In the 8th mile, if you have 6th gear and you're not wound out totally to the top of 6th gear, you're missing ET and MPH. 15/38 Is a good start. You'll HAVE to use 1st to launch in a stock port motor with that gearing... Unless you're 300lbs...you should be able to hit mid 70s on a bone stock bike in the 8th.

Make or pick up a leak down tester. With the luck you've had thus far...it's the next step.

how long does a top end last and crank
dajogejr replied to yamahaman244's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
As long as it's not crisco...oil will never be your problem. Synthetic or conventional is fine. Keeping the banshee in a solid state of tune (jetting, igntion, etc.) clean and fresh fuel and clean air filters will give your bike the longest life. Anyone worth their salt who bores cylinders should chamfer the ports when done. That's a gimmie...if not, find a new machine shop.... The crank is a crap shoot. The more you beef up the engine, the more time you get on it, etc., the more it prone to separate. Some will tell you they ran stockers for years with no problems, I've seen the separate with bolt on bikes only in a few rides. When and IF you have to tear the motor down, get the stock crank trued and welded. It'll last probably as long as the rest of the bike. Again, type of oil isn't that important. Find a nice, reasonable mixture like 32:1 or 40:1 and you'll be fine. -
Damn...when I first read the topic of this thread, I thought Tyler was gonna finally man up and post up nudies of his girlfriend 2.0...damn... I'll see if I can get a hold of him for you...he might have something for a graphic or something.

I would agree with that 100%. It's kinda like pulling out early...you sure don't want to, but glad you're did....LOL.
-
I will see your trail riding, and raise you drag racers... Many tracks have rules that say you have to run sleeves as well...just a thought. I know you're trying to get shirts out there, kudos... Just something to think about going forward.

UNLIKE me, JD is very artistic....if it were my show, you'd have stick figures and be forced to like it...LOL. He can whip something up for you on CAD and go from there...

If you click on the link above, scroll down to the fullbore grills. Mine is first, the number 13 with dajogejr on one side and SOD on the other. I just told JD something plain...when I actually run plastic (lol) it saves me from having to run a number plate!
-
That's a factory polished grille. Why not hit up our new site sponsor, JD's Customs for a one off custom grill. He did mine form my bike. http://www.jdscustoms.com/

You are better off getting race fuel or AV gas for your octane needs than trust a bottle of that crap.

Personally.... and I have nothing against the swingarm shop, he's a fellow MI guy and fellow racer, great guy. But I would be looking towards a roundhouse swingarm. Once you get a new carrier...it's the only way to fly...and it makes chain adjustments a snap!

IF those jet similar/same as PWKs, you'll end up with a 48 or 50 pilot and a 150 to 158 main more than likely.

OK...I know I'm going to catch hell for this, but I don't sugar coat anything Tyler. Get rid of the banshee silhouette for banshee HQ. It looks gay, like a 5 year old cut it out of his coloring book. IF it was a better graphic, I'd say keep it...it's not. All you need is Banshee HQ. Concentrate on some killer Font for the site name. Under the site name, include "All Banshees, All The Time" I like the rest with sponsors, I was going to ask about Chariot....I'm pretty sure you're not going to hear any arguments from him on the shirt. Isn't Tim Wibble (AZCUSTOMS or Stellar Performance) a sponsor too?

Never been better...

I hope your dick is longer than your memory. And I quote: "Here's the deal, Jeff is a good guy and builds some good stuff. He also sells a lot of little "tricks" that you can do without but hey if someone wants to fatten his wallet with the stuff then more power to him!!!" As a business owner, how else would you take that? You think that's a compliment. I only read the first page...don't need to go any further. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...l=FAST&st=0 So....how's that credibility treatin' you right about now? And...the icing on the cake: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...884&hl=FAST A MONTH AGO, you're asking how to set yours up. Now you're a pro on setting up others?

Like I said... The DS isn't winning based on the T5 pipes alone, nor are "all these other" bikes with T5s losing because they have T5s instead of ProCircuits. There's more to it than that....

55 pilots. If you're in warm temps...50 or 52 should be fine.

Once the compression ring on a spark plug is compressed the first time, you should only have to turn the plug 1/4 turn once it makes contact with the dome. 160 cranking PSI isn't too bad, I would definately be checking the timing, maybe even pull the flywheel off to make sure it doesn't have a degree key on top of the timing plate (hey, we used to mod stockers AND put a degree key in before the timing plates were around...or we were too cheap to buy one...lol) I'd like to know the compression ratio as well. It could be sky high but due to the exhaust port being raised a bunch, it might not get that high on cranking compression. Also, what is your squish at? checked for air leaks? Full drag port, CPI pipes but STOCK carbs???? Possible those carbs aren't getting it the fuel it needs...or the small carbs/carb bowls are running out of fuel as well.

Please welcome yet another new site sponsor...

My ONLY regret is I see JD's products and I get pissed I can't buy a ton more from him.... From his grills to brake rotors...and everything else, JD is the man. Couldn't meet a nicer guy at the track or the dunes...sorry I had to put you down in the arm wrestling fiasco at Ionia.... Glad to see you jump on board, we all love your products! -
Last I checked, Whitaker will make a 1-6 dunable, not sure of Neutral placement. Based on what I know about their delicate nature on the pavement guys bikes that don't run dunable, I'll never sell or get a 6 speed cut. Greg can have those headaches...and I'm pretty sure, not positive, those 1-6 dunables are very, very pricey.... On his website right now, which may or may not be updated, there are no dunables with 6th gear. In fact, his 1-5 and 2-5 manual 6th he doesn't offer as a dunable either....

A. I'm pretty sure I have more experience tuning methanol than you. B. I'm pretty sure settings that work at sea level are not going to work at your elevation and get max or even close to max performance. You can run methanol as fat as you want, you can almost drown the motor in it before it sputters and bogs... You'll learn that's still a far cry from having an optimum tuned motor. Funny...weren't you guys bashing the living shit out of Jeff saying the bike was a turd you bought with his tune, and now you 180 and say the bike is fine and you didn't have to tune it much. If Jeff had 70s in there, you didn't have to spend all day cleaning it out...but you put 68s in there and then enriched the needle all the way...hmm.... Why? Hmmm.... Once again...your credibility is in question....go figure.
-
There ya go... PJs jet a hair different than PWKs, but...I'd say you're damn close to what this guy needs as well.
-
With Wiseco recently raising their prices, I'm not sure how Jeff can feed his family giving that stuff away. Those are smoking prices on pistons.... Plus you're buying from an honest guy with anything else you may need, not some Ebay store where you're a dollar and a number.

Work with HJR to build a complete package. Domes, porting, pipes, clutch, gearing, etc. Too many times I see guys just buy this or that, piece it all together. Builders (HJR, FAST, etc.) have already taken the time to figure out what works best as a package. Too many times I see guys just get a motor back from porting, then asking jetting specs, etc. While the FINAL tune is always on the user, a builder can always get you closer than the general public. They know their setups better than John Q....

With 68 pilots he'll spend half the day trying to clean it out. Is this a stock cylinder, or aftermarket? If it's a stock cylinder without triple exhaust ports, you more than likely won't need power jets. That being said, I'd have them anyways just to be safe. If you're gonna start drilling, get a drill index set and a set of digital calipers. I'd be starting with a .122 dump tube and .118 to .120 main. Gut your gas cap, drill the vent tube out to .125 Get a Pingle dual feed fuel valve, and as said...for runs longer than 300 feet, larger bowls are not a bad idea.
