  1. I usually run Maxima MTL 80w in both my quads, but when I put in a my new clutch the dealer was out of it so I bought the Honda tranny oil in the red bottle. Good stuff too, but as far as saving money goes with cheap oil...the tranny oil doesn't get changed often enough for me to worry about a $5 dollar difference. Riding a banshee is expensive whether you buy cheap oil or not. ::
  2. I have some racelogic porting templates in good shape w/ instructions that let you port your own intake and exhaust ports with common tools (I used a die grinder and variable speed cord type dremel with carbide bits and some sanding drums). They're pretty easy to use and seem to work well for the money. I need some bar risers for 7/8 bars or maybe some billet parts, if interested let me know what you've got. I'm open to any reasonable offers. Jared
  3. I buy all kinds of things I don't need every time I shop there, they've definitely got variety. They even had people in the parking lot trying to hustle me about needing money since they couldn't meet up with their FEMA representative in Hunstville, AL waaayyy after the hurricane...bs, they'd just spend it at a casino or strip club. Cons...definitely a good candidate to fill the caskets.
  4. I've got one, I also just found out I'm gay... :shoothead:
  5. I use a 4" angle grinder/cutoff wheel and leave them on the quad, then trim the edges with a razor. I sand them straight and round the edges, then top it all off with a plumbers torch to get rid of the haze on the fenders from the sandpaper. It also gives some gloss to the edges but you have to be careful since it's easy to melt them. :thumb:
  6. Yeah, what he said.
  7. The PC stuff does work good, but it comes off pretty easy. I used it on my honda, which is black, and it makes a big difference on darker plastics that show scratches real easy. Anybody have a specific name for the wax or resin people mentioned? Also where to buy it? I might pick a jug up if it's really cheap.
  8. You can get one from trinity, I think they're around $35 bucks and the cable is braided. Terry Cable makes them so they're good quality.
  9. If I'm not mistaken the moose throttle needs a 10mm cable also. It's identical to the terry cable throttle and doesn't have a connection for the TORS. Spend the $50-60 bucks and get the eliminator kit while you're doing everything now. It's way easier to work on the carbs and cleans up the motor some. I had nothing but trouble out of the TORS on my stock carbs when I had them.
  10. Everyone forgot one of the most important things since it's such a work of art...POLISH IT!!!
  11. Hey thanks man, I do all my own stuff and try to give my banshee a little bit different look. As far as the key goes, I made the hole identical to the stock key and made sure I checked the clearance on the tank because it's kind of a tight fit. Don't forget about key relocators that go under the seat since they clean everything up really nice too. I'm sure you'll like your X5's, I run them on my Honda and love them.
  12. I run azonic deluxe wall bars that are cr hi bend, they're pretty nice but I'll probably get a +1 or 2 stem soon since they sit pretty low.
  13. Like Chase said, as long as you're happy is what matters. I'd recommend getting a clymer if you don't have one and trying it yourself next time. You can save a bunch of money doing those repairs yourself, labor starts adding up and once you learn your banshee over it's not to hard to fix most stuff unless you need machining.
  14. Man, that's the first thing that came to mind when I read this post...a van with no windows. :yelrotflmao:
  15. Isn't his phone # in his sig? Seems like it is, check one of his posts.
  16. You should have brought a bag of candy, you could've thrown it one way and let them go after it while you and your buddy got the hell out of there.
  17. I wouldn't really say a waste, but I'd spend my money on things like reeds that are priced about the same before I bought a cdi. I guess if you were into drag you could get a really hot ignition, but most people just run a timing advance. I don't know your mods, but for the same price you could also get a coolhead and an adjustable timing plate and come out better off.
  18. They market them as rev boxes for 2 strokes, but on a banshee they don't affect the rev limit very much. The type of pipes you have are what determines how high it revs, but they do increase the rev limit on 4 strokes. They can advance your timing some and give a hotter spark which will give you a little power boost and some even let you program the power curve for the type of riding you do. I've got a GYTR cdi which is kind of a milder one, but better than stock and I like it pretty well.
  19. A 10" rim will give a rougher ride, I'd stick with the 9" if you ride alot of trails. 4 ply hold up pretty good unless you ride in rocky areas, I've busted 2 in the last few months on rocks.
  20. Sorry for trying to help someone else out with a cheap gasket, I don't need them and the shipping for my stuff would be every bit of $5 bucks. Maybe I'll throw them in the trash.
  21. I've got a bag full of stainless hex head bolts that fit with spacers, pm me if you want a few. Jared
  22. A radiator helps more than anything but it costs a fortune, until I break off the money to buy one I run a coolhead and engine ice. I use an inline cooler too, even if it doesn't do much at least it's billet.
  23. I'd suggest maxxis razr's in the stock size for a good all around tire, they wear pretty good and have enough bite for a track if you decide to go that route. You'd probably want 18" rears for mx which isn't to good for trails. The 20" rears are the best IMO for several types of riding. As far as sprockets, I'd run steel sprockets and a gold chain. Rocky Mountain ATV has pretty good deals on their primary drive brand and I've heard good things about them so you can't go wrong with them.
  24. I kept catching my boots on them and scuffing them everytime I threw a leg over my bike so I hacked them off. I could care less if I get dirty, if I did I'd buy a street bike and stay on the road. Plus it looks cool.
  25. You're seeing more and more big bores and seriously fast quads running 2 into 1's so you know they can work properly on large motors (cascade is one of them). I'm sure big carbs are great for dunes and drag, but that's the last thing I would want for trails or play. As far as a single, I think 35mm is pretty standard and gives you some options later on unless you build a monster motor and have to upgrade to a 38mm.
