4 mil problem this weekend. Question for the gearheads!
dajogejr replied to phx450's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Is it possible you ran the bowls dry? A good running 4 mil can do that...and, it won't do that too many times, either. Have you pulled the spark plugs at all, to check for metal/aluminum, ?? -
That's what I'd Guess...but here's a sure fire way to tell if you're spot on the main or not. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html

Couple questions. What are ALL the mods done to your bike? What temps and elevation do you ride at? Did you properly "chop a plug" or....just looking at coloring after riding the bike for a while? Do you have a pro-flow adapter (the factory lid aids in sealing the air filter to the front of the air box, without an adapter to seal, you will suck dirt and water into the carbs) This is how to properly dial in your main...color on the end of the plug really means nothing. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html

Top end rebuild cylinder bore measurement
dajogejr replied to Hollister_Hitman's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yep!! If it ran fine, and there is no scarring or knicks on the cylinders...get .020 pistons. Magic has a great price on pistons, all gaskets, rings, wrist pins and the give you free wrist pin bearings. Here ya go... http://www.magicracing.com/Wiseco-Piston-K..._p_133-135.html -
I have a 4.7 liter motor in my Dodge Ram....with Hemi Cylinders.... It's all good, I slapped on a diesel turbo....and the glow plugs. :shoothead:

jetting new motor dont know were to start
dajogejr replied to bansheecowboy's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Before you go out and ride it, check it for leaks. If anything, it should've went RICHER from 1600 to 3200 feet. My advice is start with 320 main, stock pilots and needle in the middle clip. Normally...a 27.5 pilot is required by aftermarket pipes when removing the airbox. However due to your elevation....I think you'll be ok with either or.... -
New bolts, anything better than Alloy Boltz?
dajogejr replied to dajogejr's topic in Product Reviews
They do...sort of. They don't offer a "kit" that I know of, but I know for certain they make head studs, my buddy had them on his turbo banshee. I'm sure you could measure, measure...measure....but, this is a one stop shop kit! Thanks for the input, Dan. Did you USE the assembly lube on yours? Any problems with torque...etc? -
On a full drag ported cub...geez, I sure hope not Wes.. If you're running a single carb, you're probably close. Duals, I'd say you're beyond safely rich....WAY rich, especially on the pilot.

I'd get a second opinion from a machine shop... -
You didn't mention an extended swingarm...so, assuming you're on a stocker, 8 paddles will be fine. 9 or 10 will give you TOO much bite, which...banshees like a spin a little to keep the RPMs up, and...dragging your grab bar and/or ass on the ground, while funny....isn't the best practice!! See you at the dunes!!

New bolts, anything better than Alloy Boltz?
dajogejr replied to dajogejr's topic in Product Reviews
That's funny....that is EXACTLY what my buddy said when we talked about this on the way out to pickup my frame and parts from the powder coaters. For stainless fasteners....you 100% HAVE to use the assembly lube. If there's a knick, tit, burr or any slight imperfection on the bolt/nut, it will gall. Assembly lube prevents this, and he's put together quite a few bikes with these kits.... So...I'm getting the kit, based on his actual use and experience. IF I have a problem, you all will be the first to know!!! However...I do greatly appreciate all the input of the fellow HQ members. -
I can't believe I actually watched this panty waste's video... I just kept hoping for a screeeeechh....BANG. Never happened. Yes, I've taken a rip up and down my street...a very few times. Was I dumb ass about it, tape it on a helmet cam, brag about it like I did some big deal (I do bigger wheelies than that by accident)...and then come on here and talk shit to some elder and senior members? No.... There's a big, BIG difference...and I agree, it's fucktards like this that get more and more riding areas shut down. Do us all a favor, have some friends (if you have any) throw some batteries at you riding topped out (in 6th gear...wheelie king) and get it over with...

Do you have any timing advance and/or compression changes to warrant the need for race fuel? I agree....10 paddle superlites, 21 X 10 X 8, 72 inch rollout.

Any time, Jim. 2 things....I'm starting my build now...and it's damn cold. Oh...and I just picked up a 400EX too...great, another toy!! We'll get you situated soon, Promise!!

First off, turn down the resolution on your camera, 800 by 600 is more than enough for an avitar. Second, download and use ez thumbnail creator, in the settings tab you can shrink any pic to whatever pixel by pixel size you want.

340 mains, 30 pilots, middle clip. Might have to go down to a 27.5 pilot ...depending on how much fuel that port job likes, fatties tend to like a real fat pilot.

stock trx 450r what to do to it

stock trx 450r what to do to it
dajogejr replied to DADEBOYRACER101's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Unless you dump thousands upon thousands into that 450, it won't beat a properly tuned 4 mil cub on gas. OEM cylinder ported good won't be touched either. A stock 700 raptor should walk that 450...not by a lot, but it should beat it stock vs. stock. bad.. You sound JUST like me and my buddy, I swear. Not fair to take a bike made in 98 and compare it to a bike only made in 04...and newer. Start with two 06 models, and it's closer. But, your arguement was my argument too....I bought my 96 bone stock for 2200 in 05. Figure my buddy paid triple that and then some for his brand new 450 in 04.... Again, I'm not disagreeing with you, I've said what you've said...but, I can see both sides of the coin.... -
If this is the same guy that asked the same question over at Planet Sand, then no way on 10 paddles, it's on a stock swingarm. He'll spend more time looking in the sky than having fun. Stock swinger, 8 paddle. 4 or 6 over, then go 10....

stock trx 450r what to do to it
dajogejr replied to DADEBOYRACER101's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I disagree.... A piped, jetted, cam'd and air filter 450 will beat a banshee with the same mods. Reeds, Pipes, air filter and jetting. Costs are probably about close.... One you start diving into the engine, however....porting, etc., then it's not fair. Don't forget, this motor has been around since BEFORE 87, street bike heritage. These 4 strokes are still cutting their teeth... 5 years ago there were no cub cylinders, Twisters, Caracals....etc. Once you start really sinking money into a banshee to go fast, it loses some or most of it's overall ridability. Whereas you can delve much deeper into a 4 stroke and still hit the track and trail. I used to argue with my buddy about this all the time, but...his point is, I never intend on beating cub, swung, ported alky monsters on my 4 poke...his goal is to beat other 4 pokes...and some piped and jetted banshees. Which....in that case, he can. I expect him to beat my 10 mil 14 over drag bike with his 4 poke as well as I expect myself to beat him hammering through some whoops and around winding turns, etc. Different flavors, different recipes, different diners....
