Thats all you guys messed with was the pickup? Id check the idle setting too. I know this sounds like easy stuff but thats usally what the problem turns out being. Something simple.
-
Mine did that when my stator started going out. Something to check.

Sounds like the throttle is hung open. Maybe the carb slides. I dont see how changing the pick up coil would make it rev out. It has to have air/fuel to do that.

Rebuilding motor what setup should i go with?
jmd0346 replied to dantheman7502's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Id get a wiseco Hotrod crank. Id get it welded and trued. Its not really needed at your power level but if your in there I cant see why you wouldnt do it. Most shops will do it for like 50-75 bux. Seems like cheap insurance. Plus you may decide to go bigger later. Id do the rest like said above. Some sort of cool head. I have the Vitos Hemi head. It works great for me. Some pipes, V-Force reeds, timing plate(run it at 4 degrees). Later if you want to port it you'll already have the other good stuff. .... Oh and dont forget the boost bottle! LOL ... Just kidding. Dont get a boost bottle. -
Im gonna say the same shit I always do. Dont rule out DMC 916'S. Great all around pipe and have a sound like no other.

Paste gives me the shits.

Or that.

Motor woes - right side piston/rod damage

Did you clean it out any after you took the head off? It looks dry as a bone in there. I dont see any oil residue. -
Bottom.
-
Why did you rbuild it? Who jetted it? What mods do you have? 340's are big unless youve got some mods.
-
The little brass air screws on the side of the carb. Turn it all the way in then two turns out.

LOL Yeah no doubt. Like you said thats what this is here for. To discuss and figure things out. SOme of these guys now their stuff. Snop has helped me alot with my electrical gremlins. I know this is probably a little biased but... I love my setup. It has great mid range- top end power and torque. A soon as the power band hits it wants to pull the wheels up. Thats not HP thats TQ. I was the bike to beat around my area for a long time. I even had friends that used to drive 3 hours every weekend to ride with us at the sand mines around our area. LOL! Every week almost they came with something new(parts) hoping they could beat me. Several of them had Banshees. I think my DMC 916's play a big roll in my setup running so well. They are a great all around pipe. Ive ridden FMFs, PC's,CPI's and T5s. The only one's Ive been beat by were the CPI's but he had more work done so its hard to compare. Actually I didnt ride the cpi bike I just raced it... like it was my job. We were rivals around here for a while. I also have a pretty aggresive port(not full drag), Vito power pistons, Vito Hemi head with 19cc domes(150 psi), +4 timing. Alot of other little things.

Im with ya on that. I keep hearing how great the new four pokes suspensions are too. Im not into it at all. My brothers 450R rides like a goddamn two horse wagon. I swear Its so uncomfortable to me. I rode it for a few miles a few weeks ago. Man I was so ready to get off that damn thing. It makes great power and its bone stock but damn its uncomfortable. Now my Banshee on the other hand is like a Cadillac, well no Im a Ford guy, So more like a Lincoln. LOL I am with alot of these guys though. Trying to make a Banshee torquey is kinda defeating the intended purpose of a Banshee. It was made to be a top end screamer. I say leave it that way. Play to its advantages not try and change its disadvantages. The first step is learning to ride with a top end syle of engine. Change you. Not the bike. I think what some are saying is. Dont spend all that money and time and not end up with what you want. Now Snops setup maybe exactly what you want or it may be still lacking the Torque you are looking for. My setup makes good torque from mid range on up but still may not be what you consider torguey. You probably wont read all that but oh well. Ive had few beers tonight and felt like given my .02.

I always unplug my CDI and make damn sure I have a good clean ground.

Vitos powerport pistons what they are cracked up to be?
jmd0346 replied to Robert6608's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Because i do believe the Vitos pistons provide more power on the right setups. The question was whether or not it was 6mid-range and 8 topend. There is no way to know that exact number without a dyno. -

Vitos pistons are Wiseco's. Ive had several sets with no complaints. As far as power thats really impossible to know without a dyno. -
Eric from 4-wheel thunder did it years ago. He's not in business anymore so I cant ask him. I did have the guys at Vito's check it out last year when I rebuilt it last time. They said the porting look really good and he spent a good bit of time on it. According to Eric it was a stage 2 port. He said It wasnt a full drag port but more aggressive than a trail/play port. I ride pretty hard. We ride trails alot but we ride pretty damn fast so it stays up on the pipe a good bit. Only putt when Im riding with my son. We ride open service roads(at our riding park) alot too and do some drag racing. I really like my DMC 916's. Ive just been wanting to try something different.

Id go with the 30mm OKO's. They're a keihin knockoff. They can be bought at Carbpartswarehouse.com.
-
Sounds electrical to me. Do you have buddy with a Banshee? Try switching stators and see what happens. Sounds like it only happens after you heat things up a bit. Which sounds like and electrical break down somwhere.
-
Would the CPI's be a good choice or work well for my setup? I have DMC 916's now. I love them but Im wanting to try something new. LOL In other words waste some hard earned just for fun.
-
LOL Sorry I didnt mean Im selling them. I bought them from Motosport for 297 shipped.
-
I like Maxxis myself. Ive had their Razors and now I have Razor 2's. They are a great all around tire IMO. I got the whole set of 4 Razor 2's for $297 shipped.
-
Just looks like new silencers to me. The head pipes look the same as the old Aliens and 916's. Which I recommend. The 916's I mean.
-
My Vito Hemi Head has been working great for almost 8 years.

What brand stator?
