  5. Well my 92 banshee finally needs a new top end so I decided to replace the crankshaft. I purchased a Hot Rods complete crankshaft assembly from RMATV. I need to know the additional parts I need to complete the crankshaft replacement.
  6. I have a 92 banshee, FMF fatties, and a pro-design cool head. I don't know the dome size but when I purchased the cool head the domes were supposed to be the equivalent of the stock head. I did a compression test today and my readings were 140 psi on both cylinders. i warmed the bike up and held the throttle open. i am at sea level. My bike will start after about ten kicks when cold but when warm it starts right up. I did this test because of the age of my bike and thinking I might need a rebuild of the top end. Question 1: when doing the test, after kicking to the maximum pressure should the gauge hold its pressure or should it slowly leak down? If it leaks down and it is not leaking from the gauge assembly is this an indication of a problem with the cylinder? Question2: Seeking advice, with this compression reading should I consider the rebuild or leave well enough alone?
  7. I have a chance to buy a 1989 Honda 250r which is bone stock with fairly low hours. What is the going rate for this bike in the southern california area? The bike is in excellent shape.
  8. I have a 92 banshee with stock motor, fmf fatties, pro design pro flow foam filter kit. I have the original cdi unit and would like to get a spare in case it goes out while riding. Which aftermarket units are suggested and which ones should I stay away from?
  9. I have a 92 banshee( original owner) and I have the original pistons in the motor. I have also always heard that the crankshaft is a weak point in these motors. My bike runs fine but the age is beginning to concern me. Should I be proactive and replace the pistons and crankshaft? If so, I have more questions: When replacing pistons do you need to have the cylinders off and pistons out before buying the new piston to determine the size needed after honing the cylinders(I don't know how scratched up the walls will be). Rocky mountain has the HotRod Crankshaft assembly. aside from gaskets what other parts ( bearings, seals, etc.) will i need to purchase?
  10. Does anyone use prescription goggles and if so what is your opinion. I wear my glasses under scott otg goggles and have not had any problems except for the hassle of putting them on. I've found 2 sites that make them provue.com and 888rxgoggles.com.
  11. I am starting to attempt to rejet my bike after installing fmf fattys and turbincore II silencers. I have a pro design pro flow foam air filter with the lid on and snorkel removed. no other mods to bike. I have read and printed all the carb and jetting info on this site and it has helped me formulate my plan of attack. I have also done a search and found a couple of posted topics that have helped. I am planning on starting with 260 mains and the stock pilot and going from there. Any input will be greatly appreciated. I have seen the plug chop diagnosis. can this be accomplished with the bike secured to a stand with the rear wheels in the air and running through the gears? will no load on the bike cause a bad reading? Great site with loads of info! oops looking for suggestions not subbestions
  12. Hi all This is my first post as I just found this forum. I have a 92 banshee with fmf woods pipes and answer sa pro silencers.(custom work to mate up). I run a stock air box without the snorkel with a pro design foam filter setup. I am looking at getting new pipes and silencers. I'll go with the fmf turbinecore 2 silencers( spark arrestor) but i am unsure of which pipe to choose, the fmf fatty or the fmf gnarly. I do the majority of my riding in Glamis but I do head up to the high desert also. I'm not looking for a rocket just a cruiser for fun.
