I did my stock cylinders by hand last year since I didn't have any access to air tools...man it was a bitch! I think I spent a total of 15-20 hours on them and they still aren't perfect. I started polishing my cubs this year and ended up having them sent off to cascade to finish the job...I'll still tackle the little jobs but anything with as many nooks and crannys as the cylinders do, it's worth it to me to pay someone else, LOL I think I started off with 220 grit, then went to 400, 600, 800, 1000, then hit it with tripoli....they turned out nice, but nowhere near perfect

DG pipes came on the banshee I bought 4 years ago, it had nice smooth power throughout the powerband. They're definitely not the best, but they did the job back when I couldn't afford new pipes. I upgraded to T5's and could definitely see a difference between the two, but nothing dramatic. T5's are a better pipe if you can afford to find a set, but the DG's will do well if you're on a budget

Anyone have a pic of the stator side of the engine with the stator cover off? I got something in my head and was wanting to look at it before I go pulling parts off mine. Thanks!

So who's still in for this trip? I may not have my drag bike done in time but I'll have a banshee to ride, regardless...I and 2 or 3 of my local friends will be going, who else is definitely gonna be there?

I don't think you're gonna have any luck finding a pre-fabbed box for two 12's to go under the seat....you'd be better off building your own

Congrats to the winners!!

Cut as close to the frame as you're comfortable doing, then pull out the grinder and grind it down close to the welds, then finish it off with some kind of finishing pads (what I use) or some fine sandpaper. I like using rolloc pads (or metal finishing pads) cleaning up metal or polishing, once I tried them I haven't used anything else. They attach to a grinder (I use a die grinder) and you can pick them up several places. Lowes, harbor freight, etc. Here is what they look like...brown is coarse, maroon is medium, green is fine...

You're absolutely right...not all producers mix their music the same way. I personally like a heavier bass line in all my music, doesn't matter what style it is...the bass knob gives me that freedom to crank it up a little more to accomodate how I like to listen to my tunes...and no it's not distorted, lol  Oh yeah, Rebel, you can pick up one of those knobs on ebay...that's where I got mine; pretty cheap too. But, does your amp have the receptacle to plug one in? If it doesn't, you'll probably want to end up getting an EQ, or find a head unit that allows you to control the sub separately, like loco suggested

Wow, I started this thread over 3 years ago
-
That's not entirely true...I use mine for when I'm rolling through a bad neighborhood but don't want to shut my stereo off or all the way down....or if I switch from a rock CD to a rap CD I'll turn the bass up a bit. It does have more than one purpose

when is the drawing for the atv 4 game?

If I hit the lottery or strike it big at the craps table, I'll do a raffle for my banshee  Until then...... -

I was wondering when it was gonna happen too I'm sure it hasn't been done yet, Lee is always very good about posting the results/winners. If you put your name in the post, you were added. You won't get any notification stating so. -
I honestly think you've got the best approach to it....my friend came over last week and helped me lighten my frame up, he used the same tools and it took him NO time at all to get the brackets/extra bars out.

SOS pads. Get them wet and scrub away, it will not damage the chrome
-
To me, that's the best way to get them. A lot of the fun in owning them is fixing them up and bringing it to life  In a weird way, I think part of the reason I didn't care for my 450 much was because it was brand spankin' new and didn't need much attention, LOL
-
Especially when it started off looking like this!!!! Sad thing is I can't stop, lol...it's a disease

95 banshee, bought in 03, I was 23...first quad and is still in my garage. It has evolved into the bike in my signature

Trade is done! I took it out yesterday and the suspension is tight! The faster I went the smoother the ride was...turned great through corners. It's definitely gonna need a little love though, the swingarm bearings are shot, clutch needs adjusting, it's in dire need of a modded shift star, lol...other than that, I'm happy. The box of parts that came with it was a big plus, trinity head, 2 into 1 carb w/38 keihin, new terry cable, shifter, and other miscellaneous stuff. I'm heading outside now to clean it up some, I'll post some pics in the images section in a few hours :woot:
-
Sweet! The one that's coming for me has elkas and laeger a arms on it, it'll be a huge difference from what I'm used to!!! I'll probably be taking it out tomorrow, I'll definitely snap some pics and post up in the images section

What do you mean when you say it felt like it was wasting gas? The best way to tell if your jetted correctly is by reading the plugs. What do they look like?

You can use MS paint to make an image smaller or larger...it comes standard Windows OS. Go to your "start" button, programs, accessories, then paint. Open your pic using the program and then click "image" at the top of the program. Choose scale/skew and it will bring up a window that will let you choose how much you want to shrink it. It's not the "best" tool to use but it works and is free. You may have to scale it down a few times until you get it right, but if you go too far, you can always go to edit, then undo. Be sure to save your picture as a jpeg too

You nailed it...I had some on my yfz450, the traction was awesome but they wore down a lot quicker than I expected. My friend went through his set in less than 6 months. Great tire for a lot of different terrains, they just don't last too long
-
Will have them Saturday, it's being shipped back to me right now...I'm stoked

The 450 has been traded

That's a hell of a Christmas present! Looks awesome, I just traded my 450 for another banshee
