  1. I totally agree here, buy a completely new, matched set of cases and have them re-trenched/bored/port-matched. If that crank with those welds really did come from vitos I am very sorry to see what they are supplying. But seeing as daj has had multiple cranks come from them that didn't look like yours, I'd wager a guess your guy got the crank used from someone else, or tried to weld it up himself and just told you it was a vitos supplied crank. TDR cranks are made by crankworks if I remember correctly. At least if the TDR crank fails in new cases we will know its something else that's screwed up! If you're doing the assembly its your responsibility to check over everything else in the engine and make sure it isn't something else causing the problem. Something else out of balance somewhere, both cylinders firing correctly and jetted correctly, transmission bearings, clutch basket bushings, etc etc. At 9-10k rpm it doesn't take much for a few thousands of clearance to become a massive wobble and grenade parts.
  2. I don't know the exact steps Titan takes on them, but I know you have to equalize the pressure on the springs and there are some clearance issues you have to check, as well as the back-cut on the gears that pops them out when the next gear is engaged. You need to get a hold of Tim at Titan and have him go over it with you. I've never had transmission issues like you're having.
  3. I think a crank's life goes a lot towards proper setup and checkout of everything during assembly. Some people just slap everything together and call it good. I've run both billet chromoly and forged cranks and haven't had any issues with any of them. I haven't had any crank failures yet. (knock on wood) With all the issues you've had with that vitos crank, I would junk it or sell it and start fresh with a new crank, new cases, and a new flywheel. Do like daj suggested and get some straight-cuts and a TZ bearing on the next crank. With all the failures and re-welding and jacked up bearings and everything I wouldn't trust that crank to be in spec ever again.
  4. Did a retarded monkey weld your crank? That weld job looks like hell. I'd ditch the cases all together and buy a new set. Your springs in the transmission have to be equalized. Head over to planetsand and talk to Titan Racing, he can explain what all has to be done to those springs to get you set up right. EDIT: Have you considered that maybe the pin and web are slightly different metals, which is why the weld isn't holding like it should.
  5. If done right the stock cylinder drag ports hang with the cubs pretty good. I can only talk on hillshooting though. We don't do much 300ft around here. I've had a couple stock cylinder drag ported 4mils that I really liked. I've had both cubs and stockers and always like the stock cylinder ones a little bit more. Everyone and their brother has a cub.
  6. You guys need to give twister cranks a try... They are more expensive, but usually in the banshee world you get what you pay for. Louie makes some very nice parts and stands behind them. Give him a try... If you have continual problems with the other ones, what do you have to lose? Just a thought. Here's my 10mil 125mm rod twister crank. Had about 2 years of dune riding and racing on it when I took these pics. Came out of a big block twister on methanol.
  7. RMATV's HD Tusk clutch kit will handle what most people would do. There's nothing fancy about any of the clutch kits these people claim they make or put together themselves. Its basically a good set of fibers, and some steels out of a streetbike clutch setup. Do a little research and look around for parts online. You can build the same thing the builders sell for a lot less than they price it for. If you're bike isn't all cracked out on power the cheap RMATV clutch setup will probably work just fine for ya.
  8. Rev characteristics are determined by your porting, pipe design, and available fuel/air flow through your carbs. Your engine will only rev as high as these items will allow. It is generally your porting and pipe design that limit rpm's.
  9. Methanol... its a beautiful thing. Fuck av-gas, race gas, blah blah blah...

    cylinder

They were never sleeved. If yours has a sleeve, then someone did it to them.
  11. Who did this top end come from? I'd like to call Kim and ask him some questions about it...
  12. Free Bump! Its a sad day when a YFZ is the fastest thing you've ever ridden. Put the money from the sale into your banshee. lol!
  13. EVERYTHING SOLD! THANKS GUYS!
  14. I agree with brandon. Running a spacer plate on 4mil cylinders to run with a 10mil crank wouldnt run worth a hoot and you would have a very unhappy buyer. That's why I asked the questions. Sell the top end as a 4mil and the bottom end as a 10mil. =)
  15. Hey bud! Tell Kim its the cylinders he did for Bo Garten from Cheyenne, WY. Kim knows him pretty well. They run hard. PM me for more details. - Jared
  16. Yes 115mm rods. If I can't sell everything as a package deal, I will separate.
  17. Bump! I'm open to trades... Looking for a lockup/cover and jj&a axle.
  18. There's a few normal wear and tear scuffs in the cylinder walls, but you can still see the cross-hatching from the last hone. The crank doesn't have any excessive play in the rods. If you would like to call Kim at K&T and get some info on the cylinders, they used to belong to Bo Garten. Kim will know what cylinders these are and can tell you anything you'd like to know about them. They have an aggressive dune/drag port. Cylinder bore measures 2.536" on one cylinder and 2.538" on the other. 4mil K&T Cylinders and 4mil Hotrods crank. $475 shipped.
  19. Why does it need a spacer plate to complete? Are the cylinders not cast for a 10mil? What kind of crank? Who did the port work? Who did the override?
  20. That's not saying much for the car. That banshee sounded like he wasn't set up very good coming out of the hole. Huge bog and it didn't clean up until the higher gears, and no override. Not much of an asphalt banshee IMO. Get one of the big bikes out there to race him.
  21. Pics? Serial Number? Why you selling? What work has been done to it to handle the turbo setup? Who did the work?
