride for 3+ hours at a time and i am not as tired as i used to be at 2 hours. now i have to stop because i run out of gas quicker than i get tired. i am 6'6 so you can imagine it really helps out alot. my dad is 6'2 and he agrees that it is a nessassary mod for any of the taller guys and he loves it as well. so much so that hes going to get one for his raptor. any of you guys out there who are a bit taller than average? i ask you to really consider a taller steering stem. every person who has rode my banshee has commented on how much better it handles. ive had dozens of other banshee riders try out my banshee and they all love the taller stem. not one complaint. not a single one and m,ost of them said they are going to get taller stems. a +2 is just long enough that you can use all of youre stock cables and such. the ony other mod you need to do is relocate the front brake "t" fitting about 1 inch higher than it currently sits. other than that no other mods are nessassary. if you are not quite as tall as me but still taller than average, consider a +1 stem. to date this is probably the single best mod i have ever done to my banshee. and that really says alot.
  21. unless youve got an airleak, there isnt any way a stock banshee could go from 200's to 260's with just a filter and lid. hell t5's are 1 step away at 280. spary some ether or carb cleaner around the boots and carbs.
  22. honestly i believe yamaha jets the stock banshee a hair rich right from the factory. so if you pulled the lid you would probably be spot on with 200's or 210's. but in reality that bike isnt going to bog with anything from 200 to 240. i doubt youre bogging is related to the mains. on my bike i can put anything from 280 to 350 in and it wont bog. id bet you did something wrong with you re assembled the carbs. perhaps the slides are in wrong. do a plug chop and post up the pics.
  23. i ride holy land, okeechobee, clewiston, corbitt, rodman. those are all south-central-mid areas to ride that are within 6 hours of each other. im going to hit up moroso motocross park next.
  24. you guys suck. im sitting at bigscrub all by myself with no one to ride with. i saw raptorforum was there as well as a few other groups. all you sellouts who didnt show up (only i showed up) missed out on one HELL of a ride. sence i had no bansheehq crew to ride with i rolled out with the members of atv miami extreme. one guy had a gps and saturday he said we did a 60 mile blitzcrieg to the west end of the powerlines and back. actually we went a few miles past the end of the powerline road all the way to highway 90! and get this, we did it all using trails! no straight line running down the powerlines for us. that was 100% trail riding for 60 miles. we started out by hgeading east and hit those trails and just kept going untill all of the sudden we somehow got to the west and were at the end of the powerlines. i swear we must have hit up every trail north of the campsite atleast once in order to soak up 60 miles on the gps. we also did night time road running. yeah its illegal but we run with the headlights off and no one got hurt or ticketed. sunday we packed it up and went to rodman and did the 23 mile rodman loop, only we got lost and took a few hours to find the campsite so it was more like 30-40 mile ride. i made it back with a pint of gas lest in my tank. another banshee rider ran out of gas right at the campsite entrance. rodman was sweet but it was all wooped out like big scrub is. speaking of that, the park ranger i talked to at big scrub said they are going to double the fees for camping, and use the money to buy a bulldozer to keep the trails nice and flat. how cool is that? there was lots of drag racing at big scrub.i beat 2 raptor 700's with power commanders and pipes/intakes, a yfz450 with pipes, some other things that i dont even know what they were because they had custom plastics and stickers. some piped and ported/stroked shee's and get this, one guy has real cheetah cylinder engine in his banshee. the kind with powervalves. i beat him too!. none of those guys could launch very good. i beat a cheetah! i beat a cheetah! horray for me. in the cheetah's defence, from a rolling start he just smokes me. but if we drag from a stop i beat him everytime. all in all between friday through sunday i think i rode 130 miles total. and most of that is gps verified so im just just making up numbers. look in the pics and vids section for those items.
  25. then have him drive you to my place in sebring. its south of orlando. you can ride up to ocala with us. we have the room on the trailer for youre banshee. you or anyone else give me a call my number is 561 601 3322. i wont be online anymore this week so ill see you all at the meetup at big scrub.
