I was at a 42pilot, 148 main and a CEL or CGL needle on the middle clip and around 1.5 turns out. But I ride at 7200 to 8500ft.

My dad's had one for over a year now and hasn't had any problems with it.

If the engine is running and your lockup isn't spinning you have some issues. LOL Just pull your clutch cover and tear down the clutch & see whats out of whack.

I just finished doing some epoxy work on my cases and that's probably what I would try. Easy way to check it after whatever you choose to do... bolt up your cylinders and get them torqued down, while you are doing your heat cycles spray some carb cleaner around each of the gasket surfaces of your top end. If there's an air leak it will suck the carb cleaner in and you will hear your engine bog real bad.

Might be worn out shift forks. Pull your clutch cover and check that the adjustment bolt on the arm that grabs your shift star is adjusted correctly and check that the two springs on the arm aren't worn out. If the shift star area looks fine it might be worn out forks.

I might also point out the massive lack of drunken bastards flying around thinking its cool to drink and ride. There's pretty much none of that out at KP.

I explained everything that was wrong with the bike when you came to check it out and was perfectly straight-forward and honest with you. I believe your exact words were "that's ok, I want to learn how to work on these things, I've always wanted a project bike" I told you the clutch basket needed replaced, which if you had listened to me, would have fixed the cushion problem. If you recall, I offered to remove and press the new bearings on the crank for you, and even offered to pay for the new bearings but YOU said no. I also welded the crank for you. No, I'm not pissy at jon, because jon actually stands up for me and doens't talk shit behind my back. Jon is a standup guy who I'm glad to have around and ride with. ...and about your comment about fast banshees being at walden... I don't really care where "fast banshees" are. I've been to the big dunes on the big weekends and seen fast banshees. I'm good friends with one of the guys with one of the fastest bikes at sand mountain. That doesn't matter to me. I build my own shit for my own reasons. I've never been big into the drag racing, I dune-ride. I also agree with jon, if I wanted to go surround myself with drunken tards and trash and a crowded riding area, then yes, I would go to walden.

If you take your time and think about it and plan it out, you can do a decent cleanup with just a dremel and carbide bits. I raised the intake ports, cleaned up the casting flash, opened up the transfers and widened out the intakes on one of my first banshees and it had noticeable gains when I put a new top end in with some timing advance. I would ditch the shearers if you want a woods engine. If you are stock stroke / bore go with T5's, cleanup port, match your cases, advance your timing a little and spend some time tuning it and it will be a fun bike and still be reliable. If you have the tools to get down into your transfers and exhaust, you can play around with the angles on the transfers and the exhaust. I have a set of cylinders with a port job done that provides low and midrange power but LC performance has them right now doing an overbore for me. When I get them back if you still want some numbers I can map the ports and let you know what its got. But its set up for a 4mil, not a stock stroke. - Jared

Check main crank bearings. LOL I've had a few of those do that same thing. Can you kick it over if you pull in the clutch or not? Pull your clutch cover off and pull the clutch out and just start checking things. There's quite a few things that can happen in these engines that will lock them up solid. The transmission is usually a pretty solid area in stock-ish bikes. The top end / crank area is more likely to cause a solid siezure than your transmission. - Jared

For the fact that you removed and replaced the cover I would lean more towards your water pump gear not being lined up or something of that nature before I would suspect air pockets. Been doing banshees for a long time and never once had any problems with air pockets. Ever. I just pour coolant in and check it after the first couple rides. Pull the cover back off and check and be sure your impeller gear is spinning the impeller nice and smooth and try and put it back on. Start the bike and rev on it a little bit and watch your radiator once you've filled it and be sure its circulating good.
