  1. Actually I weigh about 245 and im only piped and filtered with everything else stock, I come off the line like a freight train in the sand. Sounds like you need more motor, or some better paddles. My quad comes out of the sand pretty well with just holeshots on it in second gear. I tried dropping a gear and it basically eliminates 1st gear as it is so short .5 sec after you pop the clutch your already maxed out in rpm and have to shift again. Once my motor was piped I had no trouble leaving in second, so Try revving it a little more before you drop the hammer.
  2. Could have been jetting. It just didnt have the same feeling when riding it. I am very impressed with the pipes. And I know there are alot of variables to drag racing. I was just stating my result on that day. Its possible another banshee similar to mine would eat me up with the new style fattys on a different day but hey. I have since raced a stock 06 450r , 07 raptor 700 se, and a piped cammed yfz450 Beat the honda by a length, Raptor beat me by a half quad, and yfz beat me by a length and a half Im advancing my timing +4 and getting a woods port done. Should be as fast as it needs to be for a while. (I hope)
  3. My buddy calls me up this morning and tells me one of his buddys from work is coming over with his 04 banshee and to come over and see what my 96 had on it. I get over there and its a pretty damn good looking banshee. He had Fmf fattys and power core 2 silencers, cool head 21 cc domes and k&N pods. He said he was jetted at 330 mains 27.5 pilots. I rode it up and down the road a few times after warming it up to see what it had. It felt good but just somehow didnt have the pull mine has. My 96 has FmF gold series (old style fatty) with powercore 2s , and a twin air filter , stock air box with the snorkel removed. 290 mains , and 25 pilots needles on the third clip He was about 180 maybe 190 lbs and I am 240 on a light day. So I figured he would hand me my ass. Both of us left in 2nd and got great starts, by the time we hit 3rd gear I just walked away from him. Dead even up to 3rd then from 3rd to 6th I gained 2 quads on him. This was the same result 3 times. I got a bad start once almost wheelied over and still got back in it and passed him just before the finish line. They even sound a ton different. My old style sound a little deeper and it seemed they stayed on the pipe a good bit longer than his new style. He said he only had 1/2 a season on his rebuild and mine had about the same . I was a little leary of getting old style pipes because I thought the newer ones made more power unless for some reason my quad is a factory freak of sorts. But if you see a set of these check em out, they rip pretty damn good. I will admit the newer ones look alot cleaner but the old ones arent for looks, they are for go!
  4. I have a 2003 dodge ram 4by4 hemi. the superchip is worth it just for the shift point settings and rev limiter settings alone. I noticed a good increase in 0-60 for sure on the 91 setting stock but I have to run the 87 setting and still run premium fuel to have my zex wet 150 kit in it (spray to play). I had to go with colder plugs and I also put in an a/f gauge. I run a borla exhaust and have electric cutouts for when I really wanna surprise someone. My best 1/4 mile time with my 1500 shortbed shortcab 4by4 is 12.96 @ 121 MPH . I havent been able to figure out how to leave with nitrous in 2wd and not smoke the tires. I run the 3.90 gearing but have 305-60-r20 open country Toyos on her But back to the original post YES get the superchips its worth it. All the other programmers have half the features and are just as expensive. You can update the superchips online for some of the newer trucks 05-07 ??? My 03 has a totally diferent computer than the newer trucks.
  5. I have some used in very very good condition powercore 2s I would like to trade for some Turbinecore silencers I need the ones for the fattys not the sst
  6. Thats funny I got the standard ac pro peg nerfs and they are closer to the shifter I had to extend mine 1.25" so I could fit my size 13 boots under it.
  7. Yep they look exactly like those. I was told they are similar to the fatty. How do yours perform? Have you run anyone with fattys ? How did you do?
  8. I use 92 93 octane pump gas and got a hold of an extra head taken right off a new banshee. My shop will mill it for $30 and I am gonna try it so, How much should I take off? Whats popular and with what results (compression?) I heard not to go more than .030 but have seen some that said they took off .040 with no problems. Eventually I will get a cool head but right now this is $160 cheaper after the $30 to do the head. I have fattys and pc 2s stock airbox with snorkel removed and am running 290 mains and stock pilots needle on the 3rd clip. After I install the head I am going to go +4 on the timing will I have to change anything. And will any of the two mods above require rejetting? One last question? What kind of gains will these mods provide?
  9. Does dnr ever give anyone shit about it or do people get an aftermarket one and put it on there? Who makes one for it?
  10. Are the FMF power core 2 silencers legal to ride in trails? Meaning do they have a spark arrestor built in or do you have to make/buy one for them? It doesnt mention one on there website but it does say the powercore 1s are spark arrested
  11. Thats what I was looking for thanks. The ones I picked up just say FMF without the oval logo and they say gold series in cursive writing along with a signature of someone (probly whoever made them at the time) They say FMF on the back side also(of each pipe) and look as if they were pieced together. Kinda cool and vintage looking. they were in awsome shape. Do these pipes have the same power gains as the new fattys?
  12. Anyone else wanna chime in? Do the newer ones say FMF fatty on them or do they just say FMF gold series
  13. My buddys pipes say FATTYS on them Mine say FMF and then say gold series in cursive writing but the dont say fatty on them. Are they just an older model Fatty or were the old FMF gold series a totally different pipe? Is the performance the same?
  14. Thanks for the replies. What do you guys do trailer to the party store and then ride down the street to that ride spot? Theres signs posted everywhere NO MOTOR VEHICLES . Do the cops ever mess with ya? Id hate to get a trespassing ticket and get the quad impounded. It looks like you gotta ride aways down the city bike path. What does a banshee have for jetting stock? Mains, and pilot and what clip on the needle from the bottom or top?
