  1. As far as a resistor plug not giving as good of a spark, theres no evidence of that. The only thing a higher resistance will do is lower the voltage. The current (amperage) will be the exact same. As long as you have enough voltage to jump the gap of the spark plug, thats really all you need, its the current that determines how hot of a spark you have. Voltage is set by the gap of the plug, only the voltage necessary to jump the gap is used. Think of those igniters in electric butane lighters. Any of you ever played with one? The spark will jump 1/4" or so, and it gives you a good little pop, nothing big though. Now a spark plug jumps less distance than that, so uses less voltage, but it will pop the hell out of you. Thats the current, the amperage doing that. A resistor plug (resistor in a circuit, whatever) doesn't change the current one bit.
  2. GA is kind of a big state, where in ga are you? I live in SC, about half an hour away from augusta.
  3. Its the highest rated weekly show on Speed. It isn't going anywhere unfortunately.
  4. Little bit of glass work Ive done we just used carpet (speaker box carpet). It had to be sanded smooth anyways, as your fenders would, so whatever pieces of carpet it picked got sanded away.
  5. If you locked up the motor, don't keep trying to get it to run until you figure out whats wrong. ::
  6. Honestly Ive never heard of many recurring problems with the Banshee frame, other than the steering stop, that loop behind the radiator, and possibly the foot pegs. Just looking at it, the banshee frame it is well built. The new quads need the kits cuz the factories have been trying to keep the weight down, and the frames aren't as strong.
  7. Roll stuff is nice, but IMO (and most other peoples) its overpriced. Their a-arms don't do anything different than anybody elses. $2600 for Roll and Elka shocks vs $1600 for Janssen arms and the same Elka shocks vs $1700 for Laeger arms and the same Elka shocks (yeah I know, my prices probably aren't exact, but you get the point) I wouldn't mind having them, but the only real benefit I can see is the balljoints. But at that price you could buy new heims every year, and still save money. Just search this forum, you'll find plenty of good arms. Oh, and Banchetta, you forgot PEPs on your list
  8. Oh, I don't count those, they aren't really serious sport tires.
  9. Its not going to cause you to lose torque, thats just silly talk. It will cause the motor to rev quicker, in both directions. Let off the gas, and it will drop revs quicker. Get on the gas, and it will let the motor rev faster. The more weight in your drivetrain, from the flywheel all the way to the wheels, takes horsepower (and therefore torque) to spin. You drop 4 lbs off your tires, you picked up hp (and tq). Drop a few ounces off your flywheel, you'll gain hp (and tq). Don't forget, hp and torque are directly related, you can't gain hp and lose torque at the same time at the same rpm. As far as low rpm power, who the hell gives a fuck? Its a banshee, there is no power under 6 grand anyways. And if your spending your time trying to gain low end hp, get a 4 stroke. That being said, I really have no desire to spend the time or money to have it done. Plus there is a (small) chance it could fail.
  10. Since when did holeshots become heavy tires? :shoothead: Ok, kenda makes some lighter tires (the knarly). But ITP still makes lighter tires than anything Maxxis. Personally I like my holeshot XCRs. Maybe not as much hookup as could be, but they handle great.
  11. Personally I have no use for windows period. If I did still use xp, I wouldn't bother to upgrade to vista. There are no real enhancements, its slower than XP, and it costs a fortune. Oh and as far as your fancy 3d desktop, its cool, but can you do this: Linux has had 3d desktops for a while now. But, if you like, and your happy, Im happy for you. Have fun with your toy!
  12. They're still pretty new to the game, so at this point your going to find more bad opinions than good ones probably. Im planning on buying their a-arms when I get my tax money back, they look a lot better built than most a-arms out there. They are pricey though.
  13. 2 pieces of flat steel, a grinder, and some bolts. I made my own tool. Not to hard, works great.
  14. Its just a way to manage/look at multiple desktops. When you use the desktop, it stays flat like normal, it just zooms out into that cube when you change from one virtual desktop to another. The supposed benefit is that you can see whats on all your desktops at once. I just think it looks cool. I think there is a way to have different icons on different desktops, although I don't really like to have icons on the desktop, they just clutter stuff up. Windows vista will have something similar if I remember right.
  15. Ok, just wondering if anyone else has had the problem with their boots steel toe scratching up the clutch cover if they miss the kick starter. Mines starting to look like crap now, and has some nice gouges. I was thinking maybe something like a bike tank protector? Think it would be tough enough?
  16. Alright, windows can kiss my ass... Heres a couple new ones, first the flat desktop, second showing the "cube" and multiple desktops.
  17. rz500 was a tank. It was a twin crank 4 cylinder (yes you read that right). Never was a real racing bike. They didn't sell it in the US because of emissions.
  18. Those kits are so bad they shouldn't be allowed to sell them. They might not be as weak as spacers, but they will increase bump steer tenfold. Enough to the point where someone could wreck. DON'T get those.
  19. Set up a system of equations. Angle 1 is x, angle 2 is y. And you know that a flat line is 180 degrees right? So... x = 2y - 57 and x + y = 180 replace x in the second with the 1st equation: (2y - 57) + y = 180 3y = 237 y = 79 so for x put your value for y back in one of the other equations and solve... x + (79) = 180 x = 101
  20. Exactly. Light, humidity and temperature are gasolines enemies. A sealed metal can is the best place to store gas in, and keep the can out of the sun somewhere cool. Race gas and av gas both have additives that make sure the gas stays fresh longer. Personally I don't worry about it. I ride enough that the longest my tank has the same gas is a few weeks, and the cans never have gas more than a month. (I use av gas)
  21. NO, you're NOT safe just cause he sent you a cashiers check. They are forging the check and sending you a fake. The bank won't realize its fake until it gets processed, at which point you are now liable for the money.
  22. Yes, Sony loses money on each PS3 sold, as does Microsoft lose money with each xbox 360. The game sales make up the difference. They did the same thing on the last generation of consoles. Even if the PS3 isn't near as successful as the ps2 (I doubt it will be), they will still end up breaking even sooner or later. Bottom line, while sony might have some reorganizing to do, they aren't going anywhere yet. They are simply too big of a company.
  23. What Works does (and Elka too now I believe) is that dealers can have a batch of shocks made to their specifications (as in 2 different MX shocks, one valved for heavy people, and another for lighter people). That way they have something in stock to give to you if you want it now. And its cheaper than buying from the manufacturer. But your not getting shocks made to your riding style as you might be led to believe, your getting the closest thing they have to your specifications. Now some dealers still will write down everything you say and send that to get the shocks built for you, but I'd at least ask. If it ships in a day or 2, it was probably already made.
  24. I guess I was talking more about the choice of weave in regard to straight lines. Certain ones are made for certain things.
  25. I've never seen a company that makes any for a banshee. Sundahl probably had them custom made. That being said, working with carbon fiber is nearly as simple as working with fiberglass. Use epoxy resin, layer sheets, and remove as much resin and air bubbles as possible. It won't be quite as strong or light as something manufactured but its close. the best way is to vacuum form the carbon fiber in a mold which will remove all air, and only leave as much resin as possible. Also remember carbon fiber gets its strength in straight lines. The fibers have high tensile strength, but thats it.
