the XR's/CRF's are IDENTICAL in all mechanical aspects, just comestic differences. for 1200 thats a frggin steal. they got bars or pipes on them?

i know its on another bike but here goes. two guy i know run them on their pitbikes and swear by them. they are lighter and highly tunable for even the most novice shock tuner. i dont see why running them on a quad would be any diffferent other than the major dimensions.

i tihnk it would look pretty cool to have the studs powdercoated along with the hub. when you get them back run a die over the threads to remove the coating where its not needed. then once everything is bolted up the stud ends are whatever color.

or you could port/stroke a cr500.

carb cleaner works pretty well. one day we were putting together a new V-star 650, just pulling it out of the crate when my buddy jack tossed some of the crate metal into a box, and missed. it hit a can or grey primer which promptly exploded onto a new VTX 1300, that was sold. took a lot of work to get that bike lookin good again.

yup, ive been running that stuff for a while. i put 10/40 Mobil 1 in my 50.

drill very slowly with the motor still in the bike. use a vacuum to collect chips as they come off the bit, repeat for the tap. then flush the case with cheapo oil a few times and bang youre done. if you just brought it in to the service department they would ask you how much you wanted to spend, and that would be the deciding factor on whether or not they split the cases. labor is expensive and a job that like would take a few hours.

stock rebound, 8 clicks in on compression, i just played with the preload till i liked it. but thats stock arms. just play with it man. find whoop sectiopn or a jump you can hit consistently and do comp one click at a time, and then do rebound one click at a time. shouldnt take too long.

circlip pliers. haha. dental picks work. or sharpen the ends of some old needle nose, that work pretty well.

exactly. it deals with how the angle of the shock, in relation to its lower mount, as it approaches 90*. at 90* thats when the shock is mount effective, with the least amount of leverage on it.
